Lingyue questioned Tu Su, asking if Ling Duan's harassment had caused resentment that allowed malevolent energy to exploit him. Tu Su, attempting to forget by practicing swordsmanship, found himself instead controlled by the malevolent energy. Lingyue advised him to patiently await Zi Yin's return to reinforce his seal, but Tu Su was reluctant for his master to further deplete his cultivation for him. Seeing Tu Su's impatience, Lingyue urged him to remember Zi Yin's teachings and maintain a clear mind.
Lingyue then consulted Hong Yu, expressing his intent to go to Youdu to seek Qing Xue's help in suppressing Tu Su's increasing malevolent energy. Hong Yu told him to make a swift return. Fu Qu and Tu Su saw Lingyue off. Fu Qu presented Lingyue with a sword tassel she had made, but Lingyue politely refused it, citing inconvenience, and reminded Tu Su of his three-chapter agreement with the Headmaster before departing.
Fu Qu, feeling disappointed by Lingyue's coolness, angrily discarded the sword tassel and ran off. Ling Duan witnessed this, misinterpreted the scene, and confronted Tu Su. Surrounded by a group wielding swords, Tu Su's anger flared, causing the Sword of Burning Solitude to move erratically, repelling everyone. Tu Su then walked away, leaving the others terrified and convinced he was a monster. Ling Duan secretly vowed to eliminate Tu Su.
Ling Duan's repeated provocations fueled Tu Su's resentment, which the Sword of Burning Solitude exploited, leading to an increase in his malevolent energy. Tu Su's malevolent energy continued to grow with his cultivation. Disturbed by Ling Duan's malicious words even in his sleep, Tu Su woke in an agitated state and, nearly losing control of the Sword of Burning Solitude, decided to take it to the sword pavilion, intending to destroy it himself.
Hong Yu arrived just in time to stop him, scolding him for his rashness. Unable to persuade him otherwise, she punished him by making him copy scriptures in the scripture library for ten days to calm his mind. Meanwhile, Zhao Lin started spreading rumors that the Headmaster intended to marry Fu Qu to Tu Su, suggesting Tu Su was destined to be the next sect leader.
The Headmaster overheard Zhao Lin fabricating these rumors and immediately punished him by sending him to the scripture library to copy scriptures for a month. In the scripture library, Zhao Lin discovered Tu Su and approached him. After a conversation, Zhao Lin realized Tu Su was not as bad as he had thought, and their relationship began to improve. In Youdu, Qing Xue spoke with her Grandma.
Pleased with Qing Xue's conduct over the past three years, her Grandma granted her permission to travel to the human world. A servant then announced Lingyue's arrival. Qing Xue met with Lingyue, who requested her to visit Tianyong City to assess Tu Su's condition. Qing Xue countered, demanding that if she could suppress the malevolent energy, she would take Tu Su and the Sword of Burning Solitude back to Youdu. Lingyue promptly refused.
After a brief stalemate, Qing Xue promised not to harm Tu Su and asked Lingyue to trust her, to which he reluctantly agreed. Back in the scripture library, as Tu Su was closing the windows, a Masked Man appeared, attempting to steal the Sword of Burning Solitude. Zhao Lin, woken by the disturbance, tried to intervene, but the Masked Man killed him with the Sword of Burning Solitude and fled with the weapon.
Tu Su, sensing the commotion, ran in to find the Masked Man. He fought the Masked Man, recovered the Sword of Burning Solitude, and pursued him into a forest. They engaged in a fierce battle, during which the Masked Man was wounded on the arm by the Sword of Burning Solitude before escaping by burrowing into the ground.
Although Tu Su wounded the Masked Man, he himself was almost controlled by the Sword of Burning Solitude's malevolent energy and struggled to suppress it, reminding himself not to succumb. Tu Su returned to the scripture library with the Sword of Burning Solitude to find Zhao Lin dead. At that moment, Ling Duan and others rushed in. Seeing Zhao Lin's body, they all immediately assumed Tu Su was the killer. Ling Duan was particularly aggressive.
Falsely accused and emotionally agitated, Tu Su gradually lost his senses and became controlled by the Sword of Burning Solitude's malevolent energy, violently driving Ling Duan and the others out of the scripture library. The Headmaster Zhenren arrived with a group of disciples to corner Tu Su. Hong Yu tried to persuade Tu Su to calm down. The Headmaster ordered the disciples to attack.
Tu Su defended himself with the Sword of Burning Solitude but eventually could not withstand the assault and collapsed into unconsciousness. Tu Su was then confined in a monster-binding cage. He slowly regained consciousness, awakened by Fu Qu's calls. Fu Qu expressed her unwavering belief in him, bringing Tu Su a measure of comfort before she left to fetch medicine for his injuries. Tu Su sat on the ground, desperately trying to suppress the Sword of Burning Solitude's malevolent energy.
The Headmaster was furious about Tu Su's loss of control. Hong Yu pleaded for Tu Su, convinced that he would not kill a fellow disciple. However, Ling Duan aggressively argued against Tu Su, insisting on his execution and leaving Hong Yu speechless. The Headmaster dismissed Hong Yu. Ling Duan continued to inflame the Headmaster's anger, using both subtle and overt tactics.
The Headmaster ultimately decided to wait for Zi Yin's return to discuss how to handle Tu Su, but Ling Duan fiercely demanded Tu Su's immediate execution, determined to seal his fate. Fu Qu secretly overheard this conversation. Unwilling to see Tu Su executed, she hastily released him and led him down the mountain to escape. Tu Su was reluctant to leave, stating that without him, no one could control the Sword of Burning Solitude.
Just then, Hong Yu arrived with the Sword of Burning Solitude, handing it to Tu Su. She persuaded him to temporarily leave Tianyong City until Zi Yin and Lingyue could investigate and uncover the truth. Seeing the logic in their words, Tu Su reluctantly departed. Tu Su descended the mountain alone, aimlessly wandering with Ah Xiang. He recalled Shao Gong's earlier mention of his hometown and decided to travel to Qin Chuan to find him.
Upon arriving in Qin Chuan, Tu Su witnessed a young man flying through the air, causing widespread chaos. Tu Su intervened, putting a stop to the young man's "flying on a washboard" sword maneuver. The young man fell to the ground, then blamed Tu Su for interrupting his practice. Tu Su ignored him and attempted to leave, but the young man blocked his path, convinced he was a sword immortal.
The young man introduced himself as Fang Lansheng and asked for Tu Su's name, secretly musing that Tu Su must be a cultivator. Tu Su, however, thought the young man was likely mad and continued on his way, which only increased Fang Lansheng's admiration. Back in Tianyong City, Lingyue returned with Qing Xue. Ling Duan immediately stepped forward to slander Tu Su, accusing him of killing Zhao Lin.
Fu Qu intervened to stop Ling Duan, leading to an argument that the Headmaster swiftly halted. The Headmaster then informed Lingyue about Zhao Lin's death. Lingyue expressed his belief in Tu Su's innocence and requested time to investigate the matter thoroughly, offering to take the blame for Tu Su if he failed to uncover the truth. The Headmaster tasked Lingyue with the investigation, hoping he could provide an explanation to the other disciples.
Fu Qu then took Qing Xue and Lingyue to the place where Tu Su had been imprisoned, recounting the full sequence of events. Lingyue worried about Tu Su's ability to control the Sword of Burning Solitude's malevolent energy while outside the city. Qing Xue offered to search for Tu Su, explaining that she could sense the Sword of Burning Solitude's direction. Lingyue implored her to find him.
