Hao Zeyu carried Fu Zi all the way back to their alley. Just before reaching home, they were startled by Fu Fangshu, who had been following them. A confrontation ensued, and Fu Fangshu was on the verge of fighting Hao Zeyu, but a startled Fu Zi, acknowledging her error, quickly pulled her father away and urged Hao Zeyu to leave. Inside, Fu Fangshu treated Fu Zi's twisted ankle.
He informed her that he had secured a subway ticket vending job for her, paying 4,000 yuan a month with benefits, insisting she take it. Fu Zi protested, explaining she was growing fond of her current role and felt a sense of hope, but her father wouldn't listen. He declared that he would go to Niu Meili to terminate her contract immediately, despite Fu Zi's pleas.
Fu Fangshu angrily confronted Niu Meili, demanding that Fu Zi be released from her employment. Niu Meili, however, was in a mood of grievance and became highly emotional, crying and accusing Fu Fangshu of implying she didn't care for Fu Zi. She then dramatically smashed a puzzle she was working on. Startled by her outburst, Fu Fangshu quickly apologized and began to drink with her. Meanwhile, Fu Zi worried about how to manage her father's stubbornness.
Even if she had to resign, she desperately wanted to help Hao Zeyu achieve a breakthrough first. She pondered how she, a former supermarket sales promoter, could succeed where Teng Dan, a seasoned agent, had failed after more than a decade with Hao Zeyu. Later that night, Fu Zi went to Teng Dan's apartment to confide in her. She apologized for deceiving Teng Dan previously and expressed how much she genuinely liked being an assistant.
Acknowledging her lack of experience and education, she confessed she felt incapable of helping Hao Zeyu and implored Teng Dan to reconsider helping him one last time, asking for Director Peng Yongkang's phone number. Teng Dan, however, remained resolute, stating that she was no longer Hao Zeyu's agent and had no obligation to get involved, adding that Fu Zi was useless. She then turned and walked away, leaving Fu Zi feeling disheartened.
On the bus ride home, Fu Zi received a call from Hao Zeyu. Their conversation quickly devolved into playful bickering. Hearing the bus announcement, Hao Zeyu teased her, assuming her father had kicked her out and offered her a place to stay at his apartment. Fu Zi then posed a serious question: if she were to quit, and Niu Meili replaced her with a more capable assistant, would he accept it?
Hao Zeyu casually replied that it would be great, as he wouldn't have to repay her the money he owed. He then added that if she left, he wouldn't stay with Niu Meili either, emphasizing that she was "heavy" rather than "important" to him. Fu Zi, though annoyed by his words, felt a strange sense of comfort. She explained her emotional state was due to her twisted ankle, and Hao Zeyu, though still teasing, seemed to accept it.
That night, Niu Meili got Fu Fangshu very drunk. While he was unconscious, she took several "intimate" photos of them sleeping next to each other in her bed. The next morning, Fu Fangshu returned home and knocked on Fu Zi's window, asking her to open the door. Still defiant about quitting her job, Fu Zi refused, saying she was following his orders not to go out. Just then, Niu Meili arrived, demanding to know why Fu Zi wasn't at work.
Seeing Fu Fangshu's anxiety, Niu Meili smugly produced the photos from the previous night, threatening to expose them. Realizing he had been thoroughly outmaneuvered, Fu Fangshu reluctantly conceded, not only allowing Fu Zi to continue working but also agreeing to Niu Meili's demand that he become Hao Zeyu's driver and bodyguard. Over breakfast, Fu Zi eyed her father, perplexed by his sudden and drastic change in attitude.
Fu Fangshu, visibly uncomfortable, nervously explained that while Niu Meili had indeed tricked him, the driver job was a good opportunity. He also expressed his worry about Fu Zi, noting that if something were to happen to him, she would be lost. Fu Zi felt a pang of guilt, realizing she was still a burden on her aging father.
Despite her earlier refusal, Teng Dan secretly provided Fu Zi with Director Peng Yongkang's schedule, allowing them to arrange a meeting for Saturday evening. Fu Zi excitedly reported the news to Niu Meili, who then informed Fu Zi that she planned to enroll her in systematic training soon. Niu Meili then instructed Fu Zi to visit a used car market to purchase a car to enhance Hao Zeyu's image.
In the meantime, Gu Dapeng, captivated by Niu Meili, frequently visited Fu Fangshu, bringing him health supplements and urging him to play matchmaker. Fu Fangshu, believing Gu Dapeng and Niu Meili to be completely incompatible, initially refused, but Gu Dapeng's persistence eventually wore him down, and he reluctantly agreed to arrange a meeting. Niu Meili and Fu Fangshu went to the used car market. Niu Meili, though outwardly composed, was inwardly nervous about the significant expense for Hao Zeyu's car.
Fu Fangshu, sensing her sacrifice, insisted on borrowing the money from her, promising to repay it with interest. With the car purchased, Niu Meili and Fu Zi dressed up. Fu Fangshu then drove them to pick up Hao Zeyu, and they set off to meet Director Peng Yongkang.
