After Duan Xu departs, Ziji brings medicine to Fengyi. Fengyi expresses his gratitude for her companionship, lamenting that despite her exalted status, she has spent the last decade caring for a sickly mortal like him. He tells her that he has let go of his past youthful defiance and suggests it is time for her to return to where she truly belongs, as he knows his time is limited.

Ziji insists on her course of action, dismisses his request for immortal elixirs, and reminds him that mortals must rely on mortal medicine. Meanwhile, Wang Jin executes an imperial decree to seal the Fifth Prince’s mansion, detaining the Prince on suspicion of involvement in the horse graft scandal. As the Prince remains indifferent, his mother, Consort Yu, panics upon realizing that Duke Pei will no longer shield them.

Song Xingyu, hiding within the Prince, decides they must flee, but they are immediately intercepted by He Simu and Fengyi. Fengyi easily strips Song Xingyu of his magical artifact and uses his power to trap him. Consort Yu is stunned that the sickly Prophet possesses such immense power, unaware that he was originally a member of the Hejia clan, invited by the late Emperor.

Song Xingyu, bound by a pact, cannot reveal his co-conspirator's identity, and when he attempts to hint that the former Sovereign of Spirits did not die of heartbreak, He Simu intervenes, obliterating him. He Simu knows her father’s death was suspicious. Deeply devoted to her mother and herself, he would never have abandoned her to a chaotic Void to die for love. She is certain that someone else was involved in the Sovereign’s Hall.

At court, Wang Jin and Duan Xu expose the corruption behind the horse administration. Marshal Qin is relieved of his command for negligence, and the primary conspirators are ordered to be beheaded. The government finally returns to order, though Fang Xianye must maintain the facade of being Duan Xu and Wang Jin’s rival. Haunted by his upcoming wedding, Duan Xu sits in his room at night.

Sensing He Simu’s presence, he blows out his candle, but she remains unseen, sitting silently by his bed before departing. Half a month later, on the day of the wedding, Fengyi takes He Simu to a vantage point to watch the procession. Duan Xu had previously made a deal with Fengyi to help him transfer his sense of color to He Simu on this day.

As the gift takes effect, He Simu sees the world in vibrant color for the first time, becoming completely captivated by Duan Xu in his wedding robes. During the procession, a masked assassin interrupts the wedding and abducts the bride, Wang Suyi, wounding Duan Xu. Duan Xu publicly declares the culprit to be a North Chong spy seeking revenge.

In reality, this is a meticulously staged plan; Duan Xu knows Suyi and her lover, the fragrance master Xuan, are deeply in love but hindered by their social status. He creates this crisis to allow them to escape together. Fengyi, witnessing the display, lets the couple go.

Back at his mansion, Duan Xu swears to the guests that he will never remarry until he has reclaimed the seventeen provinces and defeated North Chong, a vow that shocks those who fear for the continuation of the Duan lineage. He Simu, watching from afar, is left to ponder the true meaning of the wedding and the depth of his sacrifice.
