After gaining a small portion of divine power, the humans became increasingly emboldened and desperate to gather all eight sacred pearls. They launched a sudden assault on the Qiongqi Clan, believing them to be a weak target. However, they fell into a trap and were forced to retreat in a humiliating state. Xiao Yao and her companions examined the discarded weapons left behind.

Xiao Yao noted that the blades were ordinary but mixed with items previously stolen from the Shanxiao and Leimeng tribes, making it difficult to identify the attackers. Qiongqi immediately cast a suspicious glance at Ao Hen, but Xiao Yao defended him, explaining that Ao Hen had been drinking with her and Tengshe during the attack. Tengshe added that with Ao Hen’s prideful temperament, he would never resort to wearing a mask for such underhanded tactics.

To ensure mutual safety, Xiao Yao gave Ao Hen, Qiongqi, and Tengshe each a Dragon Bell. These bells were designed to resonate with one another regardless of distance, allowing the group to coordinate a rescue if anyone encountered an enemy. Meanwhile, Hong Ye sought out Xiao Yao to discuss cooperation with the demon tribes, accompanied by Long Yu.

Hong Ye playfully referred to Long Yu as his savior, while Long Yu expressed his sincere hope that Hong Ye and Xiao Yao’s union would be a success. Observing that the humans no longer seemed to fear her or Long Yu, Xiao Yao felt a sense of peace. Hong Ye then took her to see her wedding attire, and Xiao Yao looked forward to their big day with great anticipation.

While Xiao Yao was trying on her dress, Hong Ye bribed Long Yu for information regarding the demon race’s plans. Though Hong Ye was troubled to learn that the State Preceptor had tampered with Xiao Yao’s wedding gown, he realized there was no turning back. Under the State Preceptor's manipulation, Hong Ye made a fateful choice. Using the enchanted wedding dress—which allowed the wearer to morph into Xiao Yao’s likeness—he disguised himself as Xiao Yao and visited the demon lords.

Qiongqi failed to notice the deception. The impostor invited him to the wedding and specifically requested that he bring the Hunyuan Pearl to offer blessings. Similarly, Tengshe, who had been drinking while spying on Xiao Yao, was startled when the disguised Hong Ye appeared before him. The impostor invited Tengshe to bring the Wucheng Pearl to the human realm and asked him to relay an invitation to Ao Hen to bring the Qiankun Pearl.

Hong Ye reported his progress to the State Preceptor but strictly warned him not to harm Xiao Yao, despite the Preceptor's obvious designs on the Dragon Clan. Later, Hong Ye approached Long Yu, expressing a desire to see the Longyuan Pearl to create a matching crown jewel for Xiao Yao’s empress crown. Unable to refuse the request, Long Yu secretly led Hong Ye to the Treasure House, where Hong Ye managed to swap the pearl.

Xiao Yao sensed a disturbance and rushed to investigate, but she found the Longyuan Pearl seemingly intact. Around the same time, Ao Hen, Qiongqi, and Tengshe gathered together. Xiao Yao reiterated her invitation for them to attend the wedding, and though Qiongqi remained bitter, he agreed to come. On the wedding day, Long Yu accompanied Hong Ye, unaware of the complex emotions the Emperor felt while clutching the stolen pearl.

At the human wedding site, Tengshe and Ao Hen bickered as usual, while Qiongqi looked around at the simple decorations, feeling that Xiao Yao was being treated poorly. The three demon lords made a pact that after a hundred years—the lifespan of a human—they would once again compete for Xiao Yao’s hand. While the three demon lords were greeted by a fake Xiao Yao at the human ceremony, the real Xiao Yao was at a sacred site with Long Zhi.

Having cultivated for a thousand years, Long Zhi was finally ready to face her tribulation to become a Winged Dragon. Xiao Yao had prepared a set of golden armor for her to ease the pain of the lightning strikes and prayed for her success. However, back at the wedding, the three demon lords suddenly found themselves bound by a powerful formation. They realized too late that they had been lured into a trap.

With all eight pearls finally gathered, the State Preceptor recited an incantation to call upon the celestial mountain to reveal the Yuli Spring. This ritual triggered a massive celestial disturbance. At that exact moment, Long Zhi was in the midst of her tribulation. Struck by a stray bolt of divine lightning caused by the ritual, she was mortally wounded.

As she lay dying, Long Zhi made a shocking confession: she had once disguised herself as Ao Hen to slaughter human tribes and kill Hong Ye’s father. She had done this to drive a wedge between Xiao Yao and Hong Ye, fearing that Xiao Yao’s devotion to a human would distract her from her duties. Xiao Yao was devastated to learn the true origin of Hong Ye’s hatred and the tragic misunderstanding that had driven his actions.

Long Zhi warned Xiao Yao that the most difficult trial to pass was the tribulation of love, and she predicted that the dragons would eventually revolt if Xiao Yao remained obsessed with Hong Ye. With those final words, Long Zhi vanished, leaving Xiao Yao in deep sorrow as her companion of a thousand years slipped away.
