One hundred thousand years ago, the Father God returned to a formless state, and the ancient gods gradually passed away. In the present four seas and eight realms, only the Dragon, Phoenix, and Nine-Tailed White Fox tribes of the Heavenly Tribes have descendants remaining, holding noble statuses. Bai Qian, the youngest daughter of the Fox Emperor Bai Zhi, is a descendant of the Nine-Tailed White Fox tribe.

Known for her mischievous nature, her parents enlisted Zhe Yan, the first Fire Phoenix, to transform her into a male and send her to Kunlun Void. There, she was to apprentice under Mo Yuan, the Father God's direct son, who was renowned for his valor and immense power, earning him the title of God of War. On this particular day, a rare treasure emerged in Kunlun Void.

Disciples eagerly pursued it, but it was High God Mo Yuan who ultimately subdued it. The treasure turned out to be a folding fan. After paying their respects, the disciples congratulated their Teacher on acquiring the magical weapon, noting that no new weapon had emerged from Kunlun Void since the Donghuang Bell. Mo Yuan, sensing the fan's unexpected appearance, had a premonition that he would soon welcome a new disciple. Zhe Yan brought Bai Qian to Kunlun Void.

Curious about her surroundings, Bai Qian questioned why Zhe Yan had turned her into a man. Zhe Yan explained that Kunlun Void does not accept female disciples, and for her to study under a teacher, she must present herself as male.

He renamed her Si Yin, telling her that from then on, she was no longer Bai Qian, the daughter of the Fox Emperor of Green Hills, but a wild fox he had found and brought to Kunlun Void specifically to become Mo Yuan's disciple.

Si Yin worried if her disguise would be seen through, and Zhe Yan playfully remarked that while Mo Yuan's disciples were not skilled enough to discern her true gender, whether Mo Yuan himself could would be a matter of luck. As Si Yin and Zhe Yan approached the main hall, they found another aspiring disciple, Zi Lan, already waiting. Suddenly, the magical fan flew directly to Si Yin, stopping before her. Si Yin, surprised, took hold of the fan.

Mo Yuan and his disciples then arrived. Mo Yuan immediately recognized Si Yin's true female identity but chose not to expose her, noting that the powerful magical weapon had chosen her as its master. Si Yin, seeing Mo Yuan, mentally remarked that she had expected the God of War to have three heads and six arms, not a "more handsome guy than Zhe Yan."

Mo Yuan, realizing the fan's significance and its choice, believed that Si Yin was destined to be his disciple and that the fan must not fall into the hands of an outsider. Si Yin then returned the fan to Mo Yuan, joining the other disciples inside the hall. Inside, Mo Yuan consulted Zhe Yan about who should be the senior disciple between Zi Lan and Si Yin, as they both arrived today.

Si Yin covertly communicated to Zhe Yan, urging him not to make her the junior. However, Zhe Yan mischievously suggested to Mo Yuan that his "wild fox" should be the junior disciple. Si Yin vehemently protested, stating that she was already the youngest at home and refused to be the most junior again, threatening to forgo discipleship if that were the case. Mo Yuan intervened, offering her the fan as a magical weapon, which would make the arrangement fair.

Si Yin accepted, and Mo Yuan named the fan "Kunlun Fan of Yuqing." Zi Lan became the sixteenth disciple, and Si Yin the seventeenth, earning her the nickname "Little Seventeenth" from her senior brothers due to her junior rank. Meanwhile, the Heavenly Monarch convened a meeting with the immortal families.

His First Highness reported Mo Yuan's new disciples, particularly mentioning that Mo Yuan had gifted the awe-inspiring Kunlun Fan of Yuqing to his most junior disciple, Si Yin, described as a wild fox picked up by High God Zhe Yan. The Heavenly Monarch was displeased, expressing anger that Mo Yuan would bestow such a powerful weapon on a mere wild fox. Twenty thousand years passed in a blink of an eye.

Bai Qian, under the guise of Si Yin, remained Mo Yuan's disciple. Her mischievous nature persisted, and one day, she and Zi Lan ventured into the mortal realm to tell fortunes. There, they witnessed a white-clad woman being harassed by ruffians. Si Yin and Zi Lan joked that it was another "hero saves beauty" scenario, expecting a hero in white to appear. True to their prediction, a hero arrived.

To avoid being discovered by their Teacher, Si Yin and Zi Lan quickly fled back to Kunlun Void. Unbeknownst to them, the woman was High Goddess Yao Guang, who had once fought alongside Mo Yuan. Yao Guang followed Si Yin back to Kunlun Void, observing her with clear disdain. Mo Yuan soon discovered Si Yin and Zi Lan's unauthorized trip to the mortal realm. The Eldest Senior Brother pleaded on their behalf, explaining they only went for fun.

Mo Yuan did not scold them but dismissed everyone except Si Yin. He led Si Yin to a back room, revealing that he had brought three jugs of Zhe Yan's personally brewed peach blossom wine from Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms. Si Yin, who loved Zhe Yan's wine, was overjoyed. Mo Yuan then informed her that the wine was a gift to celebrate her birthday the following day, cautioning her against excessive drinking.

Si Yin, holding the wine, expressed her gratitude and playfully remarked that Mo Yuan treated her better than Zhe Yan. Later, as Si Yin walked happily with her wine, she was suddenly knocked unconscious, and the peach blossom wine shattered. Upon waking, she found herself seated before the same white-clad woman from the mortal realm.

Si Yin quickly realized this was High Goddess Yao Guang, whom her senior brothers had mentioned as having loved Mo Yuan for many years, even relocating her immortal manor to Kunlun Void for him. Si Yin immediately suspected Yao Guang was using her as bait to provoke Mo Yuan.

Yao Guang's attendant explained that despite Si Yin's "grave crime" of unauthorized mortal realm visits, Yao Guang was benevolent and offered Si Yin the opportunity to become her disciple, hoping to curb Si Yin's playful nature. Si Yin defiantly refused, asserting her status as Mo Yuan's seventeenth disciple. Yao Guang insulted Si Yin, calling her a "naughty and mischievous disciple."

Si Yin retorted, deeming Yao Guang's pursuit of Mo Yuan disgraceful and stating that a single finger of her Teacher was a thousand times superior to Yao Guang. Enraged, Yao Guang ordered Si Yin to be thrown into the Water Prison for three days, where she would suffer. Yao Guang's attendants explained the Water Prison's cruel nature, where it would fill to the brim every hour, intending to wear Si Yin down.

Si Yin, though defiant, found herself helpless as the water quickly rose. Meanwhile, the Ninth Senior Brother found the shattered wine jugs and alerted the Eldest Senior Brother. They concluded Si Yin must have been abducted in haste. After ruling out the Winged Tribe, they suspected High Goddess Yao Guang due to her familiarity with Kunlun Void. The Eldest Senior Brother reported Si Yin's disappearance to Mo Yuan.

Mo Yuan, accompanied by his disciples, immediately went to Yao Guang's immortal manor. At the Water Prison's entrance, Mo Yuan confronted Yao Guang, demanding to know if his disciple was inside. Yao Guang denied it and challenged his right to trespass in her restricted manor. Mo Yuan, unfazed, used his power to break into the Water Prison, rescuing a weakened Si Yin from the rising waters.

Si Yin, semi-conscious, weakly confirmed her suffering but then expressed her desire to celebrate her birthday with peach blossom wine before fainting in Mo Yuan's arms. Carrying Si Yin out, Mo Yuan declared a duel with Yao Guang at Cangwu Peak in three days to settle the matter. Yao Guang was shocked, lamenting that she had acted only to protect Mo Yuan from gossip for overly spoiling a disciple. Mo Yuan dismissed her concerns, stating he had never feared gossip.

Back at Kunlun Void, Si Yin remained unconscious, repeatedly calling out for "Teacher." Mo Yuan held her hand, gently stroking her and murmuring comforting words, "It's fine now. I will protect you. Don't be afraid. I am here." The Heavenly Monarch's First Highness arrived, sent by his father to mediate the impending duel. He appealed to Mo Yuan, citing the tense relationship with the Winged Tribe and the need for harmony.

Mo Yuan firmly stated that the duel must happen to uphold Kunlun Void's sanctity, as it could not be trespassed upon or its disciples abducted with impunity. However, he reassured the First Highness that this was a private conflict, and should the Heavenly Tribes ever go to war with the Winged Tribe, both Kunlun Void and Yao Guang Manor would unite to fight, demonstrating a greater sense of righteousness.

Three days later, Mo Yuan and Yao Guang dueled at Cangwu Peak. Mo Yuan emerged victorious, his only demand being that Yao Guang relocate her immortal manor from Kunlun Void. Yao Guang questioned if Mo Yuan had no regard for their camaraderie during the great war between gods and demons. Mo Yuan coldly replied that their affection had never been deep, thus there was nothing to consider.

After the duel, Mo Yuan's disciples observed Yao Guang's heartbreak, attributing her misfortune to her interference with Si Yin, whom Mo Yuan doted on. Si Yin woke up to learn of Mo Yuan's duel with Yao Guang on her behalf. She insisted on going to Cangwu Peak to stop him, but the Eldest Senior Brother restrained her, humorously remarking that with her weak cloud-riding skills, Mo Yuan would be back at Kunlun Void before she even reached Cangwu Peak.

He also reminded her of her punishment: copying the Chongxu Sutra 30,000 times in half a month. Just then, the Tenth Senior Brother announced that a woman from Green Hill had arrived to see her. Si Yin went to the main hall and was surprised to find Xuan Nü, the younger sister of her Eldest Brother's wife.

Xuan Nü, unaware of Si Yin's true identity, was struck by Si Yin's resemblance to Bai Qian, marveling that a man could look so similar. Xuan Nü explained that her visit was urgent. Bai Yi, Bai Qian's Second Elder Brother, was expecting a daughter, and all the gods of Green Hill had gone to celebrate the young princess's impending birth. Xuan Nü then handed Si Yin a letter from Bai Zhen, Bai Qian's Fourth Elder Brother.

Reading the letter, Si Yin learned that Xuan Nü's parents were forcing her to marry a blind bear, and she had escaped to hide in her Eldest Sister-in-Law's manor. However, Green Hill was not a safe hiding place, so Bai Zhen had sent her to Kunlun Void, hoping Si Yin could provide refuge for a while.

Bai Zhen also mentioned that he chose Si Yin because Zhe Yan's abode, being home to only two men, was unsuitable for an unmarried lady, and he trusted Si Yin, being a "girl" and knowing Xuan Nü from childhood. He specifically instructed Si Yin not to reveal her true identity as Bai Qian to Xuan Nü. Si Yin was conflicted, internally referring to Xuan Nü as a "hot potato." Si Yin sought Mo Yuan's permission to let Xuan Nü stay.

Mo Yuan agreed to allow Xuan Nü to reside in Kunlun Void for a few days. As Si Yin turned to leave, Mo Yuan reminded her about the 30,000 copies of the Chongxu Sutra she owed as punishment. Si Yin playfully pleaded for a reduction, claiming it would cripple her fox claws. Mo Yuan firmly refused. Si Yin resigned herself to accepting the punishment. Si Yin arranged for Xuan Nü to stay in the room opposite hers.

Xuan Nü then cautiously asked Si Yin if anyone had ever told her that she looked identical to Qian Qian during her time in Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms. Si Yin, feeling awkward, confirmed that people frequently made such comments, adding that Bai Zhen even said they were like twins.

She then tried to deflect, saying Xuan Nü also looked quite like her, and dismissed it as a coincidence, adding that she couldn't compare to the future female monarch of Green Hills. Xuan Nü expressed her pessimism about her situation, fearing that she would eventually be forced to marry the black bear sprite despite hiding. Si Yin offered a hopeful thought, suggesting that after sleeping, things might change by tomorrow. She then excused herself to begin her punishment.

Si Yin went to a pond and bid farewell to a small golden lotus, explaining that her extensive copying punishment meant she wouldn't be able to care for it for a long time. As Si Yin walked away, the golden lotus began to glow.
