"""[Recap]""" Bi Zhi examined the brushstrokes in Gu Zhiqian's artwork and realized that the man had once been a free spirit who lived to roam the mountains and rivers, making his current state of despair even more tragic. While Su Beilu complained about the grueling study sessions, they noticed the light in Gu’s study suddenly go out. Following him into the courtyard, they found Gu talking to himself as if conversing with an invisible partner.

To their astonishment, the painting began to move on its own. Bi Zhi realized that Gu was collaborating across time with Zhao Wanli, their spirits perfectly in sync as they shared the canvas. Gu felt a deep connection with this "mountain apothecary" from another era, admitting that Zhao’s ease of spirit was something he could never achieve. In his own time, Zhao Wanli had waited over half a month for a response.

After a period of illness following a drunken night in a pavilion, he finally found the inspiration to finish the "Autumn Twilight Painting". As he wrote about maintaining a strong spirit despite his white hair, he was magically transported into the dreamlike landscape of the painting. There, he finally met Gu Zhiqian.

While Zhao was awestruck by the scenery, Gu remained despondent, lamenting that his legs could no longer carry him to famous peaks and that he was now trapped in a ruined courtyard. Zhao offered a different perspective, telling Gu that while a youth sees a mountain simply as a mountain, Gu had reached a stage where he could find profound beauty even in a decayed pond. He praised Gu for surpassing the arrogance of his younger self.

Moved to tears by such genuine understanding, Gu confessed his deep regret for chasing fame while neglecting his youth and the woman he loved. When Zhao Wanli woke up back in his own world, he found Zhou'er—the tavern owner—sobbing over him, fearing he had died. Deeply touched by Gu’s regrets, Zhao realized he could not repeat the same mistakes.

He immediately confessed his love to Zhou'er, admitting he had been a fool for prioritizing his own prospects while making her wait for so many years. He promised to treat her well from now on and even pledged to quit drinking. He joked that since he had already finished the "dowry wine" her father had saved, they were clearly destined to be together.

The next morning, Zhao was stunned to find a genuine painting by Gu Zhiqian titled "An Autumn Gift to a Friend" at his stall. The painting featured Zhao’s own likeness, and Gu had inscribed it, calling Zhao his only true lifelong confidant. When Bi Zhi and Su Beilu approached him, Zhao agreed to give them the "Autumn Twilight Painting". Bi Zhi explained that the Liangzhu silk used for the piece was a sentimental item belonging to a friend.

Zhao felt the painting was complete and was happy to keep Gu’s personal gift to him instead. As a gesture of gratitude, Bi Zhi provided Zhou'er with enough money to fully renovate their tavern, encouraging the couple to build a stable life together. Back in the modern era, Su Beilu remained moved by the strange friendship that transcended time.

Bi Zhi reflected on his own journey, noting that this era was the one where he had stayed the longest and grown most attached. He placed the final item belonging to Qin Ziyi in the attic, marking the completion of his atonement and the moment to return to his original time. Meanwhile, in the distant future of 3089, an auctioneer named Ye Liangyin—who bore a striking resemblance to A Ning—prepared to sell a precious Dushan Jade at the Fusheng Hall.

On what he intended to be his final day, Bi Zhi quietly fed his dog, Tuanzi, but could not find the right moment to say goodbye to Su Beilu. Unaware of Bi Zhi's plans, Su Beilu organized a surprise team-bonding trip to Xiasha Island, bringing along Master Dong, Chun Ge, and Ren Xiaomin.

They spent the day at the beach, where Su Beilu taught Bi Zhi how to pitch a tent and encouraged him to feel the sand between his toes. Bi Zhi found himself captivated by the gentle sea breeze and the simple joy of the outing. While exploring, Bi Zhi and Su Beilu visited a street artist for a caricature. The artist mistook them for a couple and gave them a discount along with a bottle of "Love Bubbles." Though he initially called it childish, Bi Zhi spent the afternoon happily blowing bubbles into the wind, cherishing these final, peaceful moments with his friend.
