Worried that Han Shangyan had skipped dinner, Demo prepared two new dishes and brought them to Han Shangyan's room. He accidentally slipped and fell outside the door. Han Shangyan opened the door, seeing Demo on the ground. Demo quickly stood up, downplaying his fall, and enthusiastically explained he cooked for Han Shangyan, who is the "backbone of K&K" and needs to eat. Han Shangyan apologized for their earlier interaction and invited Demo to eat with him.

Demo was thrilled, immediately sitting down and eagerly asking about Han Shangyan's food preferences – whether he liked spicy food, what kind of eggs, or if he preferred alternatives to rice. Han Shangyan, finding Demo's chatter annoying, cut him off but then admitted the food was "edible," which delighted Demo. The next day, Han Shangyan and Wu Bai drove Demo to Hongqiao Airport to pick up Grandpa Han.

Han Shangyan sent Demo inside with a sign, explaining to Wu Bai that he preferred to face Grandpa's scolding in the privacy of the car. Upon Grandpa Han's arrival, he immediately berated Han Shangyan for not personally picking him up and for being an "unworthy" workaholic who didn't take care of Wu Bai, who seemed to have lost weight. Han Shangyan playfully defended himself, claiming credit for Wu Bai's handsomeness, and Wu Bai assured Grandpa they were all well-cared for.

Grandpa then asked Demo why he wasn't home for New Year's. Demo explained his parents' divorce left him with no place to stay, which saddened Grandpa. He instructed Han Shangyan to take good care of Demo. After Demo gave Grandpa a shoulder massage, Grandpa sent Wu Bai ahead to the New Year's Eve dinner venue, while ordering Han Shangyan to take his luggage to his room and then accompany him "somewhere."

At home, Tong Nian was talking to her cousin, Dounan, about Han Shangyan. She recounted how he rejected her, claiming he wanted to focus on his career and wasn't looking for a relationship. Dounan dismissed this as a "lame excuse," asserting that Han Shangyan simply wasn't interested in her and was, in his opinion, "too old" for her anyway. Annoyed, Tong Nian told him to get ready for New Year's Eve dinner.

Dounan grumbled about his older sister, Hu Yuejiao, always causing him trouble. Later, Dounan discovered Tong Nian's dynamic screensaver, which featured Han Shangyan's image and a quote from him: "Little girl, your information is off the mark. Didn't you say that you like me? How come you don't even know I'm single and uninterested in women?" Dounan immediately accused Tong Nian of dating Han Shangyan, to which she frantically denied, insisting it was a character she created.

Dounan, however, believed she was dating him and even speculated it might have started when she went to Guangzhou. Meanwhile, Han Shangyan was driven by Grandpa Han to what he thought was a visit to an old friend. Only upon arrival did he realize it was a blind date. Grandpa Han, noting Han Shangyan's all-black attire, scolded him for not dressing appropriately, to which Han Shangyan retorted he had no idea it was a date.

Grandpa adamantly stated the matchmaking "must be a success." Han Shangyan feigned chest pains to escape, but Grandpa forced him inside. Tong Nian's family, including her mother, aunt, and cousin Hu Yuejiao, warmly greeted Grandpa Han and Han Shangyan. Hu Yuejiao, introduced as the daughter who had prepared tea and fruit, awkwardly shook Han Shangyan's hand. As the families made polite conversation, Tong Nian, still in her pajamas, came rushing downstairs with her cousin Dounan following closely behind.

Her mother immediately scolded her for her inappropriate attire in front of guests and told her to go change. Tong Nian and Han Shangyan's eyes met, leaving Tong Nian stunned and disoriented. She mentally questioned the coincidence of Han Shangyan being in her home. Han Shangyan, seeing her, briefly smiled and asked for the restroom. Tong Nian was quickly sent back upstairs to change.

Meanwhile, Grandpa Han, impressed by Tong Nian's computer science major, suggested she would be a good match for Wu Bai, who also studied computers. He then instructed Han Shangyan to call Wu Bai and tell him not to be late for the dinner. Tong Nian's mother assigned her a "task" to ride in the car with Hu Yuejiao and Han Shangyan to monitor the blind date.

Tong Nian reluctantly agreed, realizing that Han Shangyan's earlier rejection of her was not about not wanting a girlfriend, but specifically about not wanting "her". In the car, Han Shangyan deliberately placed his jacket on the front passenger seat, forcing Hu Yuejiao to sit in the back with Tong Nian and Dounan. Hu Yuejiao was annoyed by his lack of manners and found him arrogant.

During the ride, Hu Yuejiao, who worked in brand management, asked Han Shangyan about his profession. He vaguely replied that he had "no decent work" and asked if "playing on the computer counts." Hu Yuejiao immediately labeled him a "good-for-nothing slacker" who lived off his parents. Tong Nian, however, defended him, explaining that he was a cybersecurity talent who won medals in government-supported competitions, pursuing honor rather than just prize money, and highlighting China's advanced internet technology.

Hu Yuejiao dismissed her explanation, insisting that "no one spends their whole life playing on the computer." Han Shangyan then abruptly pulled the car over and bluntly told Hu Yuejiao he had no interest in her, now or ever, assuming the feeling was mutual. He suggested they "cooperate with our elders and finish this meal." He then turned to Tong Nian, telling her to stop "acting" like she didn't know him, as it was tiring.

When Dounan asked if they knew each other, Tong Nian admitted they had "just met, not long ago." When her family pressed for details, Han Shangyan intervened, stating they met at "your family's internet cafe." Upon arriving at the "South Wu Grand Feast" restaurant, Hu Yuejiao complained to her mother about Han Shangyan's arrogance and lack of a "real job," but her mother urged her to humor the elders.

Outside, Han Shangyan explained to Tong Nian that he had no interest in her cousin or formal relationships, and that her attempts to defend his profession in the car were "helping me in the wrong way" as he didn't need "an outsider" to understand his work. He clarified that he revealed their previous acquaintance because it was a "lie that cannot continue on," especially since Wu Bai, who knew Tong Nian, was about to arrive and "would definitely be honest."

Tong Nian confirmed she understood that they were "not strangers." Inside, Tong Nian's aunt pulled her aside, pressing for details about Han Shangyan's character, asking if he was genuinely "good-for-nothing" or merely pretending. Tong Nian evasively replied that she had only known him for a week and he was "good at the computer," then feigned a phone call to escape further questioning. Shortly after, Wu Bai arrived, and Tong Nian greeted him.

Wu Bai, puzzled by the situation, asked Han Shangyan for an explanation. Han Shangyan then informed Wu Bai that Grandpa Han intended for Wu Bai and Tong Nian to have a blind date. A startled Wu Bai protested that Han Shangyan should be the one on a blind date, but Han Shangyan retorted that he'd already had his and "quickly taken care of" it. Grandpa Han then introduced Tong Nian to Wu Bai, emphasizing their shared computer major.

However, Wu Bai, recognizing Tong Nian, declared she was "my brother's girlfriend," catching everyone off guard. Han Shangyan angrily confronted Wu Bai for his "nonsense," but Wu Bai insisted that all the K&K club members referred to Tong Nian as "Sister-in-Law." Tong Nian's mother demanded an explanation, and Grandpa Han scolded Han Shangyan. Dounan interjected, confirming that Tong Nian "does like him" and "fell in love at first sight," even speculating their relationship started in Guangzhou.

Faced with a room full of elders who now believed he had been deceiving Tong Nian, and wanting to avoid a scene on New Year's Eve, Han Shangyan reluctantly stepped forward. He formally introduced himself to Tong Nian's parents, stating that he and Tong Nian "have been together for only a short period of time" and apologized for not seeking their permission sooner.

Tong Nian's parents, relieved, accepted his apology, and her father urged everyone to put aside any issues and enjoy the holiday. Despite the resolution, Tong Nian still felt a sense of injustice. Han Shangyan immediately pulled Wu Bai outside, furiously scolding him for "just sitting and watching the show" and then blurting out nonsense. Wu Bai retorted that Han Shangyan had ultimately "accepted it," to which Han Shangyan explained he had no choice given Grandpa's age and the holiday season.

Wu Bai playfully accused Grandpa of believing a "big-tailed wolf" like Han Shangyan. Han Shangyan sternly warned him that this was "just this once" and he "won't let it go next time," before Dounan interrupted them, addressing Han Shangyan as "Brother-in-Law" and calling them back to dinner. Back at the dinner table, Grandpa Han extolled the virtues of older men who spoil their wives, praising Han Shangyan's responsibility despite his stern demeanor.

He even noted the proximity of Han Shangyan's (February 14) and Tong Nian's (March 20) birthdays as a favorable sign. Tong Nian's mother tried to hide her discomfort with the age difference by serving her husband. Grandpa Han then strategically reseated Han Shangyan directly next to Tong Nian. Seizing the opportunity, Tong Nian quietly asked Han Shangyan why he had lied.

He explained that it was purely to help Wu Bai, who "has a girl that he likes," to escape the blind date Grandpa had arranged for him. Han Shangyan added that after this evening, they could choose "any reason to break up"—such as him being "not considerate," "not gentle," "not sharing a similar language," or "too old"—and that the "reason for the breakup" was entirely "up to her."

Tong Nian assured him it was "fine" if it was "for helping him." Grandpa then instructed Han Shangyan to "serve your girlfriend some food," leading to an awkward moment where Han Shangyan piled food and drink onto Tong Nian's plate and glass, much to Wu Bai's amusement. Later, Han Shangyan told Wu Bai to pack the leftovers for Demo.

Tong Nian's aunt mistakenly assumed Demo was Han Shangyan's child, prompting Grandpa Han to clarify that he was a young member of Han Shangyan's club, "temporarily staying at our house" since he couldn't go home for New Year's. After dinner, Grandpa Han insisted that Tong Nian ride home in Han Shangyan's car, with Han Shangyan agreeing to follow her parents closely. On the drive, Tong Nian asked Han Shangyan, "When are we breaking up?"

explaining she needed a timeframe to inform her parents. Han Shangyan responded by asking her to decide, and when she hesitated, suggesting that breaking up right after New Year's might be too sudden, he told her she could "decide" the timing and simply "notify me in advance." He then made a surprising promise: "Before we break up, you are still my girlfriend. Whatever you want, just say it.

I will do my best to make it happen," emphasizing, "I'll keep my word." Tong Nian was deeply touched by his words as she said goodbye and went inside. Elsewhere, Tong Nian's mother expressed her lingering concerns to her husband about their daughter's "first love" being with someone "so old." Her husband, however, dismissed her worries as "prejudice," defending Han Shangyan as a "very responsible" man and noting how "happy" Tong Nian seemed. He advised his wife to learn more about Han Shangyan's character before judging.
