Desperate to save her life, Ji Zhijie rushed the blood-stained Hao Yu to the hospital, his voice trembling as he called out her name. Upon arrival, Zhou Ziheng intercepted them, declaring his suspicion of Ji Zhijie’s illegal activities. Pushed to his breaking point while Hao Yu’s life hung in the balance, Ji Zhijie threatened to kill Zhou Ziheng and blow up the entire police station if he interfered for even one more second.

The confrontation was interrupted by a nurse asking for the patient’s medical history. Without hesitation, Ji Zhijie listed Hao Yu’s specific allergies: sulfonamides, ceftriaxone sodium, tetanus shots, and antibiotics. To expedite the surgery, he provided his fingerprint for the consent forms. Although the nurse noticed Ji Zhijie was also badly injured and urged him to seek treatment, he refused to leave until Feihu arrived to handle the remaining formalities.

While Hao Yu was in surgery, a tragic conversation took place between Jiali and Weihao. Jiali was distraught that Weihao had returned for her, wishing he had escaped while he had the chance. Weihao reminded her of their shared trauma under Liang Zhaokun, recalling how Jiali had once saved his life in the wild, feeding him her own blood and carrying him until her feet were bloodied. She had even volunteered to endure abuse in his place.

Weihao confessed that watching her suffer over the years felt like a thousand needles piercing his heart. Jiali admitted her drug addiction and that she had been outplayed by Hao Yu, leading to their current downfall. Resigned to their fate, they agreed that dying together was their only escape from the "cage" of Seronport. The surgery was successful in removing the bullet, but the doctor warned Ji Zhijie that Hao Yu remained in critical condition and might not wake up.

Distraught, Ji Zhijie went to a temple. Though he was not a believer, he knew Hao Yu was. He knelt before the altar, pleading for her life and offering his own remaining years in exchange for hers. He made a solemn vow to abandon his path of violence, swearing that if she survived, he would never commit another evil act or kill again.

To prove his devotion, he offered his own blood to fuel the prayer lamps, hoping the light would guide her soul back. Hao Yu eventually regained consciousness and found Ji Zhijie watching over her. The doctor confirmed she was out of danger, though she needed rest. Seeing Ji Zhijie’s fresh injuries, Hao Yu realized the depth of his sacrifice.

She finally confessed her past relationship with Zhou Ziheng but clarified that it had ended long ago and she had only kept it a secret to avoid a misunderstanding. Ji Zhijie, filled with regret, apologized for his lack of trust, acknowledging that his suspicion had nearly cost her life. They both realized that in their world of betrayal, they only had each other to rely on. Meanwhile, Zhou Ziheng met with Uncle Kun to report on the situation.

To protect Hao Yu and secure his own position, Zhou Ziheng presented photos framing Jiali as the sole mole within the organization. He claimed Jiali had been feeding information to the police while colluding with outsiders to steal the shipment. Focused only on the missing goods, Uncle Kun ordered Zhou Ziheng to use his police resources to track them down as a way to atone for his previous failures.

Zhou Ziheng secretly hoped this move would eventually help him reclaim Hao Yu and escape Uncle Kun’s control. Later, Ji Zhijie interrogated Jiali and Weihao about the missing shipment. Jiali admitted to betraying Uncle Kun out of hatred for the man who killed her mother, but she adamantly denied planting the tracker found on the cargo. She mocked Ji Zhijie, calling him Uncle Kun's lapdog and predicting that he would eventually die at Hao Yu's hands.

Recalling his sacred vow at the temple, Ji Zhijie refused to execute them. He stated he would no longer commit murder and left them to settle their own fate. Facing certain death from their wounds or Uncle Kun’s eventual retribution, Jiali and Weihao shared a final moment, hoping that in their next life, they would not be born in Seronport.
