Leng Qiming and the team from the department gather at the No-Name Diner, where everyone is busy wrapping dumplings. Despite the communal effort, Han Zhao remains bitter, unable to move past her resentment toward Ye Qian. When she notices his cold attitude, her anger boils over, and she storms out of the restaurant. Meanwhile, Jiao Lei attempts to play matchmaker for Ziwu and Leng Qiming.

He mentions that Director Hu from the neighborhood office knows a young man who is a perfect match for Ziwu and encourages her to meet him. Ziwu looks to Leng Qiming for a reaction, but he simply agrees that she should go. Dejected by his lack of interest, Ziwu forces a smile and suggests meeting the man another time. The tension between Han Zhao and Ye Qian persists as they enter a cold war.

Recognizing that this stalemate cannot last, she confronts him one last time about his feelings. Although she expects the answer, her heart still sinks when Ye Qian confirms that he has only ever viewed her as a friend. After she leaves in tears, Si Yuanlong rushes to catch up with her. He offers a patient ear and comforts her, quoting Oscar Wilde to explain that true love means being able to love again even after a departure.

He encourages her to look forward, promising that someone more suitable is waiting for her. That night, Leng Qiming drives Ziwu home. She lingers by the car, secretly hoping he will tell her to skip the blind date. Instead, he pushes her away, advising her that social compatibility is vital and that a woman should never marry beneath her status. His words reveal that he feels unworthy of her and is intentionally maintaining a distance.

The next day, Dan Qing goes shopping for an outfit to wear to her meeting with Ye Qian. As Huo waits impatiently, she finds a garment with a panda pattern, which triggers memories of an old date where Ye Qian chose a similar design for her. Nearby, Bao Hei's men keep a close watch, puzzled by why Huo would allow his girlfriend to meet her former lover.

The investigation into the hospital stabbing takes a major step forward when the caregiver, Zhao Junxin, is arrested for the murder of Jiang Yuzhen and the attack on Liao Guangyong. In a tearful confession, she reveals that her motive was revenge for her son, who was killed eight years ago in a drunk driving accident involving Liao's BMW SUV.

Zhao, who lost the use of her leg in the same crash, insists that while the news claimed Liao’s driver, Li, was at fault, Liao had actually paid Li to take the fall for him. She claims she never intended to kill the nanny, Jiang Yuzhen, but the woman had blocked her path. To verify the details of the accident, Ye Qian and Leng Qiming interview Mrs. Liao.

She stands by the original report, claiming that Li was indeed the driver. Mrs. Liao shows little grief over her husband’s condition, noting that he was already planning to start a new family with his mistress, Song Ying. She explains that it was Liao who insisted the nanny go to care for Song Ying, as the professor's daughter had never lifted a finger to do housework and needed constant attention.

Mrs. Liao mentions that Jiang Yuzhen’s son, Geng Tianchou, had agreed to the arrangement. Later, Dan Qing meets Ye Qian as planned. She feigns drunkenness to lead him into a hotel, putting on a show of intimacy for Bao Hei’s watchers. Once inside, however, she suddenly pulls a gun on him. Unfazed, Ye Qian reveals that he has known her true identity all along.

He admits he was aware that his drinks had been laced with drugs during their first meeting and bluntly informs her that his uncle is Chief Lin, the head of the Narcotics Bureau. He suggests that his status could be an asset to her. While they talk, Bao Hei’s team decides to investigate the truth behind Ye Qian's family connections.

The police continue to dig into Zhao Junxin’s past, learning from her ex-husband that her obsession with seeking justice for their son eventually destroyed their marriage. Meanwhile, Ye Qian seeks out Jiang Yuzhen’s son, Geng Tianchou, at his home. Geng is initially oblivious to his mother’s death and speaks of her with cold indifference, complaining that she spent all her time at the Liao household or caring for the mistress, Song Ying.

He seems more concerned with his phone than his mother’s fate. Even after learning she was killed in a stabbing incident at the hospital, he shows no genuine grief. As the officers leave the premises, they notice a sanitation worker clearing away rodenticide. They take the packaging into evidence and manage to extract several fingerprints from the bags of Poison Bait, providing a crucial new lead in the investigation involving the Sterile Room.
