> Resúmenes de The Truth
The investigation into the death of the woman using Mai Qianqian's identity reveals she is actually Liu Min, a 47-year-old from Yushan with a history of theft, fraud, and child trafficking. Under her fingernails, forensic teams found the DNA of Liu Jianyuan, another trafficker from Yushan with a record of robbery and assault. The detectives suspect the two criminals had a violent falling out.
Surveillance footage from the Rose Garden Hotel shows Liu Jianyuan entering through the main entrance and visiting Liu Min in Room 601. However, at 2:10 AM the following morning, he was seen leaving the room and avoiding the elevator, opting instead for the unmonitored fire escape stairs to reach the back parking lot. Captain Leng Qiming and his team realize the hotel is near the train station, but Liu Jianyuan likely used a fake identity if he fled by rail.
They decide to track down a motorcycle taxi driver seen in the area. After speaking with a group of drivers, they find one who remembers a passenger with a thick accent getting on at the hotel’s back door early that morning. The driver recalls dropping the man off at the Tech University Staff Community near the north gate. Though he could not remember the exact building, he mentioned the passenger had made a call about Building 11 or 17.
Property management confirms that Building 17 is closer to the north gate. At Building 17, the police find Room 502, where they encounter Li Feng, a former cellmate of Liu Jianyuan. Li Feng had reported the crime, claiming he found his friend murdered after using a spare key to enter the apartment when Liu Jianyuan failed to answer his calls. The scene is a mess, with blood spattered across the walls.
During interrogation, Leng Qiming pressures Li Feng to be honest. Li Feng eventually admits that he provided the lodging because Liu Jianyuan had looked out for him in prison and he wanted to repay the kindness. He also recalls seeing blood on Liu Jianyuan’s sleeve when he first arrived, though the fugitive claimed he had just been in a fight on the road.
Further investigation reveals that Liu Jianyuan died from blunt force trauma caused by a vase found in the room. Jiao Lei reviews the community’s surveillance and confirms that Li Feng left the building shortly after bringing Liu Jianyuan inside, leaving him without a window of time to commit the murder. Ye Qian notes a discrepancy: while Liu Min had ordered takeout containing leek-stuffed pastries, neither she nor Liu Jianyuan had leeks in their stomachs.
This, combined with the lack of brain tissue on Liu Jianyuan’s clothes, suggests a third person entered the hotel room after Liu Jianyuan fled. Ye Qian and Si Yuanlong examine the exterior drainpipes at both crime scenes and discover matching fingerprints. The ridge spacing indicates the suspect is a slender male around 18 years old. The police department receives an anonymous package addressed to the chief containing two cell phones.
On these devices, they find videos of the suspect interrogating both Liu Min and Liu Jianyuan before their deaths. In the footage, the suspect demands information about a newborn baby kidnapped in 2008 from Baijia Village in Qili Town, Renshan County. Liu Min is seen denying knowledge, while the suspect accuses her and Liu Jianyuan of the crime.
The technical department attempts to enhance the images, while some officers wonder if a teenager is being used as a front for someone else’s revenge. Amidst the intense investigation, Leng Qiming’s son, Xiaoyu, arrives in Yunxi. Since Leng is preoccupied with the case, he brings the boy to the station. Xiaoyu demonstrates a high intelligence, easily defeating Si Yuanlong in a Sudoku competition during the lunch break.
He even remarks to Ziwu about her feelings for his father, advising her to think carefully about the relationship. Despite his pride in his father’s reputation as a top police officer, Xiaoyu expresses that Leng Qiming is not a very present parent, noting that he does not want to grow up to be like him. Ye Qian travels to Baijia Village to investigate the 2008 kidnapping mentioned in the video.
Although the village secretary initially denies any such incidents, the police eventually learn the truth. A young man named Ning Haiyang had returned to the village months ago searching for his birth parents, the Bai family. It is revealed that Ning Haiyang was never actually kidnapped; instead, his father, Bai Youfu, had sold him as an infant to pay for a betrothal gift to his wife.
Bai Youfu had recently lied to Ning Haiyang, telling him that traffickers had stolen him to deflect blame from himself and his wife. The police realize that Ning Haiyang’s motive is a calculated revenge against the people he believed kidnapped him. They learn that his biological mother, Xiao Lan, runs a shop in Yunxi. Ye Qian and his colleagues track down her stall in a local mall. Just as they begin to question Xiao Lan, they spot Ning Haiyang.
Realizing the police are there for him, the young man leaps over the back of the shop and flees toward the riverbank. The officers give chase as he disappears into the distance.
