Xin Mei finds herself severely outmatched against Xia Xuanzi’s sons, a group comprising Golden Core and Nascent Soul cultivators. During the brutal fight, she is beaten until she coughs up blood. Seeing her in danger, Lu Qianqiao attempts to intervene but is momentarily ensnared by iron hooks. To protect him, Xin Mei deliberately draws the sons away.
After Lu Qianqiao manages to defeat the man in the wheelchair, he rushes to find her, only to witness a horrific sight: Xia Xuanzi’s sons begin dying one by one. This sudden mass death extends to every son within Qianyan Cave, causing a startled Xia Xuanzi to awaken from his meditation. Lu Qianqiao brings the injured Xin Mei back to the city, healing her by feeding her his own blood.
Meanwhile, Xia Xuanzi returns to find the boxes containing his Gu insects stolen and the life lamps of his sons extinguished, save for the one belonging to his daughter, Sheng. Sheng has already set a trap, ambushing Xia Xuanzi and leading him toward Wushui Cliff.
Knowing she cannot defeat a Void Stage master alone, she collaborates with Jin Lun, intending to cast her father into the insect-filled abyss below—a place so deep that even the most powerful cultivators cannot survive the fall. Sheng reveals her deep-seated hatred, explaining that Xia Xuanzi treated his children as mere stepping stones for his own ascension. Drawing inspiration from the legend of Nezha, she seeks to sever her blood ties through his death.
She had secretly placed a Bonding Curse on him, and at the cliff’s edge, she inflicts wounds upon herself to paralyze him with shared pain. This allows Jin Lun to strike with the Golden Bracelet of Demon Suppression from Tianyin Mountain. Though Xia Xuanzi manages to break the curse by physically removing the insect, Jin Lun hurls him toward the precipice. However, Xia Xuanzi uses a water rope to snare Jin Lun, dragging him down as well.
Sheng catches Jin Lun’s hand, but as Xia Xuanzi clings to him from below, her grip fails, and both men vanish into the depths of Wushui Cliff. Elsewhere, the Wushuang Society prepares for the opening of the Sihe Library. Tai Shiqian gathers the members, distributing Mind-Awakening Pills from Chongling Valley to temporarily sharpen their intellect for the task of memorizing the Unparalleled Secret Records. He warns them not to exceed three pills, as the physical strain would be too great.
Lu Zhanying waits with writing supplies, ready to record their findings upon their return. Using a special scroll provided by Wu Buquan, the group enters the library, fully aware that this mission for the future of the human race may cost them their lives. Nearby, Lu Zhanying suggests sending the young demon girl, Xiao An, away before the inevitable arrival of the immortal sects leads to a violent confrontation.
However, Xiao An refuses to leave, promising to be useful by doing chores. Though Lord Meishan has yet to officially accept her as a disciple, he ultimately allows her to remain under his protection. Meanwhile, at the Tianxiang Restaurant, Lin Muhan wakes from a drunken stupor in the company of a local woman. Terrified, he flees the building, only to be intercepted by disciples from Lingji Mountain who have been searching for him.
Xin Mei finally awakens after being unconscious for five days. Lu Qianqiao explains that Xia Xuanzi’s sons died because someone destroyed their life-binding Gu. This shared trial brings the two closer, and Xin Mei begins addressing him affectionately as Qianqiao rather than "Senior." Upon learning that the painting he gave her was destroyed during the fight, Lu Qianqiao promises to create a new one. By the next morning, a fresh landscape sits on her table. They are currently staying at the home of Lu Qianqiao’s friend, Sha Sanxing, who welcomes them as family.
