Bi Zhi stood firm, clutching the Dushan Jade as a final shield to protect those around him. However, the ruthless Ye Liangyin used Mou Tong’s life as a bargaining chip, demanding the precious heirloom in exchange for the Market Lord’s safety. When Bi Zhi and Mou Tong moved closer to finalize the trade, Mou Tong acted with lightning speed, snatching the jade herself and pulling Bi Zhi away to flee.
Their escape was short-lived, as they were cornered by Ye Liangyin’s hidden subordinates. Seeing Mou Tong wounded by an arrow, a devastated Bi Zhi held her close. Taking advantage of his grief, Ye Liangyin moved in to kill him. Though Bi Zhi possessed protective gear that could have saved him, he had secretly given it to Su Beilu before the confrontation. In another part of the forest, Su Beilu was cornered and stabbed by a group of panicked grave robbers.
Once the criminals fled, Su Beilu sat up and pulled the dagger from his chest; thanks to the protective gear Bi Zhi had provided, his wound healed almost instantly. Nearby, he found Chu Qiu, who was disoriented and suffering from memory loss. Su Beilu explained that although they were from different eras, they shared a common friend in Bi Zhi who was in grave danger. While searching Chu Qiu, Su Beilu discovered a Time Administration alarm device.
He realized that once activated, the Administration would immediately lock onto the coordinates, but the plan required precise timing. Meanwhile, back at the standoff, Bi Zhi urged Mou Tong to hold on, leading her to beg Ye Liangyin for mercy to buy them more time. Earlier in the timeline, Su Beilu had found a young Mou Tong near a cliff. He stopped her from falling and handed her the alarm device, instructing her to hide it within her longevity lock.
He urged her to remember his face and Bi Zhi’s, promising that when they met again, his words would be proven true. He warned her that Fusheng Hall was behind the village tragedies and that she must wait for the right moment to press the button. Back in the heat of the conflict with Ye Liangyin, the adult Mou Tong’s memories suddenly surged. She remembered the device Su Beilu had given her years ago and pressed the hidden button.
The Time Administration arrived instantly, neutralizing Ye Liangyin and the members of Fusheng Hall. Though Bi Zhi remained in a deep coma, Su Beilu’s mission to change their fate had been successful. Su Beilu was taken to the Time Administration for interrogation. He spoke of Bi Zhi’s selfless plan to save lives and exposed the crimes committed by Fusheng Hall.
The officials informed him that while they were repairing the historical damage, returning him to his original era meant his memories of these events would be erased. Su Beilu pleaded for one last chance to see Bi Zhi, unwilling to let their friendship be forgotten. Granted a final meeting, Su Beilu traveled back in the guise of Qin Ziyi to visit Bi Zhi.
They spent the day wandering the streets of Huai City, discussing teahouses and the beauty of the mid-spring blossoms. Su Beilu urged his friend to drink less, make more friends, and appreciate the small wonders of the world. Bi Zhi found his friend’s behavior unusually relaxed and slightly strange, unaware that this was a final farewell.
Before parting, they shared a pinky swear, a gesture that lingered in Bi Zhi’s mind as Su Beilu prepared to return to his own time. Su Beilu eventually woke up in a hospital bed in the year 2023, with Ren Xiaomin fussing over him. He learned he had been in a coma following a bicycle accident. His heart leaped with joy when he received a phone call from his parents, realizing that in this restored timeline, they were still alive.
His friend Chun Ge arrived to check on him, but when Su Beilu desperately asked about Bi Zhi, no one had any recollection of him. It seemed the name had been scrubbed from history. After recovering, Su Beilu returned to his job at the pet hospital. Although his memories were fading, he occasionally felt a haunting sense of loss. One evening, he returned home to find his apartment in a mess.
As he looked at his cat, Tuanzi, whose fur was now black, flashes of Bi Zhi flickered in his mind before slowly dissolving away. Meanwhile, in a different thread of time, Mou Tong waited outside Miao Village for Chu Qiu. While Chu Qiu no longer remembered their past, Mou Tong retained every memory. She took his hand and promised that just as he had once protected her, she would now stay by his side.
A year later, Su Beilu successfully obtained his veterinary license. After a celebration with Ren Xiaomin and Chun Ge, he encountered a stranger on his way home who seemed lost. Though he no longer recognized the man as Bi Zhi, Su Beilu felt an inexplicable pull toward him. The stranger, who identified himself as the owner of a small antique shop called Yashe, asked for directions to Xinyang Road.
Su Beilu offered to lead the way, feeling a strange sense of peace. Before they parted, Su Beilu asked for the man's contact information, instinctively wanting to ensure they wouldn't lose touch again.
