Ji Zhijie remained deeply troubled by the recent heist, pressuring Feilong for updates on the culprits. Feilong reported that the theft was not the work of Yingquan’s remaining men, as Suphan had accounted for all casualties and found no one missing. While Feilong suspected Uncle Kun might be behind it, Ji Zhijie dismissed the idea, reasoning that Uncle Kun would not jeopardize his ongoing political campaign for the city council for such a move.

Their investigation into Hao Yu’s kidnapping also hit a dead end; though Suphan’s men were interrogated under pressure, none claimed responsibility. Feilong revealed that a masked stranger had simply dropped her off at their location. Ji Zhijie recalled a brief glimpse of a figure from that day, but the face remained a blur. Determined to find the truth, he ordered Feilong to meticulously check every shop's surveillance footage near the site to reconstruct the scene.

While Ji Zhijie focused on the cargo, Hao Yu had Feihu drive her to a secluded area to see a fortune teller. Feihu felt uneasy, noting the location's dark history—it was where Guan Renjie had met his end. He shared a rumor he had heard from a drunken Weihao, claiming that a "black cop" working for Uncle Kun had tracked Guan Renjie to this very spot.

Inside, the fortune teller asked if Hao Yu was still seeking a child, but she shifted her focus to her career. The draw resulted in a "lower-lower" luck slip once again. The fortune teller warned that she was currently trapped by false affection and shrouded in a fog where nothing was within her grasp. However, he noted a glimmer of hope, suggesting that rebirth often follows total ruin. Hao Yu’s mind drifted to her recent interactions with Zhou Ziheng.

Reflecting on his promotion and his promises of freedom, she began to suspect that her trust in him might have been a grave mistake. Standing before the memorial of her godfather, Guan Renjie, she lamented her blindness. She realized that while the world often claims darkness can never become light, she had forgotten that light can easily be corrupted into darkness.

If Zhou Ziheng truly was the mole planted by Liang Zhaokun and an accomplice in her godfather’s death, she vowed to hunt down everyone involved, regardless of the method. Meanwhile, Ji Zhijie was finalizing a transaction with Mr. Suphan. He originally planned to finish the deal before Uncle Kun’s 60th birthday but decided to delay it slightly to avoid drawing unwanted attention during the election.

He promised Hao Yu that once the business was settled, he would finally take her to the UK to see the snow for Christmas. Hao Yu, appearing uncharacteristically supportive, offered to prepare a special gift for Uncle Kun. She suggested gifting him the specific incense from her room that Ji Zhijie always enjoyed. Ji Zhijie was moved by her sudden warmth, unaware that Hao Yu had planted a recording device inside the gift.

The birthday celebration at Cangfeng was kept low-profile to suit Uncle Kun’s political ambitions. Ji Zhijie toasted to the patriarch’s future in the halls of power, while Hao Yu quietly placed her gift among the others. As the party progressed, Ji Zhijie became heavily intoxicated. Hao Yu instructed Feihu to take him home and have the staff prepare sobering soup, claiming she had to attend an event at the orphanage. Instead, she stayed to observe the fallout of her plan.

Behind closed doors, Zhou Ziheng visited Uncle Kun in secret, lighting the very incense Hao Yu had provided. He apologized for not being able to celebrate publicly and explained that his previous arrest of Ji Zhijie was merely a calculated move to maintain his cover and protect the cargo. Uncle Kun seemed satisfied, praising Zhou Ziheng’s performance and promising to reinstate his rank when the timing was right. After the meeting, Zhou Ziheng received a call from Hao Yu.

While he claimed to be at the police station, Hao Yu was actually watching him. They met at the memorial site, a place Hao Yu chose for its sensitivity. Zhou Ziheng was wary of being exposed, but Hao Yu was cold, remarking that angels and demons are often born on the same day. She told him that Ji Zhijie’s goods were hidden at Li Island's dock.

Zhou Ziheng was eager to move on the information, but before he left, Hao Yu offered a toast to their "successful revenge." As Zhou Ziheng departed, he sensed something was wrong and realized he was being followed, forcing him to flee in a hurry. Back at the banquet hall, the gift Hao Yu left began to play a recording that shattered the silence.

Uncle Kun listened in horror as Zhou Ziheng’s recorded voice filled the room, boasting about how he had framed Weihao and Zhong Jiali, and how he was using a "special mission" to trap Ji Zhijie and dismantle Cangfeng from within. The patriarch’s rage peaked as he realized the "wild dog" he had raised had used his own resources to betray him.

Realizing that Hao Yu was also involved with Zhou Ziheng, the shock was too much for Uncle Kun’s heart to bear, and he collapsed as his men scrambled for help. Standing alone at the memorial, Hao Yu reflected on her years of undercover work. She realized that the legal justice she had sought through traditional authorities was an impossibility in the lawless landscape of Seronport.

She whispered a final apology to her godfather, acknowledging that she had to abandon her original path to achieve her goal. Knowing this was her only chance to truly destroy the syndicate, she prepared to follow through with her own brand of justice.
