Meanwhile, Zhou Xun missed an important client, Ma Dongsheng, due to taking a wrong turn, leaving him remorseful.
He drank alone in his office, unresponsive to comfort from Su Hang. At the same time, a drunken Jiang Xiaoguo repeatedly called Zhou Xun, crying and wanting to ask why he didn't like her. However, Zhou Xun, also intoxicated, was asleep and didn't answer any calls, leaving Duan Zhenyu, who was helping her back to school, feeling a pang of sadness seeing her singular focus on Zhou Xun. Despite acknowledging BuyBox's more mature technology, Ma Dongsheng ultimately rejected Zhou Xun's proposal, explaining he preferred to invest in Yixian due to its more formidable backer, Xunda, which promised a stronger strategic partnership. Zhou Xun was utterly dejected by this failure and took annual leave to return to his hometown. News of Zhou Xun's failure with Ma Dongsheng caused panic at Pruling Capital.
Jiang Xiaoguo, hearing that Zhou Xun had taken annual leave and returned to his hometown, became very worried. She requested a day off from Director Ding to go and find him. Upon returning to her dorm, Duan Jiabao received a lunchbox of lion's head meatballs from a classmate, delivered by a male downstairs. Duan Jiabao correctly guessed it was from Xiong Zhi. The classmate mentioned Xiong Zhi had left with a suitcase immediately after delivery.
Realizing Xiong Zhi was leaving, Duan Jiabao rushed to the train station. Zhao Youxiu then suggested that if Liang Shuang wouldn't, Duan Jiabao could step in. Duan Jiabao, who secretly harbored feelings for Zhao Youxiu, felt a spark of happiness at the suggestion but ultimately refused. Jiang Xiaoguo eventually found Zhou Xun at his family's guesthouse, where she claimed to be a tourist. Zhou Xun initially tried to turn her away, stating the guesthouse was fully booked.
However, his father intervened, insisting that Zhou Xun share his own room so Jiang Xiaoguo could stay in Zhou Xun's room. Jiang Xiaoguo found everything in Zhou Xun's room novel and exciting, and happily danced.
