The drama is adapted from Painted Skin, centering on Lu Wuyi, a Nine-Tailed Fox from the mysterious organization Wuxiang Yue. It tells the story of her entanglement with Wu Shiguang, Wu Wangyan, Ji Ling, and others as they compete for the Dragon God power possessed by the great demon Xiao Wei. Through cycles of suspicion and cooperation, they gradually uncover each other’s hidden motives, and ultimately face life-and-death choices in their quest to defeat Jiuying, the supreme lord of all demons.

Lu Wuyi is the youngest Nine-Tailed Fox of Wuxiang Yue. While searching for the fugitive fox demon Xiao Wei alongside her sister Wu Wangyan, she infiltrates the Wei residence in Luo’an City. At the same time, Wu Shiguang, driven by a deep blood feud, as well as Ji Ling, a mage of the Shilin Sect, and Li Jie, also enter the residence with their own agendas.
As they pursue the truth, their relationships shift between rivalry and alliance, each driven by different hidden purposes. In the repeated struggle for the Dragon God’s power, their choices continually reshape the course of fate. In the end, to protect peace in the human world, they make painful sacrifices and difficult decisions, ultimately succeeding in destroying Jiuying, the ruler of all demons, while exploring the timeless themes of true love and redemption.
