Ji Zhijie arrives just in time to rescue Hao Yu from her captors, promptly turning the two men over to the police under the watchful eye of Li Minglang. When Hao Yu eventually regains consciousness, she is stunned to find Feilong, Feihu, and even Xiaocui standing before her.

Having believed they had all met tragic ends, she listens as Feilong reveals that their survival was part of a meticulous plan orchestrated by Ji Zhijie to dismantle the criminal forces in Seronport and earn the trust of Councilman Zhu and Zhu Shuyi. Feilong confesses that on the day Ji Zhijie supposedly drove them away, he could not accept that his "big brother" had truly turned heartless.

He had returned to confront him, offering his life just to hear the truth. Moved by his loyalty, Ji Zhijie finally admitted that his brothers and Xiaocui were safe; he had even staged Xiaocui’s "execution" by sea, secretly arranging for her rescue. Once the brothers understood his goals, they refused to go abroad, choosing instead to stay and help him finish the job.

The shift in Ji Zhijie's behavior stemmed from a deep sense of guilt following Hao Yu’s attempt to harm herself. He realized that if his love forced her toward death, it would be better for her to live while hating him. To keep her alive and motivated to seek justice, he played the role of a heartless tyrant, even using Guan Renjie’s name to compel her to eat.

He vowed to personally reclaim the justice she sought, clearing a path through the "mountain of blades" for her, even if it meant he had to descend into hell himself. To ensure the plan's legal success, Ji Zhijie approached Li Minglang, recognizing him as the most upright and clean officer in the precinct. He offered to help the police dismantle every syndicate in Seronport, including his own organization, Cangfeng.

In exchange, he requested two conditions: that his brothers receive leniency and a chance to reform, and that Hao Yu be guaranteed absolute safety and freedom in her role as an informant. Li Minglang agreed, noting that despite Ji Zhijie’s resourcefulness, he truly was a "romantic at heart." Ji Zhijie’s strategy was to "become the darkest person" to infiltrate the inner circle of the syndicates. Every act of cruelty was a performance.

When Ji Zhijie punished Feiying and drove his brothers away, it was a ruse to protect them from the upcoming fallout. During these moments, Zhu Shuyi watched, convinced of his ruthlessness. She proposed a marriage alliance, seeing Ji Zhijie as a valuable asset who could take the blame for her "Godfather" in exchange for immense power. Ji Zhijie played along, retreating to his study only after avoiding her advances, all while secretly watching over Hao Yu.

On a night of torrential rain, Ji Zhijie watched from the shadows as Hao Yu knelt outside, pleading for the others. He instructed a servant to deliver a umbrella along with a scripted lie about Feihu being maimed and a server’s eyes being gouged out. He hoped these fabricated horrors would finally convince Hao Yu to distance herself from him for her own safety.

During a tense gathering with the syndicate leaders, Ji Zhijie was pressured to provide a "sacrifice" to prove his loyalty. He callously dismissed Hao Yu as just a woman, allowing her to be taken so that he could secure the trust of the "insiders" and ultimately remove her from the line of fire. As the day of a new product launch arrives, Zhu Shuyi calls to ensure everything is ready for the event where many high-profile figures will be present.

Ji Zhijie assures her that all preparations are complete, knowing that the most dangerous part of his plan is about to culminate. Looking at a newly renovated room he had prepared for Hao Yu, he silently hopes she will remain safe while he steps out to face the final act. For Ji Zhijie, the end of this long, deceptive game is finally within reach.
