Ye Qian and Dan Qing sat across from each other, reminiscing about their shared past. Dan Qing, concealing her true motives, claimed she had abandoned her art to run a small business. She deliberately steered the conversation toward their former romance, hoping to exploit Ye Qian’s lingering feelings for her own professional gain. As they were about to part ways, Ye Qian noticed someone secretly taking photographs of him from behind.

Later, Ye Qian received a digital copy of a portrait he had painted of Dan Qing years ago. The image stirred up painful memories, leaving him in a somber mood. Meanwhile, the police confirmed that Niu Bosheng’s bag had indeed been stolen, but the investigation remained stalled. During a search of Niu’s room, Ye Qian and Si Yuanlong discovered disturbing albums on a bookshelf.

Instead of artwork, the books were filled with voyeuristic photos of Wang Xiaole’s daily life, alongside a bizarre collection of multi-colored condoms. This unsettling discovery immediately became a primary focus for the team. Under interrogation, Niu Bosheng admitted to his obsession with Wang Xiaole but adamantly denied being her killer. He claimed he had never confessed his feelings, even wishing for her to be happy with Wu Da.

However, he described how Wu Da became abusive and constantly extorted money from Wang Xiaole after their divorce. Niu admitted he often wanted to intervene, though the couple frequently reconciled. When confronted about the condoms, Niu defended them as a "special hobby" and a symbol of his loyalty to Wang Xiaole, even providing receipts for his purchases. Ye Qian felt that Niu’s arrest had been suspiciously easy, as if the investigation were being manipulated.

Suspecting that either Niu or Wu Da was lying, he returned to the flowerbed at the crime scene. He became convinced the real killer had deliberately misled the police to frame the two men by exploiting security blind spots. He began a series of physical simulations in the garden, meticulously tracing the possible escape routes.

In the meantime, Si Yuanlong reviewed surveillance footage from the day Niu’s bag was stolen, while Leng Qiming tracked down the classmate who had supposedly lent money to Wu Da. The classmate revealed that Wu Da likely knew the funds actually came from Niu Bosheng. However, when Wu Da was brought in for questioning, he denied any such knowledge and cursed Niu, calling him a pervert.

That night, Ziwu spotted a fleeting figure on the surveillance footage, though the image was too blurry to distinguish between Niu and Wu Da. Simultaneously, Ye Qian continued his reenactment, mimicking Wu Da’s drunken state at the flowerbed. Observing an elderly man walking a dog, Ye Qian realized that by using a shortcut and a quick change of clothes, the killer could have reached Wang Xiaole’s home, committed the murder, and disposed of the backpack in the lake.

The killer could then have returned to the flowerbed to pose as the unconscious Wu Da just as the elderly witness passed by, perfectly matching the man's testimony. During this simulation, Ye Qian noticed a scrape on his own arm that mirrored a wound on Wu Da’s hand. The following day, he successfully located bloodstains on a nearby wall along the route and secured the evidence.
