At a wonton stall, the four friends share their heartfelt wishes. Gao Haiming keeps his wish simple, hoping for professional success and a swift conclusion to his current path. When Zhu Mengmeng playfully asks what he wants to finish, he replies that he is waiting for a certain "arrangement of destiny" to complete itself.

During a game of cards, Haiming draws a spade and tries to drink his way out of making a specific wish, but the others insist he follow the rules. Mengmeng suggests he wish for a girlfriend, but Haiming hints that he might already have someone in mind, refusing to provide further details. Hu Tiehan wishes to be braver in both his career and his romantic life, looking pointedly at Mengmeng.

Mengmeng, touched by the moment, reflects on the incredibly slim probability of any two people meeting on this planet—only 0. 000478—concluding that their friendship is a beautiful act of fate. As they pass a Karaoke bar, Lin Huan'er reminds Mengmeng of her high school dream to become a singer. Despite her initial hesitation, Mengmeng takes the stage to perform "Liked You for So Long."

Her performance catches the eye of a music producer in the audience, who approaches Tiehan and hands him a business card, noting Mengmeng’s potential. Huan'er is thrilled, recognizing this as the definitive turning point in Mengmeng’s career, and she urges Tiehan to ensure Mengmeng receives it. Later, when Tiehan presents the card, Mengmeng worries it might be a scam, but she is reassured knowing that Huan'er believes the opportunity is legitimate. Later that evening, Huan'er drives Haiming home.

She thanks him for his help in neutralizing the trouble caused by Ou Xiaojue, but Haiming admits he had his own motives; by resolving her concerns, he felt he could finally focus entirely on his own goals. Huan'er notices her system pager indicates that Haiming’s fondness level has risen to sixty-six percent, which brings a smile to her face. Meanwhile, Mengmeng and Tiehan revisit their old school campus.

They reflect on how much has changed, particularly the relationship between Huan'er and Ou Xiaojue. Mengmeng expresses guilt over a misunderstanding from their college days when she ignored Tiehan for months, not realizing he had been overwhelmed by his father’s sudden hospitalization. Tiehan comforts her, assuring her it wasn't her fault, and quietly notes that while the world changes, his feelings remain steadfast. The following day, Haiming and Huan'er walk toward the office.

Haiming intentionally parks far away to enjoy a walk, explaining that it helps clear his mind. They encounter a seesaw in a park and decide to play. Despite the weight difference, they find a momentary balance until Huan'er accidentally slides down the board right into Haiming. They lock eyes in a moment of shared awkwardness before Haiming invites her to join him on a business trip to Lvcheng.

Afterward, Haiming visits Huan'er's home, where her father, Lin Guozheng, welcomes him with overwhelming hospitality, piling sweet and sour ribs and fish onto Haiming's plate. The group plays mahjong, and Haiming secretly "feeds" tiles to the family to let them win, prioritizing their happiness over the game. He confesses to Huan'er that sharing a happy meal with a family is a luxury he rarely experiences.

As Huan'er’s fondness level with Haiming reaches sixty-eight percent, she stays up late planning their upcoming trip, hoping she is close to returning home. Her sister, Lin Le'er, teases her about her "strategy" to win Haiming over. During their conversation, Le'er reveals that Ou Xiaojue recently tried to use her to set up a meeting with Huan'er at a park. Sensing something was wrong, Le'er fled. Huan'er warns her sister to stay vigilant and avoid him.

Le'er, in turn, encourages Huan'er to hold onto Haiming, praising him as a truly good man. The business trip to Lvcheng proceeds smoothly as they finalize the inclusion of Letao’s feminine hygiene products into the local market. Having finished their work forty-eight hours early, Haiming suggests they enjoy the city. They visit a flower shop where the owner offers a special gift for couples who plant flowers together. Haiming goes along with the ruse, claiming they are a couple.

While Huan'er suggests roses, Haiming chooses sunflowers, noting that he finds their flower symbolism more interesting. Later, they head to a traditional academy, but they arrive just after it has closed. Huan'er is frustrated by her lack of preparation, but Haiming remains calm, finding beauty in the trees outside. He philosophizes that no two leaves are identical and that even the trees people overlook are full of life.

He encourages Huan'er to slow down, suggesting that "wasting time" can be its own form of joy. Following this advice, they go fishing at Peacock Lake. Haiming admits he is afraid of water, finding the unknown depths somewhat terrifying. Huan'er catches a tiny fish but refuses to release it immediately, joking that it might "spill the beans" to the larger fish and cause them to go home empty-handed. As the afternoon fades, Huan'er begins to doze off, and Haiming gently lets her rest her head on his shoulder, keeping her close as they wait for a catch.
