Tianying returned home to find Luo Fusheng had prepared a lavish dinner at the Time Gate Restaurant. However, she had no appetite, burdened by her struggles with acting. She expressed her frustration, feeling she lacked the necessary skills and experience for the big screen, and questioned whether she had chosen the right path.

Luo Fusheng tried to reassure her, telling her that it was her first time and that improvement would come step by step, but Tianying remained disappointed in herself and retired to her room. The next day, to help Tianying find inspiration for her acting, Luo Fusheng enlisted Luo Cheng to rehearse with them.

Despite Luo Cheng's complaints about his role and costume, Luo Fusheng instructed Tianying on the importance of understanding all characters to "meet trick to trick," comparing it to strategy in the Jianghu. Their impromptu rehearsal proved effective, impressing the director who praised Tianying's improved performance.

Excited by her progress, Tianying shared the good news with Luo Fusheng, who then revealed his own: he had sourced special medicine from abroad, prescribed by Dr. Robert, to treat her throat, which he was going to collect shortly. He hoped it would enable her to revive her opera troupe and promote Chinese dramatic arts on a grander scale.

Luo Cheng, overhearing, teased Luo Fusheng about his intentions towards Tianying, but Luo Fusheng affirmed he would not take advantage, acknowledging Tianying's past trauma. Luo Fusheng and Luo Cheng headed to the pier to retrieve the medicine. Unbeknownst to them, Xu Xingcheng had set a trap. Xu Xingcheng, who had earlier spoken with Dr. Robert about Luo Fusheng's request for throat medicine for Tianying, had arranged for the medicine to be swapped with "big smoke" (drugs).

When Luo Fusheng arrived, Xu Xingcheng, accompanied by police, accused him of smuggling drugs. Despite Luo Fusheng's protests that the items were medicine, the police uncovered the illicit goods, leading to Luo Fusheng and Luo Cheng's arrest. Xu Xingcheng then brought Luo Fusheng, still handcuffed, before Hong Zhengbao, pretending concern for the Hong family's reputation while subtly undermining Luo Fusheng. He presented the drugs as "mountains of iron to confirm" Luo Fusheng's guilt.

Luo Cheng vehemently defended Luo Fusheng, claiming he was framed, but Xu Xingcheng countered that he was merely "enforcing the law impartially" and was allowing Hong Zhengbao to handle it out of respect for their family ties. He sarcastically advised Hong Zhengbao to uphold justice to avoid being ridiculed. After releasing Luo Fusheng's handcuffs with a smirk, Xu Xingcheng and his officers departed. Hong Zhengbao sternly questioned Luo Fusheng about the contents of the shipment.

Luo Fusheng admitted it was medicine for Tianying's throat. Enraged, Hong Zhengbao lashed out, proclaiming that Luo Fusheng would inevitably be ruined by a woman. Hou Li exacerbated the situation, emphasizing how this incident—involving drugs, a woman who had "stirred police station to deliberately suppressed" them, and caused "Hong brothers turn against each other"—violated Hong family law, which stipulated "family rule service" (punishment by family rules) and "Evicted from Hongjia" (expulsion from the Hong family) for such offenses.

He argued that protecting Luo Fusheng would make the Hong family a laughingstock and "hard to convince the public in the Jianghu." Luo Cheng pleaded, reminding his godfather that the Hong family had never been involved with drugs, but Luo Fusheng, with a resigned expression, accepted full responsibility, stating he understood whatever decision his godfather made. Hong Zhengbao then ordered the "family rule service" and Luo Fusheng's expulsion from the Hong family. Luo Fusheng silently endured the punishment and departed.

Hong Lan, upon learning of Luo Fusheng's expulsion, rushed to confront her father, protesting that Luo Fusheng had been framed. Hong Zhengbao, unmoved, insisted that as the Hong family's "two in charge" and manager of the dock, Luo Fusheng had failed to protect the family's honor and had brought this disgrace upon himself. He argued that Luo Fusheng needed to experience hardship to learn self-control.

He then shifted the conversation to Hong Lan's marriage, stating that with the Hong family's reputation now compromised, her marriage to Xu Xingcheng needed to proceed quickly. Hong Lan vehemently refused, accusing Xu Xingcheng of orchestrating the entire plot and declaring him a scoundrel, but Hong Zhengbao dismissed her arguments and sent her to her room. Luo Fusheng, injured and disheartened, returned to Tianying's house.

He embraced her and explained that he had "made a mistake" and been "Evicted from Hongjia," asking if he could stay with her. Tianying immediately welcomed him, declaring her home was now his. Shortly after, Hong Lan arrived and, unaware Luo Fusheng had just explained the situation to Tianying, dramatically revealed that Xu Xingcheng was behind the framing. She then harshly blamed Tianying for all of Luo Fusheng's troubles, calling her a source of "disaster and pain."

Luo Fusheng intervened, taking sole responsibility and asserting it was "between men." After Hong Lan left, Tianying, feeling deeply remorseful, prepared a sweet soup for Luo Fusheng and reaffirmed that his presence was welcome in her home. Meanwhile, Xu Ruian confronted Xu Xingcheng, scolding him for using such disruptive tactics and jeopardizing his "plan to win over the three families." Xu Xingcheng, however, coolly argued that his actions were strategic.

He explained that by removing Luo Fusheng, Hong Zhengbao would lose his "right-hand man," leaving the Hong family vulnerable and forcing them to rely more heavily on the Xu family, thereby accelerating Xu Ruian's plans. Xu Ruian remained somewhat skeptical, questioning if he too would be "powerless" without Xu Xingcheng's support. The next morning, Tianying insisted on going to work despite Luo Fusheng's injuries, telling him to rest and recover at home.

Lin Qikai then arrived, having read news reports of Luo Fusheng's expulsion for drug possession. After confirming with Luo Fusheng that Xu Xingcheng was indeed responsible, Lin Qikai expressed his anger at Xu Xingcheng's betrayal of their brotherhood and also blamed Tianying for causing the rift between them. He offered Tianying a ride to the studio. During the drive, Lin Qikai recounted his deep fraternal bond with Luo Fusheng and Xu Xingcheng, which had existed since childhood.

He directly advised Tianying to "quit automatically" and "stay away from them" to prevent further harm, subtly reminding her of his influence in Dongjiang. Tianying acknowledged his words with a heavy heart. Later, on the film set, Hong Lan, playing a hostile character in a scene, deliberately made things difficult for Tianying, forcing multiple retakes and causing her distress.
