Having been captured by Li Jingcheng and taken to a dimly lit lab, Yang Shanshan was experiencing the profound fear that Lu Sen himself had once endured. Sensing her peril, Lu Sen immediately confronted Li Jingcheng, certain of his involvement. Li Jingcheng, triumphant, demanded that Lu Sen relinquish his position as CEO of IMU and take the blame for the recent data leak.
He referenced Lu Sen’s father, reminding Lu Sen how he had taken care of him after his parents died, and pressed him to hand over the dashcam footage. Lu Sen sternly warned Li Jingcheng against harming Shanshan, vowing to make him suffer if he did. Li Jingcheng scoffed, asserting Lu Sen's defeat was inevitable, as Shanshan was his "antidote" and a mere flick of his finger could make Lu Sen subservient. He then deliberately touched Lu Sen's shoulder.
Moments later, back in his car, Lu Sen experienced a severe allergic reaction from Li Jingcheng's touch. He quickly administered medication, his thoughts consumed by Shanshan, promising to find and free her. Meanwhile, Kang Li'er frantically informed Li Zhan that Shanshan was missing, accusing his father of kidnapping. Li Zhan initially dismissed her concerns and drove off, but upon returning home, he confronted Li Jingcheng, urging him to release Shanshan and warning him about the criminal implications of kidnapping.
Li Jingcheng, already aware that Li Zhan had secretly given the dashcam footage to Lu Sen, angrily slapped his son. He vehemently told Li Zhan that if Lu Sen released the video, the Li family would be irrevocably ruined. Li Jingcheng then attempted to manipulate Li Zhan emotionally, asking if he truly wanted to help outsiders punish his own father. Distraught, Li Zhan wrestled with his conscience.
After Li Jingcheng left, he ordered his subordinates to keep a close watch on Li Zhan to prevent him from interfering further. Following his predetermined plan, Lu Sen drove to the company, where a throng of eager reporters swarmed his car, making him visibly uncomfortable. Once inside, he met with Li Jingcheng and conceded to all his demands, provided Shanshan was released unharmed. Li Jingcheng stated that Lu Sen would need to demonstrate his sincerity first.
At the press conference, Lu Sen began by revealing the reason behind his long absence from public life. He disclosed that since his parents' death in a car accident when he was twelve, he had suffered from Haphephobia, a condition that caused severe allergic reactions and potential suffocation upon human contact. To substantiate his claim, he played a video showing his allergic symptoms and explained how he had to be fully covered whenever public appearances were unavoidable.
The revelation stunned the audience, drawing a flurry of questions from reporters about the disease's contagiousness, its symptoms, and the need for a new CEO for IMU. Lu Sen, appearing angry and helpless, announced his resignation as IMU's CEO and his personal responsibility for the data leak compensation. To Li Jingcheng's surprise, Lu Sen then named Li Zhan as the new chairman. Li Jingcheng later accused Lu Sen of daring to act independently, threatening Shanshan's life.
Lu Sen calmly countered that since Li Zhan was Li Jingcheng's son, giving him the position was effectively the same as giving it to Li Jingcheng. He reiterated that he would provide whatever Li Jingcheng desired once Shanshan was safely returned. Li Jingcheng, dismissing Lu Sen's negotiating tactics, ordered his men to blindfold Lu Sen and confiscate his phone. He reminded them of Lu Sen's Haphephobia, instructing them to grab him if he tried any tricks.
Meanwhile, Fu Yang and Kang Li'er tracked down Tom, who was attempting to flee with a large sum of money. Fu Yang confronted Tom, accusing him of killing Friday and framing him. When Tom tried to bribe him, Fu Yang refused, insisting they would settle matters in court. Tom tried to escape, but Fu Yang gave chase. During their struggle, Tom used a taser on Kang Li'er and then knocked Fu Yang unconscious.
Despite her injury, Kang Li'er managed to strike Tom, knocking him out. Li Jingcheng led the blindfolded Lu Sen to the studio where Shanshan was imprisoned. To his surprise, Li Jingcheng noticed Lu Sen showed no allergic reaction when his men touched him earlier. Ignoring this anomaly, he focused on securing the shares. Shanshan lay unconscious, having been sedated. Lu Sen quickly signed the shares transfer agreement and then went to revive her.
As Shanshan slowly regained consciousness, Lu Sen explained that the shares, which had "boxed him in for over 20 years," were a small price to pay for her freedom. Just as Lu Sen and Shanshan were about to leave, Li Jingcheng received news of Tom's capture. He immediately realized Lu Sen's clever ploy: by capturing Tom, Lu Sen intended for him to confess, thus nullifying the signed shares transfer agreement.
Enraged that his victory was slipping away, Li Jingcheng ordered his men to intercept them. Lu Sen fought valiantly, but outnumbered, he was vulnerable. Seeing an attack imminent, Shanshan instinctively shielded him, taking the blow and collapsing unconscious once more. As Lu Sen tried to drag Shanshan outside, Li Zhan burst in.
He had coerced a subordinate into revealing the factory's location, and now, armed, he threatened Li Jingcheng, demanding he cease his actions or face dire consequences, even threatening to take his own life to stop his father. Li Zhan tossed his car keys to Lu Sen, urging him to take Shanshan and flee. Lu Sen quickly put Shanshan into the car and rushed her to the hospital, gravely concerned about her injury.
