Everyone gathered at the dormitory to host a housewarming for Su Beilu’s return to Yashe. During the warm festivities, an accidental spill dampened Master Dong’s precious "Phoenix Eye" rosary from the Qing Dynasty, causing a brief moment of panic before Su Beilu apologized. Looking at the lively scene, Bi Zhi felt a rare sense of belonging, as if his home had finally been restored. The following morning at the Tianguang Market, the atmosphere was far more tense.
The Market Lord was furious with Bi Zhi for helping Su Beilu hide the unauthorized use of the time device, an act that nearly caused a catastrophe with the Time Administration. To pacify her, Bi Zhi presented a collection of modern cosmetics, including rouge and powders. He explained the uses of various brushes for contouring, highlighting, and eyeshadow.
Softened by the gifts, the Market Lord listened as Bi Zhi revealed that once he collected the final three items belonging to Qin Ziyu, he would finally return to his own era in the future. Life at Yashe soon fell into a new routine. One morning, Bi Zhi was woken by the barking of the dog, Tuanzi, to find that Su Beilu had prepared a breakfast of seafood noodles.
Still groroggy, Bi Zhi accidentally dipped a dog chew stick into his milk, mistaking it for a biscuit, and tried to hide the mistake when he realized he was eating Tuanzi’s food. Over breakfast, Su Beilu surprised Bi Zhi with a brand-new smartphone purchased with money from a part-time job. He demonstrated how to use apps for food delivery, messaging, and movies, telling Bi Zhi that the device would help him become a proper person of the modern era.
Later, Bi Zhi and Su Beilu returned to the Tianguang Market for a game of Guandan with the Market Lord. Using her photographic memory and calculation skills, the Market Lord easily won the match. She then provided the coordinates for the next target: the Kun Blade. However, Bi Zhi complained that the clues were becoming increasingly vague, as the information lacked a specific name and provided only a general time and location.
The mystery was solved when Lu Feng arrived at Yashe, having regained his memories of the Tianguang Market. Haunted by his past and having donated his fortune to live in a small studio, Lu Feng sought a chance to see Xia Zelan again. He revealed that the Kun Blade was her family heirloom, given to him alongside the Wu Blade as a token of love.
Since Lu Feng’s knowledge of the Qianlong era and the Guangling Residence in Lin’an matched the Market Lord’s coordinates, Su Beilu convinced Bi Zhi to let the artist join their journey. Bi Zhi agreed, but strictly warned Lu Feng not to interfere with history or leave any trace of his presence. The trio traveled back to the kitchen of the Guangling Residence during a record-breaking summer heatwave.
In the frantic back kitchen, the Deputy Chef was berating a young maid named Xiao Cui because the pork tripe intended for the Princess’s soup had spoiled in the heat. Xia Zelan, who was heavily pregnant and serving as the Head Chef, intervened to stop the bullying. She decided to change the menu to carp soup since fresh tripe was unavailable. Xia Zelan personally delivered the dish to the Princess, whose sister, Xuan’er, praised the exquisite flavor after tasting it.
The Princess, also pregnant and struggling with the heat, rewarded Xia Zelan with silver and encouraged her to save for her own unborn child. To cope with the temperature, the Princess also drank iced licorice tea. Tragedy struck that night when the Princess suddenly passed away. It was determined that she had been poisoned by the lethal combination of carp and licorice tea.
The Prince of Guangling was consumed by grief and fury, demanding to know why the menu had been changed. In the kitchen, the terrified staff pointed the finger at Xia Zelan to save themselves. Despite her pleas of innocence and the mention of her impending birth, the Prince ordered Xia Zelan to be taken away and beaten to death. Searching for Xia Zelan, Bi Zhi, Su Beilu, and Lu Feng infiltrated the mansion.
They overheard kitchen maids gossiping about the County Princess, who had been eating rash-inducing foods to disfigure herself and avoid a political marriage. When they failed to find Xia Zelan’s name on the duty roster, they used the Wu Blade to sense the Kun Blade's resonance. The weapon led them through the residence toward the edge of a lotus pond.
