Zhao Mosheng expressed her concern to He Yichen that his cousin, He Yimei, seemed aware of her past in the United States. Yichen calmly reminded her that Yimei had learned about it when they were in Mauritius, but Mosheng still worried about others judging her and gossiping about Yichen. Later, He Yimei sat alone in the living room, staring out at the rain.

Yichen came to find her, and Yimei questioned why he hadn't told her that Mosheng's marriage was a sham. Yichen explained that he had only recently learned the truth himself. Yimei then apologized to Yichen for believing outsiders' words, to which he responded reassuringly that it was all in the past and there was no need for apologies. Meanwhile, Ying Hui drove Tong Xinying home, asking her to notify him next time she visited.

Xinying explained she was merely passing by after working late and decided to check on him. Ying Hui, noticing the late hour, pointedly asked why her husband hadn't picked her up, suggesting he was failing in his duties by letting her work late and travel home alone. Xinying defended her husband, stating she was a career woman and had to work. Ying Hui then complimented her, saying she was always the kind of woman destined for luxury.

Observing Xinying’s sadness, Ying Hui gently inquired about her feelings. Xinying admitted feeling aggrieved on her way over but felt her troubles were insignificant in his presence. She confessed to feeling isolated at work for years, struggling to connect with colleagues who only discussed mundane topics like titles, pay raises, and their children's education. Ying Hui comforted her, saying her excellence naturally drew jealousy and suggested she change jobs if unhappy.

He assured her it would be a simple matter for him to help. He then called his assistant, Linda, instructing her to contact General Manager Feng of Ding Heng Group, a company that had expressed interest in collaborating with them, and recommend Tong Xinying for the Public Relations Director position under Linda’s name. He subtly hinted that Ms. Tong was an old college friend of his.

He then told Xinying that Ding Heng Group was a big company, but not to him, and promised she would be happy working there. The next morning, Mosheng tried to get out of bed, but Yichen playfully held her close, insisting she sleep in with him a little longer, like a child. He kept her from moving, explaining that she often kicked off the quilt in her sleep, leading to them both catching a cold.

Eventually, Mosheng drifted back to sleep, only to wake and find Yichen already up and playing chess with his uncle in the living room. Mosheng joined his aunt in the kitchen, helping with meal preparations. She learned that Yimei had returned to Shanghai for work at the TV station, having left early after breakfast. Yichen’s aunt, learning Mosheng was a local, suggested arranging a dinner with Mosheng's parents.

Just as Mosheng began to mention her father, Yichen interrupted, asking where his phone was and requesting Mosheng retrieve it. Mosheng understood he was trying to prevent her from revealing details about her family to his aunt and uncle, believing he was sensitive about her father's past. When she later directly asked Yichen about this, he clarified that he simply didn't want his relatives to form any biases against her and urged her to trust him more.

Mosheng quipped that she'd rather be confused than overthink, to which Yichen teasingly called her "troublesome." Later, Mosheng idly flipped through Yichen’s childhood belongings, prompting them to reminisce. Mosheng found a picture of Yichen as a baby and a high school photo from a physics competition, expressing surprise he studied science before law. Yichen proudly declared he was good at everything.

She discovered a family photo of Yichen with his parents and asked if he would take her to visit them. He agreed, suggesting they wait until the Qingming Festival and until her hair grew longer. Mosheng then shared details about her own family: how her mother had seemingly disliked her from a young age due to her father, and how, after her father's incident, she lost contact with her mother while in the United States.

She recounted how her father's classmates later informed her that her parents had divorced a month before his death. She explained that her father had committed suicide in prison to bear all the charges, as the incident had implicated her mother, and he didn't want to drag her down. Yichen comforted her, saying it was all over. Mosheng explained she wasn't sad, but felt for her mother, who was now alone.

Seeing her worry, Yichen decided they would visit her mother the following morning before returning to Shanghai. Upon her return to the TV station, He Yimei was severely reprimanded by her leader, Teacher Dong, for taking unauthorized leave. He informed her that the entire team had worked sleeplessly for a week to cover her two shows and that the station had intended to terminate her contract and prevent her from hosting in the future.

However, Teacher Dong revealed he had covered for her, explaining her absence as an urgent family matter, and warned her not to let slip the truth. He added pointedly that she was fortunate to have "a good brother and a good boyfriend" who both pleaded on her behalf. Later, a colleague, Little Lu, mentioned finding a valuable diamond necklace in Yimei’s drawer. Yimei dismissed it as fake, but Little Lu insisted it was real, claiming expertise from a friend's experience.

Yimei’s internal thoughts connected this revelation about the necklace to her leader's comment about her "good boyfriend," hinting at the necklace's true origin. The next day, Mosheng finally reunited with her mother. Her mother greeted her with a reserved demeanor. Mosheng shared the news of her marriage, which brought a slight smile to her mother's face. When Mosheng mentioned her husband's name, He Yichen, her mother felt the name sounded familiar.

When Yichen arrived and greeted her, her mother also found his face familiar. Yichen attributed this to "people having similar appearances," but Mosheng's mother remained unconvinced. Mosheng attempted to ask her mother about her father’s case, questioning if he truly committed the crimes he was accused of and if he was innocent. Her mother firmly advised her not to ask about such matters, stating, "The law is just. It will not wrong any good person."

Before leaving, Mosheng gave her mother her phone number. Mosheng reflected on her mother’s words, remembering Yichen’s American friend, Jason, mentioning doubts in her father’s case, which intensified her own lingering suspicions. He Yimei later met Yuanfeng to thank him for intervening with her team leader at the TV station. She returned the diamond necklace, explaining that she now realized it was real and too valuable to keep, especially since they had broken up.

Yuanfeng attempted to persuade her to keep it as a future birthday gift, but Yimei insisted it was too expensive and she couldn’t accept it. She then apologized to Yuanfeng for her immaturity and insincerity during their relationship, expressing deep guilt for having acted like a "clown" in others' relationships and involving him. Yuanfeng responded that it was fine and she seemed to have moved on.

As they parted ways, Xiao Xiao, who had been observing them from a distance during her photoshoot, approached Yuanfeng. She teased him, suggesting he could win back his "goddess," and called him "stupid" for not realizing Yimei wanted to move past their history and reconnect. Xiao Xiao even urged him to propose, claiming Yimei might impulsively agree. Yuanfeng, however, reminded Xiao Xiao of the intimate relationship they shared, questioning why she would push him towards another woman.

Xiao Xiao vehemently denied any significant relationship between them and warned him not to mention "that" again. Later, Xiao Xiao had a nightmare about Yuanfeng giving her a discarded item, indicating her own conflicted feelings. The next morning, Yichen teased Mosheng about her previous habit of sleeping until noon. Mosheng jokingly told him to make breakfast the next day, and Yichen humorously demanded "breakfast fee." Yichen arrived at the law firm with extra breakfast he had made.

Lao Yuan and Xiang Heng were astonished, with Lao Yuan joking that Yichen cooking would damage the firm's "gold standard" image among clients. Xiang Heng then showed Yichen a news report: INSO, Ying Hui's company, was being accused by the U. S. Securities and Exchange Commission of providing false financial statements. Lao Yuan and Xiang Heng discussed the severity of the charges, noting that such a scandal could cause the stock price to plummet and even lead to bankruptcy.

Yichen then received a phone call from his American friend, Jason, who confirmed that INSO was in deep trouble, with more problems likely to surface. Jason suggested that now was the opportune moment to take action against Ying Hui, describing him as conceited but noting his lawyers wouldn't be completely ignorant of the situation. Jason proposed sending a lawyer's letter to Ying Hui's representative lawyer to intimidate him.

However, Yichen declined, explaining they didn't have enough witnesses yet and didn't want to "spook him so soon." He then informed Jason that he would be visiting the United States in the near future.
