Lu Yuanfeng and He Yimei were enjoying a Japanese meal when He Yimei revealed she doesn't eat raw seafood, surprising Lu Yuanfeng. His phone then rang; it was Xiao Xiao, complaining that he hadn't retouched the photos he sent her. Lu Yuanfeng apologized, admitting he sent the wrong folder, and promised to send the corrected photos before 8 PM, mentioning he was out to dinner with his girlfriend before hanging up.

Their meal was soon interrupted when He Yimei received an urgent phone call from Lao Yuan. He informed her that He Yichen was in the hospital due to gastrorrhagia. He Yimei immediately rushed out, politely declining Lu Yuanfeng's offer to accompany her, stating it would be inconvenient with too many people. Meanwhile, at Zhao Mosheng's magazine office, colleagues discussed the ongoing "elite men" feature.

The new director, Tao Yijing, had confidently taken on the task of interviewing He Yichen, boasting about being his schoolmate, but the lawyer had refused her interview without even seeing her. While at the office, Zhao Mosheng received a call from Xiang Heng, who asked to meet her. When they met, Xiang Heng explained he had to get her number from He Yichen's phone.

He confessed his long-standing curiosity about her, recalling their college days when the dorm's favorite pastime was betting on which girl would win He Yichen over. He described how He Yichen usually ignored these antics, reading books or sleeping, but one night, He Yichen surprised everyone by declaring, "My bet is on Zhao Mosheng." Xiang Heng admitted that was the first time he'd heard her name.

He reminisced about how He Yichen, usually calm and composed beyond his years, transformed after dating Zhao Mosheng, becoming more like a typical young man. He would get visibly annoyed by her at times but also incredibly happy, once even washing all their dormmates' clothes for two weeks straight. After sharing these memories, Xiang Heng handed Zhao Mosheng a piece of paper with a hospital address.

He warned her that He Yichen's workaholic lifestyle could easily lead to an early death, and his current gastric bleeding was a minor issue in comparison. He left the decision of visiting him entirely up to her, adding that it's best not to be too selfish. At the hospital, He Yimei stood by He Yichen's bedside as he slept.

She silently reflected on his recent low spirits, attributing them to Zhao Mosheng, and wondered why He Yichen was so stubborn in his feelings, repeatedly hurting himself. She then quietly promised that if he truly chose Zhao Mosheng, she would help them, feeling it was a debt she owed them both. As Zhao Mosheng arrived at the hospital room, she found He Yimei leaving. He Yimei invited her to He Yichen's apartment to pick up some clothes for him.

Inside He Yichen's home, He Yimei opened a nearly empty refrigerator, lamenting He Yichen's poor self-care, recalling a previous visit where he was eating instant noodles. Zhao Mosheng explained that He Yichen always prioritizes work over meals, and the only way to make him eat is to threaten to starve herself. He Yimei conceded that she was not as capable as Zhao Mosheng in that regard.

She then confessed that she had given up on He Yichen because she couldn't match his endless patience. She recounted an incident four years prior when a drunken He Yichen, after winning a big case, had hugged her, mistaking her for Zhao Mosheng, and repeatedly asked, "Why are you still not back? I'm ready to abandon everything, why are you still unwilling to return?" He Yimei then led Zhao Mosheng to He Yichen's study, where she pointed to a book.

On its flyleaf, Zhao Mosheng found a line from Xu Zhimo's poem: "Quietness is my farewell music; silent is Cambridge tonight." She instantly recognized it as the allusion to her own name, a detail she had used to introduce herself to He Yichen in college, realizing he had never stopped thinking of her.

He Yimei then revealed the tragic details of He Yichen's parents' deaths: his father fell from the fourth floor, and his mother, already in poor health, died soon after from grief, having stopped taking her medicine. He Yimei suggested his mother's death was a form of suicide and noted that He Yichen was only ten years old at the time.

Handing Zhao Mosheng a bag of clothes, He Yimei announced she wouldn't go back into the hospital room, stating she hadn't lost to Zhao Mosheng, but to He Yichen himself. Zhao Mosheng entered He Yichen's hospital room and gazed at him as he slept. She silently wondered why he was so unyielding, questioning if he understood that seven years had changed everything. Tearfully, she leaned down and kissed him. At that moment, He Yichen's eyes suddenly opened.

Zhao Mosheng tried to pull away and escape, but He Yichen grabbed her hand, demanding to know what she was doing and what her actions meant. Despite his grasp, she forcefully broke free and fled the room. He Yichen was discharged from the hospital earlier than expected and immediately returned to his demanding work schedule.

His assistant informed him that Manager Zhang from Hongyuan Company had inquired about his case and that a female journalist from Treasure magazine, claiming to be his schoolmate, had come in person for an interview. He Yichen instructed his assistant to no longer inform him of any calls from that particular magazine. Later, Xiang Heng confronted He Yichen in his office, questioning why he was back at work when he was scheduled for discharge the day after tomorrow.

He Yichen vaguely replied that he had left the hospital early. Xiang Heng pressed further, cautioning him against risking his life, but He Yichen insisted the company might fail without him. Xiang Heng then deduced that He Yichen's early discharge and unusual behavior were connected to Zhao Mosheng. He Yichen admitted that Zhao Mosheng had visited him and bitterly stated that everything between them was completely over, and his wishful thinking had finally ended.

Meanwhile, Lu Yuanfeng returned home in a visibly joyful mood. His parents immediately noticed his happiness and excitedly speculated that he was in love. His father warned him against dating "indecent models," emphasizing their family's scholarly background. Lu Yuanfeng vehemently denied his father's concerns, promising that his future girlfriend would be pure and intelligent, and far superior to someone like Xiao Xiao. That evening, He Yimei stayed late at the office, reviewing scripts.

She looked at a thermos on her desk, containing yam, spareribs, and fungus soup she had prepared, intending to take it to He Yichen. She hesitated, wondering if Zhao Mosheng might also cook for him, then decided that as a rich kid, Zhao Mosheng likely wouldn't know how to make soup, resolving to take it to He Yichen herself. Just then, Lu Yuanfeng arrived, inviting her out to dinner.

He spotted the thermos and, assuming the soup was for him, happily began eating it. He praised her cooking, remarking it was as good as his mother's. As he ate, Lu Yuanfeng mentioned seeing Zhao Mosheng recently and noted that she seemed happy, asking He Yimei if anything good had happened to her. He Yimei replied she hadn't seen Zhao Mosheng much lately, as Zhao Mosheng had been taking a lot of vacation time to rest. Lu Yuanfeng continued to express his delight, saying he was a fortunate man to have a girlfriend who cooked so well.
