Following the internal turmoil, Uncle Kun holds a formal session to address the betrayals within the syndicate. Jiali, desperate to avoid the "Kennel," begs for mercy and claims she was misled by the Elders and the late Wei Hao. To prove her loyalty, she insists she personally executed the traitorous Wei Hao. Recognizing her past contributions to Cang Feng, Uncle Kun spares her but orders her to work under Ji Zhijie to atone for her mistakes.

Once alone with Uncle Kun, Ji Zhijie kneels and apologizes for executing Wei Hao without authorization and for offending the Elders. Uncle Kun dismisses the apology, noting that Wei Hao was a constant source of trouble and that the Elders had been using their seniority to suppress the younger members while engaging in illicit activities. He praises Ji Zhijie’s capability, but Ji Zhijie expresses his desire to retire.

Having spent years risking his life, he now wants a normal life and reveals he has already purchased a winery in the UK. Uncle Kun is reluctant to let his most effective "knife" go. He recalls their shared history: how he rescued Ji Zhijie from a trash heap, and how Ji Zhijie endured horrific injuries at age twelve and fifteen to protect the organization.

Finally, Kun presents an ultimatum: before Ji Zhijie leaves, he must complete one last dangerous deal involving "limited edition" goods to secure 30 million in bribe money for Kun’s political ambitions. Ji Zhijie has no choice but to accept. Privately, Kun’s sentimentality vanishes; he tells his subordinates that if this "fine knife" is going to break, it must break within his own "scabbard." Meanwhile, Hao Yu notices Ji Zhijie’s distance.

When they meet, he urges her to pack her belongings and move to the UK ahead of him, promising to join her soon. He gives her a stern warning: regardless of what she might hear or see, she must trust only him. Despite his reassurances, Hao Yu remains suspicious. She meets with her police contact, Zhou Ziheng, and provides a lead based on a gift box she saw on Ji Zhijie’s desk from an antique shop in Xingzhou Port.

Zhou identifies the buyer as Suchat Phamang, a notorious smuggler. He reminds a conflicted Hao Yu of the deaths of her family and Superintendent Guan, urging her to help him take Cang Feng down. Back at the estate, Hao Yu’s suspicions are further fueled when she sees Feihu secretly moving heavy rosewood crates. She discovers a magazine featuring Ji Zhijie and Zhu Shuyi, leading her to believe he is replacing her with the councilor's daughter.

She demands to enter a locked room, even threatening to break the door down. Ji Zhijie arrives and leads her inside, revealing that the "secret" was actually a Western piano he bought for her to fulfill her dream of playing for orphans. While momentarily touched, Hao Yu remains wary of his business with Councilor Zhu and secretly hides a surveillance bug on the piano. As the severe tropical monsoon Siren approaches, the weather observatory raises Signal No. 10.

Ji Zhijie receives word that the police are moving to inspect his logistics factory on the outlying island and immediately heads out to manage the cargo. Hao Yu uses the chaos of the storm to her advantage. She convinces Ji Zhijie to take Feihu for protection and then feigns concern for the maids, telling them to return to their families. Left alone, Hao Yu deliberately drops a running hairdryer into a basin of water, triggering a short circuit that plunges the entire estate into a blackout.
