He Yichen had an arranged dinner with Wen Min, the director of Treasure Magazine, set up by his sister Yimei, who canceled last minute. Wen Min tried to discuss legal matters with Yichen, noting he seemed more anxious about her case than she was. Yichen offered to pay for dinner. Meanwhile, Gu Xinghong dragged Zhao Mosheng on a blind date with two surgeons. Gu Xinghong, wanting to look better, made Mosheng wear a wig and glasses to appear less attractive.
The two women arrived early at the same restaurant where Yichen and Wen Min were dining. Gu Xinghong recognized Wen Min, and they immediately erupted into a verbal spat, each taunting the other about their past and current relationship status. Yichen, witnessing the argument and seeing Mosheng, abruptly excused himself from Wen Min, claiming he had "something to do," and left.
Gu Xinghong later confided in Mosheng, tearfully explaining that Wen Min had stolen her first boyfriend, mistreated him, and abandoned him after an accident. When their dates arrived, Gu Xinghong instantly composed herself. Mosheng, however, was lost in thought, remembering her first encounter with Yichen, and barely registered the conversation with her date. Later, He Yichen met Xiang Heng for drinks, but Yichen remained silent, only drinking.
Xiang Heng revealed that news of Yichen having a girlfriend had spread through the legal community. Xiang Heng then mentioned he had seen Zhao Mosheng recently and asked if Yichen and Mosheng were back together, offering congratulations. Yichen left Xiang Heng alone at the bar without a word. After her date, Dr. Zeng, one of the surgeons, walked Mosheng home. As she was about to enter her building, Yichen suddenly appeared, pinned her against the wall, and kissed her deeply.
He murmured that he had "still lost, after so many years," and lost "badly." Mosheng, startled, asked if he was drunk, but Yichen replied that he wasn't drunk, but "crazy." Gu Xinghong’s date with the other surgeon, Dr. Wang, was going well, and they planned to see a movie. While shopping for clothes with Mosheng, Gu Xinghong received a call informing them that Wen Min's family was causing a scene at the magazine office.
They rushed back, but the commotion had ceased. The editor-in-chief expressed her annoyance to Wen Min about her personal family matters disrupting the workplace. At the law firm, Yichen appeared distracted during a meeting with Lao Yuan and Xiang Heng about Xiao Xiao’s case. Lao Yuan mentioned that Pinjia Magazine's lawyer offered a surprisingly low settlement.
Yichen, still seemingly disengaged, suggested adding a zero to the offer, explaining that Pinjia Magazine was seeking investment and needed to resolve Xiao Xiao’s case quickly, essentially advising them to "take advantage of their misfortunes." Xiang Heng observed Yichen’s unusual behavior, accurately deducing that Mosheng's return was the cause. Yichen brushed him off, stating he didn't discuss "personal matters in the office."
Hearing junior colleagues discuss relationship pride, Xiang Heng pointedly advised Yichen that if he still liked someone, he should take action, as that person wouldn't be running for their whole life. To Lao Yuan's surprise, Yichen left work on time, claiming to have "troublesome urgent matters." Mosheng worked late at home until she realized she hadn't eaten. As she left her apartment, she found Yichen waiting in the hallway. He asked her to walk with him.
Yichen took her on a bus to Old North Street, a place they frequently visited in college for snacks. Mosheng found the area completely changed and barely recognizable. She recalled it as the site of her "most painful memory," referring to Yichen making her run 800 meters, and his exasperated comment about how, despite her slow running, he had allowed her to catch up to him.
She also vividly remembered a time in Professor Zhou's criminal law class when she, a non-law student, was unable to answer a question and Yichen stood up to claim her as his girlfriend to save her from embarrassment. Yichen walked Mosheng back home. He apologized for his actions the previous night. Mosheng dismissed it, attributing his actions to drunkenness. Yichen then softly kissed her again, clarifying that he was completely sober and had always been.
Meanwhile, Xiao Xiao brought Lu Yuanfeng to her hometown, Xishan Township, to take promotional photos. Yuanfeng noticed Xiao Xiao's normally glamorous demeanor soften into a simpler, more innocent side, which touched him. Xiao Xiao revealed she was doing the photoshoot for her hometown without pay, and despite pretending to disdain the "poor place," Yuanfeng recognized her underlying homesickness. He Yichen's reputation as a confirmed bachelor was well-known.
One day, Prosecutor Old Zhou called him, saying his wife was forcing him to introduce a girlfriend to Yichen. Yichen claimed he already had a girlfriend, but Old Zhou responded that anyone else might have a girlfriend, but he would never believe it of Yichen.
