> Resumos de Eight Hundred
Chen Hui jolts awake from a terrifying nightmare where he witnesses Gao Songge being burned alive before being brutally murdered himself by Huo Kaiming. As he gasps for air, he finds Gao Songge watching him with deep suspicion. She questions why he was screaming for Huo Kaiming not to kill him and asks what he is hiding.
She notes his visible anxiety whenever the radio mentions the murder case or when the police stop red cars—the same color as Huo’s vehicle. When Chen Hui tries to deflect, Songge threatens to turn herself in to the police, intending to take the fall for all their crimes. Distraught, Chen Hui finally confesses the truth: he manipulated Huo Kaiming into killing Lu Yuan to rid himself of the constant pressure from both men.
Meanwhile, the police investigation into Lu Yuan’s death gains momentum. They discover his pager received a mysterious code, "1111," from an unregistered mobile number. Further digging into the communication records reveals eleven potential downline dealers for the illicit cough syrup. Among them is a man named Ma Heping, who has been in frequent contact with Huang Liang. Chen Hongbing, aware of his long-standing friendship with Huang, insists on handling the matter himself.
That evening, Chen Hongbing invites Huang Liang over for a meal. Huang, unaware of the investigation, arrives in high spirits and talks about his new girlfriend who sells suits at the department store. Hongbing brings out a bottle of rare liquor his father brought back from Yunchuan thirty years ago. As they drink, Hongbing subtly pivots to the topic of Ma Heping.
Terrified, Huang confesses that he has been operating an illegal coal mine and that Ma is merely his cook. Misunderstanding the legal stakes, Huang breaks down in tears, fearing he faces the death penalty. When Hongbing clarifies that he only faces a few years in prison and a fine, Huang’s terror turns to relief, even joking that he thought the expensive liquor was a "farewell drink" before an execution. The following morning, Huang leads the police to the mine.
They find Ma Heping in the kitchen with his young son, Kai. The boy is fiercely protective of his disabled father, standing between him and the officers. To spare the child from witnessing his father’s arrest, Hongbing promises to look after Kai if Ma cooperates.
Ma tells his son a white lie, claiming he is going to Beijing with "Uncle Chen" to finally have his leg treated by a specialist, and asks the boy to stay with Hongbing’s wife in the meantime. During his confession, Ma Heping admits to selling the cough syrup, which he initially sourced through Lu Yuan. However, the actual supplier was a mysterious woman who always wore a mask and had a distinct scar under her left eye.
She enforced strict rules: the syrup had to be disguised in popsicle tubes, empty bottles had to be returned, and nothing could be sold to local students. Hongbing suspects the scar might have been a fake used for disguise. Simultaneously, the police identify the murder victim as Lu Zhengyuan, a man with a criminal record who had recently visited the station to report a lost ID under the alias "Wang Dali."
The investigation points back to the night of the police raid at the skating rink. Liu Na realizes that Lu Yuan’s urine test must have been faked, suggesting the supplier was present during the raid to facilitate a swap. They deduce the "water tank" mentioned in the pager messages referred to the bathroom at Chen Hui’s rink. Suspicion falls heavily on Gao Songge, who had fainted during the inspection.
Realizing his son is now a prime suspect, Chen Hongbing recuses himself from the case, leaving Liu Na to take charge. Chen Hui and Gao Songge are brought in for questioning, but both maintain a stoic denial. While the police search the skating rink, they find a suspicious bag in the warehouse, but it contains nothing incriminating. Chen Hui had already moved the evidence into a hidden compartment inside a stove, which the officers fail to discover during their search.
To break the stalemate, Liu Na organizes a specialized lineup. She has several women dress in identical clothing with fake scars applied to their faces. Ma Heping identifies Gao Songge based on her physical stature, but he becomes confused when she speaks. Her voice is clear, whereas the supplier had a distinct, raspy "smoker’s" voice.
It is later revealed that Gao Songge had been using a throat spray called Diluoshusong to artificially hoarsen her voice during transactions, successfully shielding her identity. After they are released due to a lack of evidence, Chen Hui and Gao Songge are immediately intercepted by Huo Kaiming. Having realized that Lu Yuan was not the person he was truly seeking, Huo kidnaps the couple at knifepoint and forces them to drive toward the outskirts.
When they encounter a police checkpoint, Huo threatens to kill Songge if Chen Hui speaks. Chen Hui, however, remains calm. He reveals that he has meticulously framed Huo Kaiming for Lu Yuan's murder. He explains that the mobile phone used for the deals bears Huo's fingerprints and that the incriminating drugs are hidden at Huo’s house. He warns the older man that since the police are already closing in, killing them now would be pointless, as the law cannot execute a man twice.
