In the present day, two criminals named Fang Chao and Liu Zhi attempted a bank robbery that turned into a farce. They exerted all their strength hammering at the bank’s explosion-proof glass, completely failing to notice that a side door was unlocked. By the time they realized their oversight, the door had been locked, forcing them to flee empty-handed. During a police briefing, Deputy Director Gao Dong and Captain Yan Liang reviewed the footage.
While experts speculated the suspects wanted to cause social unrest, a young officer named Li Qian suggested their failure was simply due to extreme nervousness. Surveillance soon tracked the pair—the clever Fang Chao and the dim-witted Liu Zhi—casing multiple locations, proving they were planning a second strike in the city. Restless in his new role, he organized a marathon for retired officers, encouraging them to embark on a "new journey."
