Meanwhile, Gu Weiyi was so lost in thought that he absentmindedly got himself soaked while washing dishes. As Situ Mo was about to leave for work, after making a variety of noises to get his attention, Gu Weiyi finally spoke, but only to tell her she was going to be late, leaving Situ Mo feeling annoyed as she departed. Later, Gu Weiyi met with Prof. Jiang in his office.
Prof. Jiang mentioned how much the kitten had startled him, leading Zhou Lei to jokingly ask if he needed to pay for the kitten's expenses. After satisfying his curiosity, Prof. Jiang revealed the main reason for their meeting: Heidelberg University in Germany had offered two exchange spots. One spot was reserved for Xie Yu Yin, their senior, who had been working on the Quantum Hall effect project since her postgraduate studies.
The other spot would be decided between Zhou Lei and Gu Weiyi. Zhou Lei eagerly suggested a competitive exam to determine the recipient, while Gu Weiyi also felt a strong desire for the opportunity. Prof. Jiang assured them he would consider both exam results and overall performance carefully. Meanwhile, Fu Pei and Wang Shan were having a study date on the grass. Fu Pei, feeling drowsy, stumbled upon Wang Shan's postgraduate admission ticket.
He expressed his own interest in taking the exam, but Wang Shan seriously questioned if he truly knew what he liked or wanted to do. She explained that she didn't want him to feel trapped by her future or to force himself, knowing he was concerned she might overthink things. However, she feared he would eventually grow tired. Fu Pei insisted he wouldn't, but Wang Shan worried about the stability of their relationship because of his lack of clear direction.
Offended by her apparent lack of trust, Fu Pei angrily walked away. At her office, Situ Mo was assigned to assist with an orange juice advertisement shooting. Her colleague, Jie Er, expressed envy and asked Situ Mo to get an autographed photo of the celebrity, Lin Zhi Cun, for her.
Feeling frustrated by Gu Weiyi's lack of follow-up after their confession, Situ Mo confided in Jie Er, wondering if a man who turns cold after confirming a relationship might be a playboy. Unbeknownst to Situ Mo, back in the lab, Zhou Lei called Gu Weiyi out for using his phone, bringing it to everyone's attention.
This led to a discussion about Gu Weiyi's girlfriend, and the senior, Xie Yu Yin, became visibly upset and disappointed upon learning that Gu Weiyi's girlfriend was Situ Mo. Gu Weiyi, however, cherished Situ Mo and ignored Zhou Lei's insistent request to meet her before leaving the lab. After work, Situ Mo was surprised to find Gu Weiyi waiting for her at the bus stop, ready to pick her up.
On the crowded bus, with other couples openly showing affection, the new couple felt a bit awkward. Gu Weiyi had Situ Mo take an available seat. When he closed the window for her, they had a brief moment of closeness, making Situ Mo blush with a mix of happiness and shyness. They returned home in a somewhat clumsy but endearing manner.
Back at home, Gu Weiyi accidentally put on the wrong slippers, which added to the awkwardness before he quickly changed them. He went to his room to call Fu Pei for advice on how to handle their first dinner together as an official couple. However, Fu Pei was still angry from his argument with Wang Shan and, assuming Gu Weiyi was boasting, offered no helpful advice, sarcastically suggesting a "romantic candlelight steak dinner."
Gu Weiyi then told Situ Mo that he had an idea for dinner and they would eat steak at home. When Situ Mo emerged from her shower, the apartment was dark. Thinking there was a power outage, she flicked the light switch, only to find Gu Weiyi attempting to light candles, which he quickly extinguished in embarrassment. He then relit them, arranged in a heart shape on the table.
As they ate their takeout steak, Situ Mo, unromantically, chose to eat with chopsticks, finding the knife and fork inconvenient. After dinner, they settled on the sofa to watch a horror film. While Situ Mo was engrossed in the movie, Gu Weiyi nervously tried to take her hand. Failing initially, he decided to turn off the lights to create a more intimate atmosphere.
However, Situ Mo, scared by the film, immediately grabbed his arm, begging him not to turn off the lights. Seizing the opportunity, Gu Weiyi reversed his hand and finally intertwined his fingers with hers. They shared small, shy smiles. Gu Weiyi then asked if she wanted some beer. Recalling the previous time she got drunk, Situ Mo asked why. Gu Weiyi slowly leaned closer, saying, "Some things don't need alcohol to do."
Just as they were about to kiss, Situ Mo's phone rang. It was Wang Shan, calling to say she had fought with Fu Pei because she hadn't registered him for the postgraduate exam. Situ Mo playfully supported Wang Shan's actions, saying Fu Pei was not worth her sympathy. Wang Shan then pointed out that Situ Mo was scolding her boyfriend. Situ Mo, smiling, retorted that Wang Shan could scold her boyfriend too, subtly announcing her relationship with Gu Weiyi.
Situ Mo then invited Wang Shan to study at her place on Saturday. Wang Shan declined, not wanting to be a third wheel on their new romance, and also admitting she felt awkward around Gu Weiyi. Meanwhile, Gu Weiyi, waiting impatiently for Situ Mo to finish her call, searched online for "how to make your girlfriend hang up quickly."
Seeing Situ Mo shivering in the hallway, he went back to his room, telling her to come inside to finish her call. The next morning, Situ Mo went to the photography studio for work. Gu Weiyi, alone at home, sent her a message asking what she was doing. Just as Situ Mo was about to reply, Lin Zhi Cun arrived at the studio, exhibiting an arrogant and demanding demeanor.
Back at home, a bored Gu Weiyi found amusement in disassembling and reassembling his robot, Circle. In an easter egg scene, Gu Weiyi later activated Circle's voice test. When asked, "Who is Gu Weiyi?" , Circle replied, "My Master." When asked, "Who is Situ Mo?" , Circle responded, "My Lady."
