Hao Yu traveled to a temple to fulfill a vow, where she discovered a prayer slip Ji Zhijie had written in his own blood, pleading for her safety. While there, she had a secret meeting with Zhou Ziheng. Zhou was suspicious of her motives, questioning why she had risked her life to take a bullet for Ji Zhijie and wondering if she had truly fallen for him.

Hao Yu explained it was a tactical move; if Ji Zhijie had died, their investigation would have been ruined as the cargo would have fallen into the hands of others like Wei Hao. She also revealed that she had tried to contact Zhou through a monk at Duchen Temple, but Zhou explained he never received the message because he was under internal investigation and constant surveillance by Ji Zhijie’s men.

Zhou Ziheng admitted he had managed to protect their cover by pinning all their previous mistakes and leaks on Zhong Jiali. Though he apologized for not asking about her recovery sooner, he pressed her for the location of the lost goods. Hao Yu admitted she was still in the dark. Despite the mounting danger, she remained committed to the promise she made to her godfather, vowing to bring the Seronport criminal elements to justice.

Their meeting was interrupted by Ji Zhijie’s arrival. Ji immediately asserted his protection over Hao Yu, warning Zhou Ziheng that she was his woman and that any further legal inquiries should go through his lawyer. Once they were alone, Hao Yu questioned Ji Zhijie about why he hadn't told her the cargo was missing. Ji Zhijie apologized, explaining that the situation was volatile and their planned escape to the UK would have to be postponed.

He asked for her trust, reminding her of their pact to be honest. Seeking a moment of peace, he took her to an orphanage. There, a young boy asked Hao Yu to play the piano, and she led the children in a performance of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" while Ji Zhijie watched her with a rare look of serenity. The couple later spent time together on a secluded beach, but a sudden downpour forced them back to the car.

The mood darkened when they returned home. Hao Yu opened a package that had been delivered for her, only to find a disc covered in blood—a gruesome warning. Ji Zhijie’s subordinate, Feihu, reported that Suphan, the brother of the deceased Suchart, was convinced Ji Zhijie was responsible for the murder and the theft of the goods. Suphan’s men had already retaliated by attacking their territory and slashing the faces of several gang members.

Suphan had sent a representative named Yingquan to demand a meeting. Yingquan, formerly known as "Lynx," shared a bitter history with Ji Zhijie, who had wiped out his family years ago. When Ji Zhijie went to meet him, he found Yingquan hosting a lavish party. Despite the personal enmity, Ji Zhijie attempted to negotiate, offering three racecourses in Thailand as compensation for the misunderstanding. However, Yingquan was not interested in property.

He demanded that Ji Zhijie either kowtow in submission or hand over Hao Yu for his own amusement, even showing off a "work of art" related to her. Ji Zhijie’s eyes grew cold as he warned Yingquan never to touch what belonged to him, asserting that he was still the same ruthless man he had always been. Behind the scenes, the gang’s Godfather, Kun Shu, observed the tension. He noted that Hao Yu was Ji Zhijie’s only true weakness.

While some suggested kidnapping her to appease Yingquan, Kun Shu warned that pushing Ji Zhijie too far would turn the "wolf cub" he had raised into a monster that could destroy them all. Fearing for Hao Yu's safety, Ji Zhijie suggested sending her to the UK early with Feilong and some companions, but she refused, insisting they face the crisis together.

Ji Zhijie eventually decided to deal with Suphan directly, ordering Feihu and Feilong to stay behind to guard their territory and keep a close eye on Hao Yu. Feeling suffocated by the surveillance, Hao Yu managed to slip away from Feihu by pretending she wanted to eat wontons at a familiar shop. She met Zhou Ziheng in secret again, informing him that she believed the missing goods were actually in Yingquan’s possession.

She urged him to act, but Zhou revealed the police already had other informants providing details. Hao Yu expressed her exhaustion with the double life, longing for freedom and a chance to start over. However, as she left the meeting, she was suddenly ambushed, drugged, and knocked unconscious.
