Tianying, weak from donating blood, woke up to Xu Xingcheng holding her hand. He expressed his relief, saying he almost lost his best brother and his favorite girl. Tianying apologized for worrying him but insisted on returning home immediately, fearful that her brother, Tianci, and her father, Nine Red—who was also hospitalized—would discover what happened. Despite her protests, Xu Xingcheng carried her out of the hospital, reminding her that as her doctor, she should follow his advice.
He then drove her home and gave her "shaokela" chocolate, explaining it symbolized sweet love and would aid her recovery from blood loss and shock. When Tianying arrived home with the chocolate, she ran into an anxious Tianci, whom she quickly sent away before happily admiring Xu Xingcheng's gift. Before she entered her house, Xu Xingcheng asked why she had risked her life for Luo Fusheng at the dance.
Tianying clarified that she had only saved Luo Fusheng because she mistook him for Xu Xingcheng. Understanding, Xu Xingcheng thanked her and left. Back at his own home, Xu Xingcheng, seeing his sister Xu Xingyuan asleep, confided his anxieties aloud. He was scared of losing Tianying's affection to Luo Fusheng and feared that this rivalry would cost him his best friend.
Meanwhile, Hong Lan remained distraught by Luo Fusheng’s bedside, blaming herself for organizing the ball that led to his injury. Lin Qikai brought her a cake, urging her to eat, but she was too consumed by worry to have an appetite, noting that the cake was Luo Fusheng's favorite. After staying up all night by Luo Fusheng’s side, Lin Qikai covered the sleeping Hong Lan with his jacket.
The next morning, Tianying, safely back home, recounted the events of the previous night to Tianci. Tianci reprimanded her for associating with Luo Fusheng and for getting too close to Xu Xingcheng, warning her against potential complications. Tianying, however, defended her friendships and asserted her independence, also cautioning Tianci about the negative consequences for their opera troupe if Luo Fusheng did not recover. Back at the hospital, Luo Fusheng finally regained consciousness. Hong Lan and Lin Qikai were relieved.
Lin Qikai informed Luo Fusheng that Xu Xingcheng’s prompt surgery and Tianying's blood donation had saved his life. A nurse then arrived, stating that Dean Chen was looking for Xu Xingcheng regarding his unauthorized surgery. Luo Fusheng, still weak, attempted to get up to defend Xu Xingcheng, but Lin Qikai intervened, assuring him he would handle the matter with the Dean. Lin Qikai met with Dean Chen to discuss Xu Xingcheng’s situation.
When Xu Xingcheng arrived, fearing dismissal for performing unauthorized surgery, Dean Chen informed him that Lin Qikai had already explained everything. Due to Lin Qikai’s intervention and Xu Xingcheng’s decisive action to save a life, Dean Chen not only exonerated him but also immediately promoted him to a formal doctor. Xu Xingcheng was overjoyed and grateful. Back in Luo Fusheng’s room, Lin Qikai relayed the good news about Xu Xingcheng’s promotion.
Luo Fusheng then urged Hong Lan, who refused to leave his side, to go home and rest. With Lin Qikai's additional persuasion, reminding her that her prolonged stay would make Luo Fusheng unable to rest well, cause her father to worry, and potentially hinder Luo Fusheng’s recovery, Hong Lan finally agreed to leave and get some rest. Lin Qikai took a visibly tired Hong Lan to breakfast.
She initially refused to eat, still preoccupied with Luo Fusheng, but Lin Qikai reassured her about Luo Fusheng’s recovery and emphasized that her well-being was essential for him. He also reminded her that Luo Fusheng himself had asked him to take her home, implying her continued presence would only cause him more worry. Convinced, Hong Lan finally began to eat. Meanwhile, Tianying arrived at Luo Fusheng’s hospital room with a bowl of chicken soup.
She attempted to leave after placing it down, but Luo Fusheng, who had been feigning sleep, stopped her. He insisted she owed him gratitude for saving his life. Tianying retorted that he had too many enemies and she only intervened because she mistook him for Xu Xingcheng. Feigning severe pain and an inability to drink by himself, Luo Fusheng coaxed Tianying into personally feeding him the soup, much to his delight.
Xu Xingcheng suddenly appeared, taking the chicken soup and insisting on feeding Luo Fusheng himself, claiming it was his duty as Luo Fusheng’s attending doctor. Luo Fusheng, annoyed by the interruption, then demanded Tianying visit him for two hours daily as repayment for saving his life. When a nurse arrived needing a family signature, Luo Fusheng discreetly reminded Tianying of her "three wishes" debt, making this demand her second wish.
Tianying, feeling cornered, reluctantly agreed before leaving to visit her father, Nine Red. Tianci had already reported Tianying’s dance attendance to Nine Red, who reprimanded her for not focusing on her opera. Xu Xingcheng then entered, ostensibly for a doctor’s ward round. Tianying introduced him to Nine Red, reminding her father that Xu Xingcheng had saved him after his fall.
Xu Xingcheng made a good impression, introducing himself as Tianying’s friend and offering to help Nine Red in the hospital, even suggesting he call him "Uncle." Tianci, clearly displeased with Xu Xingcheng’s presence, quickly pulled Tianying away, claiming they needed to practice for an evening performance. Seeing them leave, Xu Xingcheng orchestrated a ruse, having a nurse tell Tianci that Nine Red’s hospital bill needed to be settled, effectively sending Tianci away.
With Tianci gone, Xu Xingcheng revealed his trick, citing the idiom "all's fair in war," to a surprised Tianying, then took her to witness his oath ceremony as a newly appointed formal doctor. Tianying watched, feeling a sense of longing and clearly impressed by Xu Xingcheng’s dignified speech, which emphasized practicing medicine with conscience and dignity, only fulfilling obligations to patients, never acting against humanity, and defending peace.
Upon Lin Qikai's return home, his father, Lin Daoshan, expressed concern about his close ties with Luo Fusheng, reminding him of the ongoing rivalry between the Lin and Hong families. Lin Daoshan disparaged Luo Fusheng’s arrogance and Xu Xingcheng’s indecisiveness, citing the recent attack on Luo Fusheng as a consequence of his own actions.
Lin Daoshan then urged Lin Qikai to foster a relationship with Xu Xingyuan, as she was a more suitable match than Hong Lan, and instructed him to deliver a calligraphy scroll to her, emphasizing the importance of balance in Dongjiang and the Lin family’s resolve to maintain it. When Lin Qikai visited Xu Xingyuan, she was visibly distressed, experiencing fragmented flashbacks of a traumatic past event.
After he helped her calm down, Lin Qikai gave her the calligraphy and asked to tour her art studio. To his surprise, he discovered numerous hidden portraits of himself, revealing Xu Xingyuan’s long-held affection for him, which caused her to blush and quickly leave the room. Hong Zhengbao, the head of the Hong family, was consumed with finding the assailant who shot Luo Fusheng.
He spoke on the phone with Director Xu, both frustrated by the lack of leads despite extensive searches. Hong Zhengbao refused to eat, stating that the attack on his protégé on his own turf was a direct affront to him, and he couldn't rest until the culprit was found. His butler urged him to care for his health, reminding him that the truth would eventually surface.
Hong Lan then returned home, informing her father that Luo Fusheng had awakened and was out of danger. Relieved, Hong Zhengbao told her that Director Xu would soon arrive to discuss strategies, and he encouraged her to go rest after her exhausting night.
