> Resumos de The Truth
The investigation into Jiang Honghai takes a psychological turn when the police notice a striking resemblance between the intended victim, Chen Xiaomeng, and a girl named He Jie from over twenty years ago. This connection prompts a deeper interrogation of Jiang Lianhong. Faced with the evidence, Jiang Lianhong finally breaks his silence about the past. He reveals that the sexual assault case from twenty-two years ago, for which he served a long prison sentence, was actually committed by Jiang Honghai.
At the time, Jiang Honghai had gotten the thirteen-year-old He Jie pregnant and forced her into an abortion. To protect his son, Jiang Honghai’s father, a powerful village official, orchestrated a massive cover-up by planting Jiang Lianhong’s underwear at the scene and coercing the victim into giving false testimony. Under the weight of the village chief's influence and a payoff of 20,000 yuan and an acre of land, Jiang Lianhong’s own father had begged him to take the blame.
To track Jiang Honghai’s current whereabouts, the police locate Jiang Han, a fellow villager and mason trainer. Jiang Han describes Jiang Honghai as a solitary man with poor health who obsesses over a specific diet, requiring soup made from expensive, live brood fish every day. Jiang Han also reveals that he had given Jiang Honghai the keys to a storage warehouse in an abandoned building at No. 28 North Xinyuan Lane a year ago.
Acting on this lead, the police raid the dilapidated structure. Though Jiang Honghai attempts to hide in an adjacent room, he is quickly apprehended. During the interrogation, Leng Qiming confronts him with the truth, noting that Jiang Lianhong was once again willing to take the fall for him. Jiang Honghai dismisses the sacrifice, claiming Jiang Lianhong only did it for the money needed to treat his father’s uremia and dialysis.
He shows no remorse, even though his actions have destroyed five separate families. With the DNA evidence and the truth of the old case finally coming to light, Jiang Honghai is sentenced to life imprisonment. With the serial killer case closed, the local officers gather at Lei Ge’s Restaurant for a retirement dinner honoring Old Yang from the propaganda department.
The diner’s manager, Jing Jie, a dedicated military wife, helps look after the children of the officers while they are busy. Later that evening, Leng Qiming returns home to find his retired father being cared for by a nanny. The house is filled with trophies of his father’s past glory, but the elderly man is now struggling with dementia.
The nanny informs Leng Qiming that his father had an episode earlier that day, frantically trying to use an outdated phone book of landline numbers to call his old comrades. Despite the resolution of the case, Ye Qian remains fixated on finding Chen Yumo. He visits a taxi company and manages to find the driver who picked her up.
Following the driver's lead, he arrives at a hotel to inquire about her, unaware that a mysterious figure is secretly following him and taking photographs. Meanwhile, in the criminal underworld, Dan Qing and Huo Ge meet with A Qiang, a representative for the crime boss Bao Hei, at a private club. The atmosphere is tense as they discuss the "Nanbang family" influence and their need to transition their drug business to the Wannan market due to tightening border controls.
To test their loyalty and ensure they aren't undercover police, A Qiang tries to force them to use drugs, which he refers to as "flesh." Dan Qing firmly refuses, stating that her organization has a strict rule against members using their own product. When a subordinate offers to use it instead to settle the tension, Dan Qing reprimands him and decides to leave.
Despite the friction, the following day, A Qiang provides Dan Qing and Huo Ge with a new residence at No. 4 Dongshan Road as an apology. Unbeknownst to the gangs, the Provincial Narcotics Division is closely monitoring the situation. They have identified Huo Ge’s group as the third-largest supplier of new drugs in the southwest and know that Bao Hei controls the majority of the distribution channels in Wannan. The police realize a partnership between the two groups is inevitable.
The temporary peace is shattered when local villagers discover a body with a slit throat in a field. At the same time, a patrol officer notices a suspicious man in black, identified as He Changchun, near a roadside eatery. When the officer approaches him to check his identification, He Changchun turns violent and kills the officer before fleeing. Leng Qiming and his team arrive at the scene shortly after, finding that the victim in the field has been dead for over twelve hours.
