When Chen Hongbing stepped out to head to work, Chen Hui briefly checked on his mother’s well-being.
He urged Ding Yue not to argue with his father on his account before quietly slipping away. Meanwhile, Huang Liang was released from prison on medical parole after being diagnosed with COPD. Although Hongbing was dismissive at first, Ding Yue mediated the situation, and the family eventually shared a meal of braised lamb that Songge had prepared. In the shadows, a bearded and haggard Huo Kaiming was making his way back from Gansu, hitching rides and walking long distances. Meanwhile, a recovering Huang Liang warned Chen Hongbing that Huo Kaiming had returned and was planning to take down everyone who had ever crossed him. Terrified for his son's safety, Hongbing called Chen Hui, who was checking into a motel. Hongbing warned him about the danger and told him to wait for help, but Chen Hui was already taking matters into his own hands. Determined to save Songge, Chen Hui called Yang Baichun and tricked him into a meeting at Zhangtou Village for 6:00 PM that evening.
