The series is adapted from the novel ‘亏成首富从游戏开始 / Lui Cheng Shou Fu Chong You Xi Kai Shi’ by Qing Shanqu Zui. It follows Pei Qian, a laid-off corporate drone tasked with running a company designed to lose money. He hires incompetents, overpays staff, and backs absurd projects—only to see every effort accidentally turn a profit. Against all odds, his "failing" venture skyrockets, making him an unlikely business legend.

Pei Qian, an overworked employee at a large corporation who, after being unexpectedly laid off, receives a mysterious offer from an enigmatic tycoon to start a company with the unusual goal of incurring losses. To achieve this, Pei deliberately assembles a motley crew of incompetent employees, goes to great lengths to increase salaries, extend holidays, and provide generous benefits, and invests in a series of bizarre projects. However, to his dismay, each endeavor inadvertently turns profitable. Despite his frustrations, Pei becomes known among his employees as a conscientious boss and is hailed by the industry as a business prodigy. Forced to navigate these unintended successes, he ultimately leads the company against all odds to become the top conglomerate in the region.
