Fang Muyang and Fei Ni continue to enjoy their domestic life, often surprising each other with treats after work. One evening, Fang Muyang brings home boiled meatball soup, while Fei Ni brings a fried pork cutlet. She explains that the meal was a treat from Mr. Yuan, a renowned lianhuanhua artist who visited her office to offer her a paid commission after being impressed by her work.
Fang Muyang is thrilled by her success, while Fei Ni is equally touched by his thoughtfulness. To support Fei Ni’s literary passion, Fang Muyang arranges a secret late-night visit to the Xinhua Bookstore Warehouse. He secured the key from Ms. Liu, the warehouse manager and wife of President Fu. In the dimly lit warehouse, they read restricted "grey cover" and "yellow cover" books, including "The Catcher in the Rye" and "Waiting for Godot."
Encouraged by Teacher Chen’s praise that her writing has matured into that of a professional writer, Fei Ni credits her growth to Fang Muyang’s constant support. Fei Ni’s talents also shine at the textile factory, where she sweeps the blackboard newspaper competition, winning the first, second, and third prizes. Her work even draws praise from inspecting leaders for its vibrant and disciplined style. To celebrate, she prepares a meal of two crabs for Fang Muyang.
During dinner, she confesses that she had nearly given up on her dreams because no one else believed in her. Fang Muyang then surprises her with a deeply personal gift: a collection of her clothing design sketches that he had painstakingly retrieved and taped back together, promising that even if they cannot make the clothes yet, he will continue to draw them for her.
The couple’s secret is exposed when Fei Ni's parents visit and discover their "Marriage Agreement" hidden under the bed. The document reveals the marriage was a sham for housing. A heated confrontation follows; her parents feel betrayed, and her brother, Fei Ting, worries about the social stigma of Fei Ni becoming a divorcee. To save their relationship, Fang Muyang makes a heartfelt confession.
He shows them sketches of Fei Ni he made while recovering from memory loss, explaining that even when he couldn't remember his own name, she was the only image in his mind. Moved, Fei Ni admits to her family that she has truly fallen for him. Though skeptical, her parents decide to observe the couple for a year before allowing any talk of divorce. Meanwhile, Fang Mujing struggles with her long-distance marriage to Qu Hua.
After a frustrating phone call where a nurse informed her Qu Hua was in surgery, she impulsively prepares a divorce agreement. However, her heart softens when Qu Hua sends a large package containing beef and candy, along with a protective note telling her not to share the sweets with male colleagues. Realizing he cares, Mujing knits him a sweater, which Qu Hua treasures and wears constantly. Fei Ting’s dissatisfaction with his idle office job leads to tension with Lin Mei.
Preferring manual labor, he frequently slips away to help in the factory canteen. Lin Mei eventually catches him and is furious, fearing he will lose his professional status. Tensions escalate when Fei Ting begins returning home late smelling of vanishing cream. Suspecting an affair, Lin Mei follows him to a private residence, only to discover that Fei Ting is moonlighting as a chef for wedding banquets to earn extra money for her clothes.
Moved by his dedication, Lin Mei reconciles with him. As the New Year approaches, Fang Muyang visits his sister at the university, finding her much more optimistic. Back at home, the physical distance between Fang Muyang and Fei Ni finally vanishes. One night, Fang Muyang claims his blanket is wet and unusable. Fei Ni invites him to share her quilt, and under the warmth of a single blanket, the two finally become a true husband and wife.
