> Resumos de The Truth
Years ago, Lu Jun was detained by the police after impulsively stabbing a man named Houzi. During his incarceration, Houzi’s gang relentlessly threatened Lu Jun's partner, Wang Mengqing. In a desperate attempt to protect their landlord, Zhao Heizi, Mengqing sought a settlement with Houzi. However, Houzi demanded sexual favors in exchange for peace. Despite her firm refusal, he brutally assaulted her. Upon his release, an enraged Lu Jun murdered Houzi in retaliation.
To pay the court-ordered compensation to Houzi’s family, Mengqing was forced into sex work. Consumed by guilt and desperate to stay by her side, Lu Jun followed her into a downward spiral of drug use, sealing their tragic fate. Their landlord, Zhao Heizi, eventually discovered the couple using drugs and began extorting them.
This malice led to a dire situation where Wang Mengqing suffered an overdose; due to the lack of timely medical intervention during the chaos of the blackmail, she was presumed dead. However, Ye Qian later received a mysterious message suggesting otherwise. He confronted Lu Jun, exposing the fact that the man was lying about the circumstances of his wife's disappearance.
While being interrogated at the station, the woman known as Bai Xue dejectedly claimed that Wang Mengqing had actually died shortly after Lu Jun went to prison. She expressed deep regret over her relationship with Lu Jun, describing how he had kept her under house arrest, claiming it was out of love. This stifling environment led to a heated argument during which she suffered a miscarriage.
Desperate to escape his suffocating and increasingly erratic behavior, she had once hidden a plea for help inside a rent envelope for Zhao Heizi, though he failed to notice it at the time. The truth behind Wang Mengqing's "death" was a calculated ploy. After she injected Lu Jun with drugs, Zhao Heizi—acting on her previous plea—returned and called the police to report the drug use.
Once Lu Jun was hauled away, news reached him that she had died from an overdose. In reality, Wang Mengqing and Zhao Heizi had conspired to fake her death so she could finally escape Lu Jun’s grasp. The investigation took a turn when police discovered that Bai Xue had purchased a pair of men's sneakers a month prior, the prints of which perfectly matched those found at the scene of Zhao Heizi’s murder.
Analyzing the communication records between Bai Xue and Lu Jun over the past month, the authorities realized both were weaving a web of lies. Lu Jun stubbornly insisted that Wang Mengqing was dead and that Bai Xue was a different person, unable to face the reality of her betrayal. He had murdered Zhao Heizi believing he was "saving" her.
Meanwhile, Bai Xue had her own motives for wanting the landlord dead, as Zhao Heizi had frequently sown discord between her and Lu Jun, even convincing Lu Jun that her miscarried child belonged to another man. By claiming Zhao Heizi was abusing her, she manipulated Lu Jun into committing the murder upon his release. In a separate development, a man fell to his death from a building, prompting Si Yuanlong to rush to the scene.
Preliminary analysis suggested the victim had been incapacitated before being pushed. Jiao Lei identified the deceased as Liu Xiaofeng, a young man from a poor background who had previously been involved in a dog-poisoning incident. When Ye Qian and local officers visited the family home, Liu Xiaofeng's mother was unaware of the tragedy, believing her son was simply resting in his room. Investigation into Liu Xiaofeng’s digital trail revealed a mysterious email inviting him to meet on the rooftop.
Following the IP address to an internet cafe, the police found footage of a girl in a red dress who had sent the message. She had been highly cautious, using a fake identity and fleeing the cafe just as the police arrived. That night, the "girl" discarded her disguise, revealing himself to be a young man. He meticulously set a chemical trap in his apartment before leaving. Shortly after his departure, the room exploded, effectively destroying all physical evidence.
Ye Qian later tracked the figure in the red dress through alleyway surveillance. Arriving at the site of the explosion the next day, he spoke with the landlord, who confirmed that the room belonged to the person in the photograph Ye Qian carried.
