Fu Zi was deeply affected by Hao Zeyu's words, initially feeling he was distancing himself but then realizing her own "business level was poor" and his words were justified, or that he was "small-minded" despite her "poor business level." Determined to help him, she stayed up all night, researching and "tinkering with things online" to create "Hao Zeyu fan posts" or "hiring water armies" to "whitewash" him and make him hear good things amidst online criticism.

To fund this, she asked her father for money, claiming it was for "pretty clothes," and also requested an advance on her salary from Niu Meili. Her father was worried about her lack of sleep and teased her for not washing her face. Niu Meili and her father, suspicious of her unusual behavior, secretly checked her computer and discovered her activities.

Fu Zi, who had spent days and nights on this, was initially angry they found out, but she explained her desire for Hao Zeyu to believe he was genuinely liked or to hear good things, especially given his strong self-esteem despite his usual playful demeanor. Her father, moved by her efforts and seeing she had stayed up for several nights, gave her additional money, telling Niu Meili to report it to him.

Niu Meili was heartbroken for Fu Zi, having seen her grow up and understanding her feelings completely. She worried about the significant gap between Fu Zi, a simple "hutong girl," and Bai Jiaojiao, a beautiful "experienced actress," considering them incomparable. Zhao Xiaobei explained that while Hao Zeyu and Fu Zi once belonged to the same world, Hao Zeyu's rapid advancement and connection with a "benefactor" had altered his perspective and mindset. This only deepened Niu Meili's concern.

To ease her worries, Zhao Xiaobei took Niu Meili to a square, pointing out the square dancers who, despite their individual family troubles, found joy and release in the dance, making their worries seem unimportant during that time. He encouraged Niu Meili to relax and not push herself too hard, even inviting her to join.

Although Niu Meili was too embarrassed, Zhao Xiaobei joined the dancing himself, which visibly helped Niu Meili relax and even brought a rare smile to her face. Yan Rujing (also referred to as Shi Rujing) was actively involved in Hao Zeyu's professional struggles. She contributed to him being criticized online and aimed to prove her ability to sustain his popularity even with a bad film and transform negative reviews into positive ones.

Despite Hao Zeyu's first movie being taken offline due to poor box office, Yan Rujing still intended to sign him. She warned Zhao Xiaobei that if they delayed, Hao Zeyu's value would diminish from a "valuable asset" to "clearance merchandise." Zhao Xiaobei, having changed his priorities after meeting Niu Meili and others, expressed sadness at Yan Rujing's methods, stating he now prioritized relationships over profit. Yan Rujing, however, remained indifferent and pressured Zhao Xiaobei to sign Hao Zeyu quickly.

Hao Zeyu's first film was quickly taken offline from cinemas due to its poor box office performance, leaving Fu Zi and Niu Meili disheartened. Despite this significant setback, Hao Zeyu remained resolute, refusing to give up acting. He expressed a strong desire to continue pursuing his craft, create "representative works," and escape the constant anxiety of being replaced, vowing to persevere.

A call from the renowned Director Wang to Niu Meili for Hao Zeyu to interview or audition immediately lifted everyone's spirits. Director Wang was considered far more prestigious than Peng Yongkang, and securing a role with him promised a bright future for Hao Zeyu. Hao Zeyu, accompanied by Fu Zi, Niu Meili, and Fu Zi's father, went to the hotel for the meeting.

Before he entered, Fu Zi encouraged him, telling him that in her heart, he was always the best. Inside, Hao Zeyu was polite and well-behaved, but Director Wang, to everyone's surprise, refused to let him perform from the script, stating he wanted Hao Zeyu to "act himself." Outside the room, Fu Zi, Niu Meili, and Fu Zi's father were extremely anxious about the interview or audition.

Inside, Director Wang repeatedly rejected Hao Zeyu's polite and well-behaved demeanor, stating it was not the Hao Zeyu he knew. He expressed a desire to see Hao Zeyu "make a fool of himself" or act outrageously. Hao Zeyu initially struggled to understand but eventually grasped that Director Wang wanted him to display his wilder, more extreme side.

He tried to explain that his past "extreme behavior" or "extreme reactions" occurred only in "extreme situations" and did not represent his true self. Director Wang then, hoping Hao Zeyu would cooperate, had an assistant present or personally held up a photo of Teng Dan in front of Hao Zeyu. Upon seeing the photo, Hao Zeyu's eyes immediately dulled as vivid memories of Teng Dan flooded his mind.

After a moment of self-composure by the window, Hao Zeyu returned and fiercely cursed Director Wang. He declared that while he had respected Director Wang as a great artist before, he now saw him as no different from "dog paparazzi," accusing him of wanting to not just make him "make a fool of himself" but to leave him "scarred all over." With that, Hao Zeyu took the photo of Teng Dan and walked out.

Director Wang, instead of being angry, merely laughed. Upon exiting, Hao Zeyu told Fu Zi, Niu Meili, and Fu Zi's father to go back first, stating he wanted to wander alone. When asked about the outcome, he vaguely replied "it was good" but didn't disclose what truly happened inside. Sensing something was amiss, Fu Zi, despite Hao Zeyu's insistence that she leave, let Niu Meili and her father return while she worriedly followed or chased after him.

Hao Zeyu walked alone through the streets, even burning Teng Dan's photo. Fu Zi found him and sat with him, offering her unconditional support regardless of what had occurred. Hao Zeyu smiled, acknowledging her consistent, blind support. He confessed to Fu Zi that he had "messed up" the interview/audition, specifically mentioning that Director Wang asked him to "act himself" and then used Teng Dan's photo, which led to Hao Zeyu "fiercely cursing" him.

Hao Zeyu expressed deep self-blame and guilt, feeling that Teng Dan had endured a difficult life because of him and was now being insulted or found no peace even in death. He also admitted feeling "disgusted" with himself, having almost been persuaded by Director Wang, but was ultimately relieved he hadn't succumbed to the provocation. To console him, Fu Zi shared a story about being scolded by her supervisor for making a mistake during her previous supermarket job.

She then led him to an arcade or a shopping mall to a dance machine, where they happily released stress. She reminded him of his previous wish there, which successfully led to weight loss and new friends, and suggested making a new wish for Teng Dan to forgive him, to let go of the past, and to embrace a new beginning.

Niu Meili returned home to find Ren Jiajia unexpectedly there; Ren Jiajia explained she had run away from home because her father had brought his new girlfriend home. Later, Hao Zeyu walked Fu Zi home, telling her to go inside as he wished to be alone for a while. Immediately after, he made a call to Bai Jiaojiao.
