After revealing his true form as the guardian beast Tasha to save the villagers, Zixiu was heartbroken when everyone fled from him in fear. Xiao Yao comforted the boy, explaining that his appearance didn't matter because his heart was kind and he had acted out of protection. Zixiu, still feeling lonely, asked if anyone would ever play jianzi (shuttlecock) with him again. Xiao Yao promised she would, but she questioned his deep attachment to the game.

Zixiu revealed that his obsession stemmed from his memory of a friend named Jin Ge. Centuries ago, Zixiu was tasked by the heavens to guard fragments of the Kunlun Mirror on Mount Qiansui. Overwhelmed by thousands of years of isolation, he occasionally took human form to seek companionship, only to be rejected by local children like a boy named Lansheng. During his lowest moment, he met Jin Ge, a girl who was the only person willing to play with him.

However, Jin Ge was actually a mayfly who had gained a human form for one year after touching immortal dew. With only one month left to live, she claimed she needed the mirror fragments to find the Yuli Spring to save her life. To prevent his only friend's death, Zixiu gave her the fragment he guarded.

They made a pact: Jin Ge would return after drinking from the spring, and Zixiu would wait in that spot, maintaining his current form so she would recognize him. Although Bing Zhu suspected Jin Ge never intended to return, Zixiu remained faithful to his promise for a thousand years. After spending a final joyful day playing games like "Freeze!" with Xiao Yao and the others, Zixiu’s time was up.

He had to depart to face heavenly punishment for losing the mirror, leaving a final message for Xiao Yao to deliver to Jin Ge: he had finally become better at jianzi than she was. Following Zixiu's departure, Bing Zhu revealed the tragic truth to Xiao Yao. Jin Ge was actually an avatar of the Immortal Lord Dreamshard.

A thousand years ago, before becoming a spirit, she had been a human who gathered the mirror fragments to save her lover, only to realize he had used her to set a trap to gain favor with the Emperor. In her vengeful grief, she discarded her heart, wiped out the traitor’s family, and founded the Misty Void Realm. Upon returning to the realm to face Dreamshard, Bing Zhu attempted a desperate gamble.

He presented a mirror fragment and claimed he wanted to save his sister, Tan'er, rather than Lu Pianpian. Dreamshard mocked his perceived selfishness, but the situation turned lethal when Bing Zhu tried to assassinate her. Using her illusions, Dreamshard swapped places with her follower, Da Li, leading to Da Li’s death at Bing Zhu's hands. In the ensuing chaos, Hong Ye appeared, initially feigning submission to Dreamshard by claiming his "Heart-Devouring Poison" and past obsessions were cured.

Dreamshard, however, sensed the pain in his heart and realized he was lying. Cornered, Hong Ye urged Xiao Yao to flee as he prepared to use the "Heart-Burning Incantation"—a suicide attack intended to destroy both his heart and Dreamshard’s through their "Luan-Feng" soul-link. Xiao Yao rushed to intervene, refusing to let Hong Ye die.

She challenged Dreamshard’s cynical view of the world by pointing out a unique yellow flower in the garden that was perpetually covered in dew despite never being watered. Xiao Yao realized the dew was actually the tears of Dreamshard’s discarded human heart, which she had kept hidden because she still secretly yearned for proof of true devotion. Finally, Xiao Yao delivered Zixiu’s message.

Realizing that Zixiu had waited a thousand years without a single hint of hatred, Dreamshard was finally overwhelmed by the sincerity she thought was a lie. She wept and dissipated, and the illusions of the Misty Void Realm crumbled into ruins. As the realm vanished, Xiao Yao was relieved to find that Hong Ye had survived the incantation, though his spirit companion, Little Leaf, had sacrificed herself to save him.

Despite their shared victory, the tension between the group and the Feiyu Guard remained. Bing Zhu insisted that the recovered Kunlun Mirror fragments must be delivered to the Emperor as per his decree. Xiao Yao was disgusted by his rigid loyalty to a monarch whose greed for immortality had already destroyed so many lives, including Tan'er’s. To prevent immediate bloodshed between the exhausted survivors, Bing Zhu allowed Xiao Yao to hold the fragments for now.

However, he warned Hong Ye that their duty-bound battle to the death was merely delayed, not canceled. For the moment, Bing Zhu turned his attention to leading Lu Pianpian and the other surviving girls back to their homes.
