Bi Zhi galloped through the forest, the rhythmic pounding of hooves echoing the urgent pace of his heart. His path was suddenly blocked by a group of masked men in black who emerged like ghosts from the shadows to intercept him. Meanwhile, at the Qin residence, Qin Ziyi stood by a window, watching the falling snow with a heavy heart.
A maid approached with warm clothing, urging him to dress for the worsening blizzard, but Ziyi was consumed by worry for Bi Zhi. On the road, Bi Zhi was caught in a fierce struggle until General Huo Shu arrived to intervene. Insisting on protecting Ziyi’s interests, Huo Shu covered Bi Zhi’s retreat, urging him to return to the city immediately.
Bi Zhi successfully obtained the testimony needed to clear the Qin family's name and rushed back, only to find the residence engulfed in a massive fire. Devastated by the loss of his friend, he retreated to his sanctuary, the Yashe antique shop. By the year 2024, Bi Zhi lived as the owner of Yashe in Ninghai City. Though he dressed in modern fashion, he remained a stranger to the fast-paced world of the twenty-first century.
During a walk through an antique market, he encountered Master Dong, who was regaling a crowd with the legend of King Goujian’s swords. Dong claimed the spirit of the swordsmith Ou Yezi inhabited the blade he held. Bi Zhi interjected, noting that while Ou Yezi forged five famous swords, he also created a sixth, nameless blade that brought only misfortune.
Intrigued by the artifact, Bi Zhi offered a massive sum and a Twin Dragon Zichen Pendant as a gesture of sincerity. Master Dong led him home to finalize the deal, but while handling the sword, Dong accidentally cut his finger. The blood awakened the sword’s murderous aura, sending the merchant into a frenzy. Dong attacked, and though Bi Zhi was wounded, his injury healed instantly.
He quickly knocked Dong unconscious; when the merchant came to, he believed he had simply fainted at the sight of blood. Looking for a connection to the past, Bi Zhi visited a bar that stood where the Qin residence once was. He requested Golden Liquor, a specific sugarcane brew Ziyi had loved. The bartender could only offer a house special called Golden Coast, which failed to match the complex fragrance and sharp finish of the original.
As he drank, Bi Zhi’s mind drifted to Ziyi, his only true friend, and the treasures that had been scattered across time due to his own mistakes. While stumbling home in a drunken stupor, he was assisted by a young man named Su Beilu. Stunned by the man’s identical appearance to Ziyi, Bi Zhi brought him back to Yashe, convinced his friend had returned. In his intoxicated state, Bi Zhi activated the time-travel device on his arm.
Instead of sending Su Beilu home, he inadvertently sent him through several temporal jumps. Su Beilu found himself in a frozen wasteland, a street with a rumbling tram, and finally a military camp where he was accused of being a northern spy and nearly executed. Bi Zhi managed to pull him back through the chaos, but these disruptions caused energy anomalies in the artifacts at Yashe.
Bi Zhi spent the night stabilizing the items to prevent them from altering the destinies of others. The following morning, Bi Zhi secured the newly acquired bronze sword and vowed to recover all of Ziyi's lost possessions. Remembering his erratic behavior, he hurried to the hospital where Su Beilu worked as a veterinarian. Su Beilu was exhausted and complained of leg cramps from a night of "strange dreams" where he was constantly running.
When Bi Zhi addressed him as Ziyi, Su Beilu grew frustrated, insisting he didn't know the man, and had security escort him out. Determined, Bi Zhi returned later with a turtle named Xuan Wu to secure a private consultation. In the examination room, he urged Su Beilu to drop his guard and recognize him, but Su Beilu maintained he was not the man from Bi Zhi's memories. Bi Zhi left his address, hoping Su Beilu would eventually reach out.
That evening, Su Beilu arrived at Yashe to deliver medicine for the turtle. Bi Zhi was overjoyed, thinking the visit meant Su Beilu had remembered their past. However, the veterinarian remained strictly professional, providing a detailed lecture on how to administer the pills. Realizing the man truly had no recollection of their previous life, Bi Zhi went to fetch a feathered cup to serve as a memory trigger. By the time he returned, Su Beilu had already left.
Disheartened, Bi Zhi activated his time-travel device to return to the past, only to be startled by Su Beilu’s voice. To his surprise, Su Beilu had followed him through the temporal gateway.
