After many failed attempts to rescue Qin Ziyi, Bi Zhi collapsed from physical and emotional exhaustion. He regained consciousness in the mysterious Tianguang Market, where the Market Lord reprimanded him for his repeated meddling with time. His obsession had warped the timeline, causing innocent people to perish and energy anomalies to scatter Qin Ziyi’s artifacts across different eras. These items acted like stones thrown into a calm pond, creating ripples of change that deviated the fates of countless others.

To atone for his "sins," the Market Lord offered him a chance at redemption: he must travel through time to retrieve these misplaced artifacts and restore history to its original course. Bi Zhi was given a protective robe and began building his "Baibaoge", vowing that his journey would end only when the collection was complete. To show Su Beilu the gravity of altering the past, Bi Zhi took him back to ancient Huai City during mid-spring.

Under the drifting white petals of the locust trees, they found the wreckage of a carriage and the body of Caiwei. Bi Zhi revealed that he had sent Caiwei to deliver a message on the day of the disaster, which led to her being intercepted and killed. As they prepared to bury her, the dying Caiwei mistook Su Beilu for her young master, Qin Ziyi.

Relieved to see him "safe," she apologized for losing the Dushan Jade to thieves before she drew her final breath. Back in the modern world, Bi Zhi coldly ordered Su Beilu to leave the Yashe. Despite Su Beilu’s sincere apologies and his desire to stay and help, Bi Zhi remained harsh, telling him he brought nothing but trouble.

In truth, Bi Zhi was drowning in self-reproach; he felt responsible for dragging Su Beilu into a dangerous vortex and feared his presence would only bring the young man misfortune. Deeply discouraged, Su Beilu spent a restless night before wandering to his old workplace, Chongle Pet Hospital. His mentor, Master Tang, spotted him and took him out for a "top-tier" bowl of Luosifen.

When Su Beilu dejectedly asked if he was truly a failure, Master Tang explained that people's opinions are like different perspectives on a bowl of noodles—subjective and unimportant. He encouraged Su Beilu to stop living for others' expectations and instead work toward becoming the person he wants to be. Su Beilu returned home to pack his things, but the playful Tuanzi kept bringing him Bi Zhi’s belongings, eventually knocking over an antique jar.

While cleaning the fragments, Su Beilu discovered a paper crane. Memories flooded back of the car accident that killed his parents; he realized that the person who had pulled him from the burning wreckage was Bi Zhi. He rushed to Bi Zhi, showing him the crane and declaring himself the luckiest person in the world for finding his savior.

Bi Zhi finally confessed that he had tried to drive Su Beilu away because he didn't want the boy to become like him—burdened by the eternal regret of failing to save his family. Moved, Su Beilu suggested they both let go of their past obsessions and move forward together. The atmosphere at the Yashe dormitory brightened as Su Beilu’s former colleagues, Chun Ge and Xiao Min, arrived for a housewarming party, bringing a new bed for Tuanzi.

Master Dong also joined the gathering, sharing his knowledge of Feng Shui and the intricate firing process of Doucai porcelain. As the group enjoyed a hotpot meal, Master Dong realized his precious Phoenix Eye Bodhi rosary had vanished, only to find Tuanzi happily chewing on the beads. Surrounded by the warmth and laughter of his new friends, Bi Zhi felt a sense of belonging he hadn't known in centuries, as if the spirit of Qin Ziyi was finally at peace.
