Tianying, whose voice allowed her to speak normally but was no longer capable of singing, faced the displeasure of boss Ma. He arrived at her home, demanding an explanation for the loss of his star performer, complaining about the month-long delays and financial losses the troupe had caused him. Luo Fusheng stepped in, readily offering to cover all the theater’s expenses. Boss Ma's mood immediately brightened, but Tianying emerged and politely refused Luo Fusheng's generosity.

She explained that she understood her master's dying wish was for her to bring glory to the opera troupe, but now she was utterly incapable. She realized that continuing to keep the troupe together would only bring endless trouble to everyone involved and herself, like a "bottomless hole." She tearfully declared her decision to disband the troupe, releasing everyone to find their own paths.

Luo Fusheng visited Tianying, who was firm in her decision to disband the troupe and leave Dongjiang. She explained that a doctor suggested her voice might recover if she relaxed, but she couldn't relax as long as the troupe remained in Dongjiang, meaning she might never sing again. Feeling useless without her voice and committed to her word like her father, she stated there was nothing left for her in Dongjiang.

Before leaving, she entrusted Luo Fusheng with a letter for Xu Xingcheng. In the letter, Tianying expressed her true feelings for Xu Xingcheng and the unavoidable realities that forced her to leave, unable to say goodbye in person. Upon receiving and reading the letter, Xu Xingcheng was deeply moved and tearful. Luo Fusheng later confronted Tianying, accusing her of escaping and reminding her of her previous promise to shoulder the troupe’s responsibilities.

Tianying insisted she had tried her best, but her voice was gone. Luo Fusheng, however, countered that the troupe could be rebuilt and her voice could be healed, recalling her determination to overcome challenges. He then invoked his third wish, demanding that she stay in Dongjiang, especially since she hadn't found her birth parents. Luo Fusheng promised that if she stayed, he would use every means to help her find her biological parents and cure her voice.

Deeply moved by his sincerity, Tianying agreed to stay, on the condition that Luo Fusheng not inform Xu Xingcheng, believing that keeping their distance would be best for both of them. Luo Fusheng accepted her terms. Meanwhile, Hong Lan was at a bar, drinking alone and feeling dejected after her recent heartbreak. Lin Qikai found her there, offering comfort. He listened patiently as Hong Lan poured out her grievances, trying to alleviate her sorrow.

Hong Lan complained about her father's unwanted engagement arrangement with Xu Xingcheng and her unrequited love for Luo Fusheng, who, to her dismay, favored Tianying. She tearfully wondered why she couldn't compare to Tianying, despite all her sacrifices. Lin Qikai, in turn, reassured her that she was "the best girl in the world" and advised her not to change herself for anyone's love.

He confessed his long-held, silent love for her since childhood, admiring her bold and affectionate spirit, and described how he had tried to keep his feelings hidden forever. As Lin Qikai was attempting to make a full confession and suggest they leave Dongjiang together to escape their families' feuds, a very intoxicated Hong Lan drifted off to sleep. He gently kissed her forehead before leaving. Tianying, now deciding to stay, found a modest place to live.

Luo Fusheng thought the location was too remote and offered to find her a better one. However, Tianying declined, insisting on supporting herself to truly overcome difficulties and fulfill her late master’s last wish. Despite her refusal, Luo Fusheng secretly intervened, instructing his subordinate to negotiate the rent down from five to two yuan, a remarkably low price. Tianying was happy with the affordable rent, but Tianci remained visibly displeased, still holding a grudge against Luo Fusheng.

That evening, Tianci brought Tianying a restorative soup. Tianying asked him to knock before entering her room, which Tianci found baffling. He questioned why she suddenly introduced "inexplicable rules," asserting that their relationship was now that of husband and wife, not merely siblings. Tianying firmly corrected him, stating they were not married. Tianci became enraged, accusing her of disregarding their master's dying wish and implying she wasn't worthy of calling him "father" if she wouldn't be his wife.

Tianying acknowledged her past reliance on him and her increased gratitude since learning of her true parentage. She sincerely promised to care for him and live by his side, stating she would find a job to support them, proving she could still make a living even without singing opera.

Tianci, touched by her words, declared he would no longer force her into marriage, content for her to call him "brother," and said he would be happy if one day she called him "husband." He merely wished for their disputes to end so their father's spirit could rest in peace. The next morning, Luo Fusheng arrived at Tianying's doorstep early. He was upset to learn that Tianying was going out to find work. He angrily questioned why Tianci, a grown man, was not earning money and allowing a "weak woman" like Tianying to fend for herself.
