Synopsis
Lu Zheying, a talented painter from a poor family, is bullied by her stepmother and worthless brother. She is to be married off as the ninth concubine to an old merchant in a month's time.
At her wit's end, she decides to fight fate. She disguises herself as a delicate noble lady and sets her sights on the young master of the Lin family, Lin Mo, hoping to use him as a stepping stone to reach her dream—the prestigious Imperial Academy of Painting in the capital.
However, her plan catches the attention of Lin Mo's elder brother, Nangong Yi, the most powerful and noble young man in the capital. He dismisses her as a cunning social climber.
Meanwhile, the real noble lady, a princess, constantly schemes against her. Lu Zheying weaves an intricate plan to win Lin Mo over, but things take an unexpected turn when she accidentally becomes bound to Nangong Yi.
