He promised to stand by her as she sought the truth behind the tragedy that destroyed her family. Meanwhile, Jin Niang met Li Peiyi at a blacksmith shop to report her findings from the Black Market.
She discovered that someone had been seeking a prescription to treat a severe eye injury caused by toxic blood. Li Peiyi realized the patient was likely the person who killed her master, Du Zhixing, as her master had recognized the attacker’s martial arts moves. Vowing to find this "one-eyed man," she suspected the culprit was a high-ranking official. Li Peiyi consulted Zhao Yudi, who was busy instructing a new group of female medical technicians.
They devised a plan to lure the target out by offering a remedy that would cause intense itching, forcing the patient to seek specialized acupuncture from Zhao Yudi herself. On a rainy night, Xiao Huaijin was intercepted in a bamboo forest by a masked man. Li Peiyi arrived just in time to intervene, and the assailant fled. Inside, Zhao Yudi was brought in a wooden crate to meet a man calling himself Third Master. She first treated a subordinate to prove her skill before the real target, who had a distinct scar on his hand, stepped forward.
As she began the acupuncture, Li Peiyi entered the room. The target mocked her, but he was suddenly seized by agonizing pain. Li Peiyi revealed that she had secretly coated the second row of needles in the acupuncture kit with a new toxin, anticipating the man's cautious nature. Trapped and in pain, the man was identified as Lv Chongshan, a general of the Andong Protectorate.
Lv Chongshan finally confessed his involvement in the events of fifteen years ago, claiming he was once a Left General of the Imperial Guards. He asserted that the Prince of Duan had plotted a rebellion and ignored an imperial summons on the night of the Lantern Festival, slaughtering his own household in a fit of madness once the plot was exposed. Li Peiyi was stunned by the accusation, as she vividly remembered spending that night with her father, who had never mentioned receiving any summons from the Emperor.
