Suspecting that Chen Yanyun had already entered the palace to navigate the shifting political tides, she began to formulate a plan to assist the Ye family.
Within the palace, Chen Yanyun observed the suspicious movements of the Firearm Battalion. He realized his mentor, Grand Secretary Fu Hailian, was deliberately allowing Prince Ruichang’s impending rebellion to unfold as a trap to implicate the Marquis of Changxing in treason. As the rebellion erupted, the Marquis of Changxing arrived with his Black Armor Corps to defend the palace, only to be intercepted by the Firearm Battalion and accused of treason by Fu Hailian’s men. Simultaneously, Prince Ruichang launched an attack on the side hall.
Ye Xian fought valiantly, killing the Prince with a concealed weapon but sustaining injuries in the process.
