Xin Yu’s soulful singing has turned Chen Hui’s roller rink into a thriving business, temporarily easing Chen Hui’s worries. However, the peace is shattered when Lu Yuan returns. After being scammed and robbed in a "honey trap" (Xian Ren Tiao) at the station, a desperate Lu Yuan demands money and illegal medication from Chen Hui. Meanwhile, Chen Hongbing finds Liu Na unconscious in her room. He urgently calls his wife, Ding Yue, a doctor, to treat her.

While examining Liu Na, Ding Yue is shocked to discover her arms are covered in dense needle marks. After administering an IV, Ding Yue advises the recovering Liu Na to eat some cucumbers, as the medicine can be harsh on an empty stomach. During their talk, Liu Na reveals she is divorced and working the case in Fengyang alone. Back at the roller rink, Lu Yuan attempts to blackmail Gao Songge over their illegal dealings.

Pushed to her limit, Gao Songge pulls out a knife, but Chen Hui intervenes just in time. Before leaving, Lu Yuan issues a final warning: he wants 50,000 yuan and five bottles of medication by the next day, or he will ruin them. That night, Chen Hongbing discusses the case with Liu Na. He is puzzled why a wealthy woman like Yu Susu would marry a poor miner like Zhu Qiang, who has now gone mad.

Ding Yue provides a professional insight: while cough syrup is generally harmless on its own, taking it with specific stomach medications can severely affect one’s mental state. This leads the investigators to suspect that Yu Susu intentionally induced Zhu Qiang’s mental breakdown. Distraught by Lu Yuan’s threats, Chen Hui begins to contemplate murder. Although Gao Songge suggests paying the blackmail to maintain peace, she grows terrified the next morning when she finds Chen Hui manically painting the shop.

Fearing he is preparing to "clean up" a crime scene, she abandons her scheduled dialysis and rushes back to the rink. Lu Yuan arrives to collect the money, but the situation turns tense when Chen Hongbing and Liu Na suddenly show up to retrieve an old iron box belonging to Gao Ying. Chen Hui hides Lu Yuan in a dark warehouse and desperately tries to keep his father from entering, leading Chen Hongbing to accidentally step in wet paint.

Though Chen Hui intended to kill Lu Yuan in the warehouse, the observant Lu Yuan senses the danger and flees through a side door. Lu Yuan runs to the police station to report Chen Hui, but he stops cold after seeing a drug addict being arrested and threatened with three years in prison. Remembering his own past drug test, Lu Yuan fears he will be arrested too. When the police question him, he awkwardly claims he simply lost his ID.

Chen Hui, who followed him there, covers his tracks by telling his father he only came to discuss buying a birthday gift for his mother. Outside the station, Lu Yuan corners Chen Hui in an alley and brutally beats him in retaliation for the attempted ambush. He increases his demand to 100,000 yuan, threatening to expose Chen Hui’s drug-selling identity and destroy the Chen family’s reputation if he isn't paid.

The investigation into Yu Susu takes a new turn when tests confirm stomach medication in Zhu Qiang’s blood. Chen Hongbing consults Yang Baichun, who explains the dark tradition of "Jia Si" (Marrying to Die). In the unregulated "black mines," some women marry solitary miners specifically to claim large compensation payouts after "accidental" deaths. Yang recalls a woman who allegedly married and lost six husbands this way.

Realizing Yu Susu was likely one of these predators, the police focus their theory on her motives. Meanwhile, late at night, Chen Hui meets with the vengeful Huo Kaiming. Seeing an opportunity to eliminate his problem, Chen Hui manipulates Huo by suggesting that Lu Yuan might know the whereabouts of Jiao Yuqin, hoping to use the killer to get rid of his blackmailer.
