Yan Xun takes Chu Qiao back to the Yingge Courtyard, the place where they were once imprisoned. Amidst the ruins, Yan Xun finds a jade pendant left by his grandmother to his mother. He explains that he had intended to give it to her years ago but hesitated. He asks Chu Qiao to forget the past and start over with him, but Chu Qiao, focused on the chaotic state of the world and the distance between them, declines his feelings.

Meanwhile, Cheng Yuan and Helian Ling, who have developed deep feelings for each other, consider a peaceful life in Yunzhou, a bustling trade hub at the border of Da Yong, Yanbei, and Bian Tang. However, while stopping at a noodle shop, they overhear travelers discussing the dire situation: a Bian Tang messenger has been killed, and Yan Xun and Chu Qiao are reportedly trapped in Da Yong.

Realizing that Yanbei is in danger of falling into chaos without its king, Cheng Yuan decides he must return to save Yan Xun. Helian Ling supports his sense of duty and prepares supplies for him, and the two promise to meet again in Yunzhou once the mission is complete. In Da Yong's capital, Zhenhuang, a mysterious cult centered on the Faceless God rises to power. The High Priestess Jia Meng proclaims three prophecies.

The first prophecy targets four "sinful" individuals whose deaths will cleanse the world. Following the executions of the heads of the Muhe and Wei families, as well as the mysterious death of General Meng, Yan Xun and Chu Qiao realize that Zhao Che is using the cult to eliminate political rivals. They identify General Xing Le, who holds half of Da Yong's external military power, as the final target.

Chu Qiao convinces Yan Xun to save Xing Le, arguing that if Zhao Che consolidates power, he will inevitably attack Xi Meng and Yanbei. During the night, Zhuge Yue meets with Mu Shen to discuss the transition of military power. He later encounters Chu Qiao in the city and warns her to leave, claiming his former compassionate self is dead.

However, when Mu Shen’s guards arrive to kill her, Zhuge Yue intervenes under the guise of wanting the credit himself, ultimately allowing Chu Qiao to escape. Subsequently, Yan Xun and Chu Qiao rescue General Xing Le from an assassination attempt and capture the deceptive Mu Shen. In gratitude, Xing Le gives Yan Xun a command token for his loyal troops to help them escape Da Yong.

As the political tension escalates, Jia Meng delivers a second prophecy: a flood will cleanse a "sinful land." This coincides with heavy rains in Xi Meng, giving Zhao Che a divine excuse to invade the region and seize its valuable black gold mines. To protect Xi Meng and prepare for the coming war, Yan Xun decides to return to Yanbei immediately to mobilize his forces.

However, during his retreat, Yan Xun is ambushed by Zhuge Yue and the spies of Qingshan Court. In the heat of battle, Zhuge Yue wounds Yan Xun’s leg with a "Snow Arrow." Cheng Yuan arrives just in time to rescue the injured prince and hide him in a cave. Yan Xun, knowing his injury makes escape difficult, orders Cheng Yuan to take the Black Eagle command token back to Yanbei to assist Chu Qiao.

He promises to officiate a marriage for Cheng Yuan and Helian Ling once the war is won. Instead of leaving, Cheng Yuan knocks Yan Xun unconscious to keep him safe and disguises himself in Yan Xun’s robes to lead the pursuers away. Zhao Che, believing he has cornered the prince, orders his men to fire, and Cheng Yuan falls from a cliff under a hail of arrows.

To prevent further search parties from finding the real Yan Xun, Zhuge Yue falsely reports that Yan Xun has perished. When Yan Xun awakens and finds only blood and Cheng Yuan's sword at the cliffside, he is devastated by the loss of his most loyal brother. A Red Eagle, sent by Cheng Yuan as a final guide, appears to lead him home. Grieving but resolute, Yan Xun begins his journey back to Yanbei, vowing to honor Cheng Yuan’s sacrifice and care for Helian Ling.
