Rui'er (also known as Qiu Xinrui) and Tusu were caught spying on Zhuo Yunfei. Rui'er, frustrated by Zhuo Yunfei's indifference towards her, devised a series of elaborate schemes to win him over, but Tusu kept revealing the flaws in her plans. Seeing Tusu's concern for Qingxue, Rui'er asked him for one last favor before he left. They staged a public argument outside Zhuo Yunfei's window, with Tusu pretending to fight with Rui'er over Zhuo Yunfei, even using a script.

When Zhuo Yunfei emerged, Tusu dramatically proposed breaking up with Rui'er and departed. Zhuo Yunfei questioned Rui'er's desperate actions. Rui'er followed Zhuo Yunfei inside, openly declared her feelings, and confessed that the argument with Tusu was merely an act. Zhuo Yunfei was visibly moved but still refused her, wishing she would find someone else to trust and rely on. Heartbroken and angry from the rejection, Rui'er left Zhuo Yunfei's residence.

While walking in the forest, she was attacked by a masked black-clothed man. Zhuo Yunfei promptly intervened and saved her. Rui'er then realized the black-clothed man was Tusu, who had staged the attack to verify Zhuo Yunfei's true feelings. Tusu explained that Zhuo Yunfei had set up an enchantment to prevent Rui'er from leaving the forest or being harmed, and Tusu had used the staged attack to test if Zhuo Yunfei genuinely cared for her.

Rui'er was deeply touched, especially after Zhuo Yunfei called her by name "Xinrui" in the emergency, and embraced him. Unseen nearby, another woman watched the scene with resentment. Zhuo Yunfei hosted Tusu for drinks, thanking him for bringing him and Rui'er together. Recognizing Tusu's arduous journey for Qingxue, Zhuo Yunfei offered him money, but Tusu politely declined, suggesting he save it for Rui'er's dowry.

Zhuo Yunfei admitted he was no longer the man he once was and wished to abandon his past to be with Rui'er. As night fell, Zhuo Yunfei invited Tusu to stay until morning, and Tusu accepted. Later that night, as Rui'er went to cover the inebriated Zhuo Yunfei with a blanket, she accidentally discovered a tattoo on his chest, identical to the one on the killer of her parents. The devastating truth plunged her into despair.

The following morning, Rui'er served Zhuo Yunfei a bowl of poisoned hangover soup. After he drank it, they accompanied Tusu as he departed. Shortly after Tusu left, Zhuo Yunfei began vomiting blood, realizing the soup was poisoned. Rui'er confronted him, demanding to know why he killed her parents, also understanding this was his "secret sorrow" that prevented them from being together.

Zhuo Yunfei, feeling immense guilt, did not blame Rui'er and refused Tusu's offer to detoxify him, urging Tusu and Rui'er to leave immediately as Xue Luwei was approaching. Just then, a flying dagger narrowly missed the trio. Xue Luwei arrived with her followers, taking Rui'er hostage. She intended to punish Zhuo Yunfei for his betrayal. Zhuo Yunfei feigned a desire to kill Rui'er himself for revenge. When Xue Luwei lowered her guard, he swiftly stabbed her instead, saving Rui'er.

Xue Luwei, injured, was taken away by her subordinates, but not before striking Zhuo Yunfei. Rui'er tearfully cradled the severely wounded Zhuo Yunfei. With his last breaths, Zhuo Yunfei confessed his love for Rui'er, which had blossomed under the hibiscus flowers, but lamented the cruel twist of fate that made him her parents' killer. He gave her his last hibiscus flower before dying in her arms.

Heartbroken and unwilling to live without him, Rui'er then took her own life with poison, hoping to reunite with him in the next life, and died beside him. Tusu was profoundly affected, watching the tragic end of the star-crossed lovers. As he left, he recalled Zhuo Yunfei's earlier words about fate being beyond one's control, wondering about his own destiny with Qingxue.

Meanwhile, in Tianyong City, Hong Yu discussed the future prospects of Tusu with Fu Qu, believing he would become even more powerful. Fu Qu expressed envy for Tusu having Qingxue by his side, to which Hong Yu playfully asked what Fu Qu would do if Lingyue were to be entangled with Lansheng and not return. Fu Qu, however, remained confident that Lingyue would certainly return.

Ling Duan tried to win Fu Qu's affection with gifts again, but Fu Qu, thoroughly annoyed, rejected him, stating that Lingyue would assume the position of sect leader and warning Ling Duan to cease his disruptive actions before departing. Ling Duan was filled with resentment. Shaogong and Yin Qianchang shared drinks, with Shaogong inquiring about Yin Qianchang's next steps.

Yin Qianchang resolved to provide an explanation to Huashang and expressed his intention to accompany Shaogong to Qingyutan to find Jin Niang's whereabouts, a declaration that caused Shaogong to frown with concern. Lingyue also proposed joining Shaogong on his trip to Qingyutan, offering to help eliminate any remaining factions and eradicate potential future threats for Tusu. Shaogong maintained an outwardly polite demeanor but harbored many reservations inwardly. Xun Fang questioned Shaogong's decision to return to Qingyutan.

Shaogong explained it was to refine medicine for Tusu, which caused Xun Fang to flare up in anger, realizing the reason was again Tusu. Shaogong calmed her, promising that once the medicine for Tusu was complete, they would leave Qingyutan forever and be together. Xun Fang then agreed. Tusu, after examining Qingxue, discovered her condition was dire and immediately set off to find a demon.

On the street, his demon-seeking bell illuminated, revealing that Yanmei, a small hoodlum, was a demon. Yanmei, upon realizing his identity was exposed, begged for mercy, asserting he was a benevolent demon who had never harmed anyone, and offered his family's many spiritually potent treasures to cure Qingxue, promising to retrieve them for her. Tusu then took Qingxue to find Master Yao, but they were intercepted by pursuing Youdu elders (also described as priests).

Qingxue was prepared to fight the elders, but Tusu urged her to return to Youdu. Qingxue steadfastly refused. As the Youdu elders attempted to forcibly take Qingxue, Tusu intervened to stop them. Huanhuan then stepped in to assist Qingxue, dazing the elders and telling Qingxue to quickly leave. Lansheng informed Xiangling of his decision to return to Qinchuan with Ruqin and invited her to join them.

Xiangling, focused on finding her parents, expressed a desire to use Shaogong's Candle Dragon Scale to uncover their whereabouts and asked Lansheng to borrow it from Shaogong. After Lansheng borrowed the Candle Dragon Scale and departed, Shaogong's lips curled into a cold smirk.
