Li Peiyi confronts Wang Anping, the man posing as the "White Asura." While Wang denies physically committing the murders, he cannot escape the charge of practicing forbidden witchcraft within the palace, leading Li Peiyi to have him imprisoned. Meanwhile, Fuqu, disguised as the deity, approaches the blind Talent Dong with a jar of poisonous rouge, claiming it can restore her sight.

However, Talent Dong refuses, explaining that she only trusts Doctor Luo and previously chose to remain blind rather than allow a young girl to die for her sake. Xiao Huaijin arrives and clarifies that Talent Dong was never truly under a spell; her mind was simply simple and desperate enough to believe the illusions presented to her. Seeing her plan fail, Fuqu flees to a high balcony to jump, only to find Li Peiyi already waiting for her.

Li Peiyi reveals her deduction: Fuqu has been orchestrating these events to avenge her sister, Gonglian. Fuqu stops hiding the truth, recounting how Gonglian’s death was not a simple suicide. Initially, Gonglian and Wang Anping created a mutual aid network to help palace maids with necessities like medicine and charcoal. However, as the worship of the White Asura turned into a fanatical cult, it began to breed greed.

Wang Anping used the deity to extort money, and followers began making malicious requests to harm their rivals. Horrified, the righteous Gonglian demanded an end to the witchcraft and threatened to expose Wang. Refusing to give up his wealth and influence, Wang manipulated the believers into putting relentless psychological pressure on Gonglian, convincing them that her death was required to "summon" the deity.

Trapped in a nightmare of harassment and fear, Gonglian eventually felt she had no choice but to jump. For two years, Fuqu carefully planned her revenge. She infiltrated Wang Anping's inner circle by pretending to be a fanatic, using the cult's resources to target those who drove her sister to suicide. She manipulated Pan Yongqi through his family, ruined Dianjiang’s hands, and led Doctor Luo Zhian to his downfall by involving him in the illegal treatment of Talent Dong.

Li Peiyi explains she realized Fuqu was the mastermind because Fuqu showed no true reverence for the White Asura’s sacred feather, treating it as a mere prop rather than a holy relic. Li Peiyi prevents Fuqu from jumping, telling her that her life is essential to testify against Wang Anping and ensure he is held accountable for Gonglian’s death.

Fuqu, dressed in white like a "Snow Lady" bird, expresses a weary hope that in her next life, she can be as free as a bird. Following the case, a sense of profound loneliness washes over Li Peiyi, and she deeply misses her late mentor, Du Zhixing. She remembers how Du Zhixing raised her in the Palace Investigation Bureau with both strictness and fatherly love.

In a half-dreaming state, she sees a vision of him sitting beside her, encouraging her to keep moving forward despite the darkness. He tells her that if she ever feels lost, she should look at the brightest star in the sky, which represents the watchful gaze of her parents and himself. Feeling safe, she falls asleep with her head on his lap. When she wakes up, she is embarrassed to realize she was actually sleeping on Xiao Huaijin’s lap.

To comfort her, Xiao Huaijin shares the reason he joined the Astronomical Bureau. He recalls a lunar eclipse from their childhood; while others hid from the "bad omen," he had snuck out to watch the moon and fell into a mud pit. A young Li Peiyi had found him and used a clever technique taught by her father to rescue him.

During that first meeting, she had asked him about the meaning of the omen where "Mars lingers in the Heart Mansion." He admits he spent fifteen years in the Bureau to find that answer for her. He eventually discovered that the omen had been used as a political tool to foreshadow the downfall of her father, the Prince of Duan. Xiao vows that from now on, she will never have to face the search for the truth about her family's massacre alone.
