Si Yuanlong arrived at the Bowang restaurant to join Han Zhao and Ye Qian. Han Zhao, who had opened the establishment specifically to create a space for Ye Qian, tried to be attentive by opening a drink for him. However, Ye Qian remained cold and distant, choosing water over alcohol to stay ready for duty.

Han Zhao openly questioned Si Yuanlong about his attempts to pursue her, even though she knew Ye Qian’s heart still belonged to his long-lost love, Chen Yumo. Si Yuanlong argued that since they were both single, he didn't need Ye Qian's permission to court her, though Han Zhao made it clear she hadn't agreed to anything. Despite Han Zhao’s efforts to impress him, Ye Qian bluntly told her that a relationship between them would never work.

Si Yuanlong teased that Han Zhao simply wasn't Ye Qian’s type, noting that the detective preferred gentle, delicate women with long hair. Their meal was interrupted when Ziwu, a colleague from the same department, arrived at the restaurant for a blind date. Han Zhao recognized Ziwu's date, Mr. Pang, as a frequent customer who brought different women to the restaurant every time. Ziwu was polite but firm, informing Pang she wasn't interested and insisting they split the bill.

When Pang excused himself to the restroom, he brazenly complained to a friend over the phone, unaware that Ye Qian was nearby. He disparaged Ziwu as an aging officer with no financial value, callously remarking that her only worth would be the death compensation his family might receive if she were killed in the line of duty. Disgusted, Ye Qian and Han Zhao ambushed Pang outside the restroom, covered his head, and gave him a well-deserved beating.

Ziwu, hearing the commotion, realized her teammates were defending her honor and couldn't help but smile. Later, Han Zhao confided in Si Yuanlong, admitting she had been captivated by Ye Qian's sense of justice since their school days. Back then, he was a talented athlete and artist, but he had chosen the dangerous path of a criminal investigator solely to search for Chen Yumo. For ten years, he had chased every lead regarding her, refusing to give up.

Despite knowing his heart was occupied, Han Zhao was willing to wait for him. Meanwhile, Si Yuanlong, realizing that his current salary could barely cover such high-end meals, resolved to earn more money to prove his worth. Elsewhere, Ziwu felt a pang of disappointment when her messages to Leng Qiming went temporarily unanswered, though she later showed her gentle side by checking in on Leng's son, Xiaoyu, and offering to help with his homework.

That night, a brutal murder occurred at the Shancheng Community. The killer, wearing gloves, meticulously processed the scene before departing with chilling composure. The next day, Han Zhao hoped to meet Ye Qian, but Si Yuanlong showed up instead and persuaded her to go to the movies. However, the outing was cut short when duty called. Simultaneously, Leng Qiming was in Shanghai, spending a brief, precious day with his son.

Their time was interrupted when Chief Xu summoned the team back for an emergency. The victim was identified as Wang Xiaole, a thirty-three-year-old teacher at a health school, whose body was discovered by her parents after she failed to respond to their messages. At the crime scene, investigators found five bloody footprints from size 43 sneakers and walls covered in vitriolic insults written in the victim's blood.

Ye Qian noted the steady, standard script of the writing, suggesting the killer was well-educated and composed. In the lab, Ziwu’s analysis revealed the killer likely used medical latex gloves, as evidenced by specific talcum powder residues. The victim had suffered seventeen precise wounds, suggesting the killer used a technique similar to a surgeon with a scalpel. Jiao Lei’s review of security footage identified the victim’s ex-husband, Wu Da, entering and exiting the community around the time of the crime.

While forensic evidence showed consensual activity had occurred recently, Wu Da’s presence made him the primary suspect. When the police tracked him down, they found him in a drunken stupor. His home contained various medical textbooks, and although he claimed to have been drinking alone near the community flower beds, his specialized knowledge and injured hands pointed toward a dark connection to the murder.
