Situ Mo ran into Gu Weiyi's arms, but he looked warily at Lin Zhi Cun. Gu Weiyi questioned if Lin Zhi Cun, the man with the special effects makeup for an advertising role, was very close to her, insisting that the question wasn't difficult to answer. Situ Mo, guessing his jealousy, casually admitted they were "not bad" and sometimes had lunch together. Gu Weiyi pressed further, asking if they ate Liuzhou River Snails Rice Noodle.
Situ Mo playfully pinched his cheek, saying she only ate that with him and teasing him for being jealous. Gu Weiyi then caught her hand and kissed her cheek. The two happily walked home hand-in-hand, and Gu Weiyi cooked her favorite Liuzhou River Snails Rice Noodle. As they ate, Situ Mo, having her Liuzhou River Snails Rice Noodle while Gu Weiyi had instant noodles, worried aloud that her mother would scold them for their unhealthy food choices.
Gu Weiyi assured her his mother wouldn't, revealing that his mom often chatted with him about Situ Mo's mother, who would ask about Mah-jong. He explained to her the concepts of logical probability and arrangement combinations. Situ Mo was surprised by this. She urged Gu Weiyi to try her noodle, calling it "stinks but tasty," despite his initial refusal. He eventually gave in and tried a bite.
He then told her to eat more and wondered about the taste of instant noodles in Liuzhou River Snails Rice Noodle soup. Situ Mo insisted the Liuzhou River Snails Rice Noodle was tastier and didn't stink, and he agreed to eat it. Afterward, Situ Mo thanked him for cooking and washing the dishes. Later, sitting on the balcony, Situ Mo noticed Gu Weiyi always drank tea at home.
He explained it was a habit from his father, who raised him and worked in artifact restoration. Gu Weiyi recounted spending afternoons in his father's silent workshop, reading "Tell Me Why?" Situ Mo mentioned his mom once complained that his dad made his temper "odd." Gu Weiyi asked if his temper was truly odd, and Situ Mo, smiling, confirmed it, adding, "but pretty good."
She then asked if he could repair antiques, to which he replied he could do simple repairs, making her regret not asking him to fix her broken mug earlier. Situ Mo also wondered if he could instantly tell the price of an antique. Gu Weiyi said he couldn't, but could identify its approximate dynasty. Excited, Situ Mo suggested they go to a museum during the winter holiday to guess antique dynasties.
This was how Gu Weiyi discovered she planned to go home for the holiday. Disappointed that she wouldn't be with him, he asked how late she would go and how early she would return. Situ Mo promised to go later and return early, even before the New Year firecrackers finished, but he still seemed unhappy about their separation.
At the airport, Gu Weiyi told Situ Mo he was leaving, and as they parted, she called out his name, making heart gestures for him. On the bus, Situ Mo called Gu Weiyi, who was about to board his plane. They exchanged goodbyes, and he asked her to text him upon arrival, before a flight attendant instructed him to turn off his phone. Situ Mo texted him when she got home, but he didn't reply.
Her brother, Si Tu Hao, entered, calling her to dinner. He told her their eldest sister was traveling and wouldn't be home for the New Year, which upset their dad. He also recounted a story about selling their sister's pets, and their dad's failed attempts to buy them back, even at double the price. During dinner, Si Tu Hao asked Situ Mo if she was happy, noting she was constantly on her phone.
Meanwhile, Gu Weiyi texted Situ Mo that he had arrived home and was about to eat with his parents. At Gu Weiyi's family dinner, his mom told him not to eat too many mantis prawns, reminding him of his childhood education about healthy eating. She then mentioned his allergy to mantis prawns, recalling a dinner with "Si Tu."
His father, Mr. Gu, asked who Si Tu was, and his mother revealed she was her friend's daughter and was living with Gu Weiyi. Mr. Gu was furious, calling it a "terrible mess" for a single man and woman to live together, saying it was improper. His mom defended Situ Mo, praising her politeness, understanding, and beauty. Mr. Gu argued that it didn't matter how good she was, as Gu Weiyi wasn't dating her.
At this, Gu Weiyi interjected with a "Yes." His mother keenly asked if he was dating Situ Mo. Gu Weiyi calmly confirmed, "We're already dating," leaving his parents stunned. Later that evening, Situ Mo was outside setting off fireworks and excitedly called Gu Weiyi to share the experience. He confirmed he could hear them and said they were beautiful.
As Gu Weiyi and his father watched fireworks, Gu Weiyi murmured that he wished he could watch them with Situ Mo, and his father smiled contentedly. Half a month later, Situ Mo returned from her hometown. She tried calling Gu Weiyi, but he didn't answer. To her surprise, he suddenly appeared on a skateboard, explaining it was unsafe to answer his phone while skateboarding.
Situ Mo was amazed he had learned to skateboard so quickly, asking how he would carry her luggage. Gu Weiyi confidently asserted he could manage, offering to carry both the skateboard and her luggage. However, as he walked, he noticed other couples holding hands and realized he had no free hand to hold hers. Situ Mo, misunderstanding, thought the luggage was too heavy for him and ended up carrying it herself.
Once inside the apartment, Gu Weiyi immediately took her hand and repeated his earlier line about carrying the luggage while she held his hand, claiming it was more romantic. Situ Mo laughed, asking where he learned such things. Thinking she found it unromantic, Gu Weiyi looked disappointed and turned to leave. Situ Mo quickly called him back, asked for a hug, and told him he was very romantic. Gu Weiyi, delighted, thanked her and confessed, "I miss you very much."
Back at the lab, Zhou Lei was visibly competitive. He complained to Xie Yu Yin, questioning why he should respect her as much as Senior Lu, since she couldn't influence his chances of going to Heidelberg. Gu Weiyi then teased him by suggesting that if he didn't go, then Zhou Lei would get the spot.
When Zhou Lei presented his old lab report to Senior Lu Jian Shi, she stated that his report wasn't as good as Gu Weiyi's and advised him to learn from Gu Weiyi's work. Zhou Lei then approached Prof. Jiang, asking if he was truly inferior to Gu Weiyi. Prof. Jiang, however, cleverly diverted the conversation by showing Xie Yu Yin something on a paper.
Situ Mo's director gave her and Jie Er an assignment due by the weekend, requiring it in CDR format. Situ Mo and Jie Er realized they both used PS and didn't know how to convert the files. Situ Mo offered to figure it out that night. In a discussion with Prof. Jiang, Senior Lu Jian Shi argued that an upcoming exam was unnecessary because Gu Weiyi's abilities far surpassed Zhou Lei's.
Prof. Jiang insisted the exam was crucial for fairness, adding that both Gu Weiyi and Zhou Lei got excited about tests, viewing it as a "benefit." Senior Lu then questioned if a calculation-heavy exam would unfairly favor Zhou Lei, given his math background, but Prof. Jiang responded that she didn't fully understand Gu Weiyi's capabilities. Later, Gu Weiyi went to the lab to retrieve some items and met Xie Yu Yin, who helped him open the door.
She noticed his hand dynamo and asked if he had made it, which he confirmed. She then questioned how he "suddenly fell in love," as he hadn't been dating the last time she visited. Gu Weiyi replied that he had "wanted to be in love for a long time." Zhou Lei interrupted their conversation, accusing Xie Yu Yin of giving Gu Weiyi special help. She dismissed the idea, and they explained they were just talking about Gu Weiyi's girlfriend.
Xie Yu Yin then left, reminding them to lock the door. Zhou Lei complained to Gu Weiyi that everyone cared about his girlfriend but not him, despite his worries about Heidelberg University. He pressed Gu Weiyi about his relationship, asking if they "did math questions" or "did whatever we should do in a relationship," implying things had progressed since they lived together. He then again told Gu Weiyi to lock the door before leaving.
That evening, Situ Mo called Gu Weiyi for dinner, but he revealed he had turned off the main power switch to demonstrate his hand dynamo. He explained the scientific principles behind it: how conductor coils rotating in a magnetic field generate alternating current, and how faster flux changes lead to greater voltage and brightness.
Situ Mo skeptically asked if the dim, flickering light was the brightest it could get, noting it "can't beat the light of my phone" and needed constant cranking. Gu Weiyi, though slightly defensive, asserted he "will improve it." Situ Mo then asked if they could finally eat, and he relented, turning the power back on. Later, Gu Weiyi wondered what Situ Mo was doing in her room all night.
He saw her social media post seeking help from "Designing Experts" on how to convert PS to CDR and fill colors. He replied, "I know." Situ Mo immediately came to him for "Help," explaining her problem. Gu Weiyi confidently stated he could fix it, telling her to wait on his bed. She hesitated, suggesting she wait in her own room, but he challenged her, asking what she was afraid of. She relented and sat on his bed.
Gu Weiyi told her to sleep if she was tired, and he would wake her when he was done. Situ Mo, drifting to sleep, reminded him to call her. After he finished the task, Gu Weiyi softly whispered her name to wake her, but it was clear he didn't truly want to disturb her, wishing to keep her by his side.
