Time has passed quickly during their years abroad. Luo Ningzi is on the verge of becoming the orchestra's principal cellist, with Chen Fan staying by her side as an accompanying student. Back in China, Qiao Mengmeng and Zhao Zhenghao have started their careers, while Yi Lan and Tong Xiaole, despite their deep history, chose to part ways to pursue their individual development.
Luo Ningzi’s professional dreams hit a major roadblock when another student was parachuted into the position she had worked so hard for. Frustrated by this stroke of bad luck, she gets into a heated argument with the conductor and ends up drowning her sorrows at a bar. Chen Fan, who has been supporting her for four years, stays with her, even though her constant drinking has left him with little inspiration to write music.
When Yi Lan joins them, the conversation turns to Tong Xiaole. Chen Fan mentions that Xiaole has been working relentlessly, often traveling alone and becoming unreachable for days. He also notes that Xiaole's father is still in rehabilitation, which adds to his burdens. Chen Fan urges Yi Lan to reach out to her childhood friend, believing Xiaole truly needs someone to be there for him.
While at the bar, Yi Lan tries to cheer up Luo Ningzi by dancing, but they accidentally knock over a cello case. Yi Lan takes it to Mark, a senior student who runs a musical instrument store, for repairs. Mark informs her that the cost will be 3,000 euros.
Seeing her struggle with the expense, he offers to fix it for free if she treats him to a meal, but Yi Lan insists on paying the full amount once she earns the money. Having just paid her rent, Yi Lan is completely broke and regrets quitting her part-time jobs. Desperate for funds, she finds a lucrative job posting for a local guide and translator for a three-day photography trip.
To her shock, the client turns out to be Tong Xiaole, who is in town for a three-day shoot. Their reunion is tense; Xiaole is still bitter about their breakup, which he characterizes as her giving him the silent treatment, while Yi Lan believes he was always the busier one. Despite the friction, they strike a deal for her to act as his local guide, being on call 24/7 for a payment of 20,000 yuan.
Xiaole pays 15,000 yuan upfront, jokingly worrying she might take the money and run. At the apartment Yi Lan found, Xiaole notices a unique fireplace and asks if it was chosen specifically for him, but Yi Lan dismisses it as a standard feature of the flat. When Xiaole complains of hunger and worries about being unaccustomed to the local food, Yi Lan prepares toast pizza for him.
He is impressed by her improved cooking skills, noting that the toast isn't even burnt. Later, they go to pick up the cello. Xiaole is visibly jealous of Mark’s familiarity with Yi Lan, especially when he hears about her promise to treat him to dinner. He reminds Yi Lan that she is currently his guide and needs to focus on his work schedule.
During the photoshoot, Xiaole intentionally drags out the time and makes Yi Lan fetch a card holder from his bag. Yi Lan is touched to see he is still using the one she gave him. That evening, Chen Fan invites them to dinner at a bar where Yi Lan used to work. The owner recognizes Xiaole and greets him warmly, surprising Yi Lan. Xiaole orders a full table of Chinese dishes that are hard to find abroad.
When Luo Ningzi arrives, she continues to drink heavily. Xiaole accidentally mentions her struggles at the orchestra, but Chen Fan quickly tries to change the subject. Luo Ningzi admits that life abroad is much tougher than she imagined and expresses a willingness to return home. Tong Xiaole suggests that Chen Fan could form a private orchestra for her back in China, a sentiment Chen Fan secretly shares. After dinner, the group goes for a walk in the pleasant weather.
Chen Fan reveals that he and Luo Ningzi are planning to get married. He then turns the question to Tong Xiaole and Yi Lan, asking if they intend to reconcile after knowing each other for nearly half their lives. Yi Lan avoids a direct answer and instead leads them into a warm greenhouse to escape the cold. As they sit together, the old chemistry between her and Xiaole remains evident, leaving their future as a couple uncertain but hopeful.
